    FATHER I REFUSE SHAME/DISGRACE

    Text : Jeremiah 3:24 KJV

For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.”

    MESSAGE
One prayer I usually pray for myself is God don't allow me to see shame or disgrace.

Disgrace is made up of two words: ‘dis’ and ‘gracia’. ‘Dis’ means out of and ‘gracia’ means grace. So, the word disgrace means out of grace. Or rightly put in our modern English, it means loss of honor, loss of respect, loss of good name.

It can also mean to bring shame upon a person. The word shame in the Bible has so many aspects to it. Shame can come as an offence or as a consequence of sin to someone who has done something wrong and has been discovered.

Shame can come as a result of pride or when the reputation of a person has been injured. So, the result of being disgraced is shame. Shame also can come from God. In order to reprove sin, God can allow shame to come upon a person.

Say Lord, please don't allow me and my family to see shame in the name of Jesus.

    SOURCES OF SHAME

The Bible makes us to understand that shame can come from God, it can come from satan, and can also come from man.

I Know a pastor who saw shame when a member gave the church he was privileged to be pastoring at that time one million naira for church project, but he diverted the said money for his personal use by acquiring a fairly used camry car.

But, just after a year he bought the car, the whole truth surfaced and he was sacked unceremoniously. I will like you to say again, “I reject every spirit of shame/ disgrace the enemies have assigned against me in the name of Jesus.”

Seeing yourself half dressed or completely naked regularly in the dream should not be treated with kids gloves.

Jeremiah 3: 24 says, “For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.” So, shame can devour the labour of a person.

There was this popular actress many years ago who was forced to leave the shores of Nigeria when her nude pictures was published in a popular newspaper in Nigeria.

This powerful emotion called shame is a great weapon in the hand of the enemy and he likes to use it on people and places. The terrible thing about it is that it hits people from the inside and destroys them internally. It could eat away the strength of the confidence of a person.

It can disable and amputate a person completely and make him ineffective in the service of the Lord. To be mighty in faith and in the Holy Spirit, you must confront the spirit of shame and defeat it.

There was this popular brother I know that had his wedding cancelled just 2 days before the wedding. He slept with his would be bride, and the bride got pregnant in the process.

In a bid to cover their shame; they aborted the pregnancy. So they felt everything has been covered. When the church hospital carried out their own pregnancy test, it was positive.

This brother denied of ever having any canal knowledge of the said sister. After, several tests the sister blood samples were still reading positive. Being a lawyer he threatened to sue the church for defamation of character.

But, the whole truth came out eventually sutfaced after much pressure on the sister. She then confessed to my then senior pastor that indeed the brother ate the forbidden fruit and got her pregnant.

They carried out an evacuation to cover up their tracks, but still the sisters blood sample still returned positive.

    KINDS OF SHAME

1 Guilty shame: This happens when a person violates the law of decency and he is embarrassed.

2 Social shame: This kind of shame occurs when a person is embarrassed because he or she made a social blunder.

3 Innocent shame: This happens when a person is accused of an offence he is not guilty of. When somebody’s character is damaged without justifications

4 Public shame: This is embarrassment because of physical or social blunder.

5 Shame of discrimination: When a person feels mentally, socially or ethnically inferior to other persons.

6 Shame of inadequacy: That is when somebody feels inadequate.

7 Shame as a result of the gospel eg persecution.

The shame that comes from God can be handled with God. When we repents the Lord will forgive us and will remove the shame from us

But the shame that the enemy plans must be confronted and dealt with.

HOW TO BE A PERSON OF HONOR

& BE WISE; proverbs 3: 35 says, “The wise shall inherit glory but shame shall be the promotion of fools.” So foolish living and actions that are not. There are certain information that shouldn't be on your phone

& BE DILIGENT: Proverbs 10: 5 says, “He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in a harvest is a son that causeth shame.”

Sleeping during the time of physical or spiritual harvest will bring disgrace. When others are struggling, and you just sit down and take no action, it means you are inviting disgrace upon your life.

& BE HUMBLE: Proverbs 11: 2 says, “When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lonely is wisdom.”

The Bible says that pride brings shame. Proverbs 16: 18 says, “Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

& TRAIN UP YOUR CHILDREN: Proverbs 29: 15 says, “The rod and reproof give wisdom but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.” So, parents who allow their children to do what they like are preparing for shame.

When raising your children learn to call a spade a spade and not a farm tool.

A child you pamper today will tamper with your tomorrow.

&KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS:. Genesis 3: 9 – 10: “And the Lord God called unto Adam and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself.”

Shame and nakedness could come from sin. Avoid actions that would amputate your good name and rubbish your character.

May shame and disgrace be far from us in Jesus name.

  • Peter Obi thanks Tinubu for deciding to visit scenes of Benue massacre

Peter Obi and President Bola Tinubu.

    By Bayo Wahab
Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s decision to visit Benue State on Wednesday following the gruesome killings of over 200 people last weekend.

While commissioning The Greater Abuja Water Supply Network on Monday, the President sympathised with the government and the people of Benue State.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President has already rescheduled his official visit to Kaduna State to assess firsthand the recurring crises that claimed numerous lives and caused significant destruction in Benue.
Reacting to the development in a statement, Obi, who had earlier criticised Tinubu’s leadership style, said it was refreshing for Nigerians to learn that the President has “finally decided to visit the scene of the brutal killings in Benue State.”
While thanking the President for his decision, Obi asked him also to visit Niger State, where floods claimed many lives.
“It was refreshing news on Monday to a bewildered nation learning that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has finally decided to visit the scene of the brutal killings in Benue State. For this I thank him even as I make further request that similar gesture should be extended to Niger state that lost more number of human lives in a natural disaster, flood recently,” the LP leader said.
The opposition leader maintained that the presence of the President in these ‘devastated and grieving communities’ will be very reassuring and uplifting.
Both Benue and Niger States have lost over 200 lives each due to recent tragedies. In Mokwa alone, more than 200 people were confirmed dead, and over 1,000 are still missing following the floods. These are not just statistics; they are the lives of Nigerian families torn apart and their communities destroyed, Obi stated.
He advised the President to let his visit to Mokwa in Niger State send a strong message that all Nigerian lives matter and that no community, no matter how rural, is forgotten
Obi also urged President Tinubu to step up security across the country, especially in disaster-prone areas

  • THE DEVIL'S MISTRESS
    PART 1
The stench of rotting garbage and sweat clung to the air like a curse. In the heart of Lagos' worst slump, where hope went to die, a little girl with too-big eyes and ribs poking through her skin crouched in the dirt, counting grains of rice like they were gold. Jessica was eight years old the first time she understood what hunger truly was—not just the gnawing emptiness in her belly, but the kind that made her mother weep silently at night, the kind that made her father’s hands shake when he couldn’t afford medicine for her baby brother’s fever.
Nine people. One room. A single mattress stained with years of suffering, shared between her parents and seven children. The walls were thin, and the sounds of the slum never slept—drunken shouts, the cries of hungry babies, the scuttling of rats that were bolder than the people. Jessica learned early that life wasn’t fair. While other children played, she scavenged. While others dreamed, she fought—for food, for space, for a single moment of silence.
But there was something different about Jessica. Even as a child, her eyes burned with a fire that poverty couldn’t extinguish. At ten, she taught herself to read using tattered newspapers she found in the trash. At twelve, she sold boiled groundnuts under the scorching sun, saving every coin in a rusted tin she buried beneath their floor. At fifteen, she watched her eldest sister, Ada, disappear into the night with a man who promised her "work"—Ada never came back. That was the day Jessica swore she would never let the slum swallow her whole.
By some miracle—or sheer stubbornness—she finished secondary school. Then came the university admission letter, a flimsy piece of paper that felt like a ticket to heaven. But heaven came with a price. Her parents cried—not tears of joy, but of shame, because they couldn’t afford it. So Jessica did what she had always done: she fought.
She sold pure water under the rain, braved the leering eyes of market men who "tipped" her extra for bending low, took cleaning jobs in rich neighborhoods where women looked at her like she was dirt. Still, it wasn’t enough. Then one evening, a woman in a sleek car rolled down her window and said the words that would change everything: "A girl like you could make a month’s salary in one night."
Jessica knew what it meant. She wasn’t ******. But as she stared at the woman’s manicured nails and perfumed wrists, she thought of her siblings’ hollow cheeks, her father’s cough that never went away, her mother’s broken back from carrying other people’s loads. That night, she made a choice—not because she wanted to, but because the slum had given her no other options.
She became an escort. Not the kind draped in shame, but the kind who wore her pain like armor. She studied men the way she had once studied textbooks—learning their weaknesses, their desires, the way power curled around them like smoke. She was careful. She was smart. And most importantly, she had a plan.
This life wouldn’t break her. It would fuel her.
Because Jessica had one rule: no matter how far she sank, she would never stop climbing.
