• One Minute Please The Longest Minute in Accra

It was a hot Saturday afternoon in Accra. The sun was shining like it had a personal grudge, and the whole town was waiting at the church for one thing Kojo and Akosua’s wedding. The pastor had already wiped his face three times, the choir had run out of songs, and even the flower girls were eating their own petals from boredom.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Akosua was in front of her mirror, applying her 13th layer of makeup. She looked stunning, yes, but time was running like Usain Bolt.

Kojo, her poor groom, was standing by the door sweating in his tuxedo like someone who owed ECG. He looked at the wall clock and shouted,
Akosua We’re late oo! The pastor is threatening to go and do another funeral

Akosua, without blinking, replied in her sweet voice,
    One minute please
Then continued carefully brushing her eyelashes like she was painting the Mona Lisa.

Kojo held his head. Ei! One minute in Ghana woman time is one hour in real life

Outside, the best man was pacing, calling every 10 minutes:
    Bro, has she finished
Kojo whispered back, She said ‘one minute 45 minutes ago

Back at the church, people started whispering:

    Maybe she changed her mind

No oh, maybe she lost her shoe

Or the makeup artist is still contouring her ancestors.

Finally, Akosua appeared at the door like a queen stepping out of a music video. Kojo, half-dead from panic, smiled and said,
Let’s go before you remember you need to fix your necklace too

They arrived at church almost 2 hours late. But when Akosua walked in, the whole church gasped in awe.

    Someone in the crowd said,
Ah well, beauty takes time. But next time, marry her in her sleep. That's when she won't delay

In Ghana, when a woman says One minute please, just sit down, drink some sobolo, and wait like you're queuing at DVLA

One peaceful night in Kumasi, Ama and her husband Kojo were sleeping like babies after eating heavy fufu and light soup.

Suddenly, Ama heard strange sounds from the sitting room. Chai! That is not rat o..She shook Kojo quickly.

Kojo Kojo Wake up, An armed rubber has entered our house. He is carrying our TV and even our jollof rice pot

Kojo slowly opened one eye, hissed, and turned back to sleep.

Ama, tell that man today is a public holiday. He should come back tomorrow when we are back to normal stress, Kojo mumbled.

Ama’s eyes nearly fell out. Eeeii Kojo, You want me to go and greet the armed rubber like it’s Christmas What if he greets me with slap

Kojo snored. If he slaps you, tell him to come and slap me after the holiday

At that moment, the rubber heard their conversation and burst into laughter. He dropped the TV and shouted from the sitting room, you people are m@d i dey come tomorrow sef

And true to his word, he returned the next day with a holiday calendar to confirm.

  • Peter Obi thanks Tinubu for deciding to visit scenes of Benue massacre

Peter Obi and President Bola Tinubu.

    By Bayo Wahab
Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s decision to visit Benue State on Wednesday following the gruesome killings of over 200 people last weekend.

While commissioning The Greater Abuja Water Supply Network on Monday, the President sympathised with the government and the people of Benue State.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President has already rescheduled his official visit to Kaduna State to assess firsthand the recurring crises that claimed numerous lives and caused significant destruction in Benue.
Reacting to the development in a statement, Obi, who had earlier criticised Tinubu’s leadership style, said it was refreshing for Nigerians to learn that the President has “finally decided to visit the scene of the brutal killings in Benue State.”
While thanking the President for his decision, Obi asked him also to visit Niger State, where floods claimed many lives.
“It was refreshing news on Monday to a bewildered nation learning that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has finally decided to visit the scene of the brutal killings in Benue State. For this I thank him even as I make further request that similar gesture should be extended to Niger state that lost more number of human lives in a natural disaster, flood recently,” the LP leader said.
The opposition leader maintained that the presence of the President in these ‘devastated and grieving communities’ will be very reassuring and uplifting.
Both Benue and Niger States have lost over 200 lives each due to recent tragedies. In Mokwa alone, more than 200 people were confirmed dead, and over 1,000 are still missing following the floods. These are not just statistics; they are the lives of Nigerian families torn apart and their communities destroyed, Obi stated.
He advised the President to let his visit to Mokwa in Niger State send a strong message that all Nigerian lives matter and that no community, no matter how rural, is forgotten
Obi also urged President Tinubu to step up security across the country, especially in disaster-prone areas

  • Is Your Tomato Paste Really Made from Tomatoes?

By Israel Mensah Gothar – Good Living Ghana

Tomato paste is one of the most common ingredients in our kitchens — used in stews, soups, jollof, and more. But did you know that many of the tomato pastes sold on the market today contain very little actual tomato?

Instead, some brands are blending in: Wheat flour or corn starch
    Refined sugar
    Artificial coloring
    Preservatives

The result? A thick red mixture that looks like tomato paste but lacks the nutritional value and purity of real tomatoes.

    Why You Should Be Concerned

These adulterated pastes can: Raise blood sugar (because of hidden sugars)
    Add empty calories (from starches)
Trigger inflammation or allergies (due to chemicals and dyes)
Deprive you of key nutrients like lycopene, vitamin C, and potassium

What’s worse — it’s often marketed as “pure tomato paste.”

    What to Look Out For

Before you buy, read the label carefully. A quality tomato paste should list: Tomatoes
    (Optional: salt)
No sugar, no flour, no starch, no coloring

If it includes anything else, it’s not the real deal.

Better still, prepare your own paste at home using fresh tomatoes — it’s healthier, safer, and more nutritious.
“Let’s stop being fooled by red coloring. Our kitchens deserve real food, and our bodies deserve real nutrition.”
