LETTER OF RESIGNATION FROM THE POSITION OF SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT ON CIVIL SOCIETY'S AND NGOs

With deep reflection, a heavy heart, and unwavering love for the people of Delta State, I, Comrade Victor Ojei, popularly called Wong Box, hereby tender my resignation as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Civil Societies and NGOs, effective from 25th April, 2025, marking the end of my tenure which began on the 2nd of August, 2023.

When I accepted the appointment, it was with burning hope — a hope to bridge the gap between government and the grassroots, to be a voice for the voiceless, to inspire change not just from the corridors of power but from the trenches where our people cry daily for justice, development, and a better life.

I did not join politics to wine and dine. I joined PDP and accepted this role with only one ambition: to fight for the ordinary Deltan through Activism, Advocacy, and Developmental partnerships that would uplift our land from the scars of neglect and political promises into genuine prosperity. But I was limited by the very system I sought to strengthen.

Every single effort to attract international developmental partners, NGOs, and innovation was stalled and dumped into KIV (Keep In View). What should have been a movement for progress became a standstill. Projects that could have sparked industrial revolutions, brought jobs to the unemployed, and put food in the mouths of widows and orphans were met with silence.

Where are the economic projects that bring money into the hands of ordinary people? Where is the non-kinetic security architecture we so passionately advocated for — the use of AI-driven CCTV in ungoverned spaces of our state to protect lives and property?

From 1999 to date, not one tangible thing comes into the pocket of the average Deltan monthly. Not one policy guarantees their safety. Not one hope touches their roof. This cannot continue — and I refuse to be part of a system that watches our people drown and claps instead of rescuing them.

To your credit, Your Excellency, I thank you for the opportunity to serve. I did not take it lightly. I tried with every drop of energy I had — we established the Save Delta State Security WhatsApp Platform with key stakeholders: police, DSS, hunters, youth leaders, PGs of communities, and more. We gave our best, and we are still giving our best — but a tree cannot make a forest when starved of rain.

What we need is political will. If the state must take loans, let it be to protect lives. Let it be to bring technology to our streets, especially those forgotten in the rural ends of our beloved Delta.

I want to state clearly: I will not cross carpet from PDP to APC. I am not a politician; I am a socio-political activist. I stand with truth and with the people, not with the highest bidder.

Yes, I admired President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold reforms as Governor of Lagos State. But this new path — this aggressive political conversion of PDP states into APC strongholds — is dangerous. It is pushing Nigeria toward a one-party system, which PDP never did during their time from 1999 to 2015.

The birth of APC itself was possible because the PDP government then allowed political plurality. That era was the best of Nigeria’s democracy. Democracy is not democracy when power is gained by manipulation. That is not democracy; that is voodoo governance.

I will never toy with the destiny of the people of Delta State. My loyalty lies with them, not with any party or position. I will continue to speak, to act, and to defend the people whether in office or outside it.

I may have resigned the position, but I have not resigned my passion. I have not resigned from Delta State. I have not resigned from the hearts of the people. And I know that the people who know the truth will one day rise to give me a chance to truly serve them without chains.

Let it be known that Comrade Victor Ojei (Wong Box) stood when others bowed. That I chose the people, even when the palace doors were open.

May God bless Delta State.
May He bless the dreams of every suffering Deltan.
And may He give us the courage to fight for a better tomorrow.

MBOMUZO IN OKWUOHIA AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY,
OBOWO L.G.A., IMO STATE, NIGERIA.
Okwuohia is a Community in Obowo
L.G.A., of Imo state, Nigeria, that has enviable rich historical background and deep cultural heritage. Okwuohia is the only community in Obowo and the old ETITI District that has four markets covering the four market days in Igbo calendar, namely: Eke, Orie, Afor and Nkwo. All these have distinct locations and hold accordingly.
The community prides herself with many cultural festivals which include Mbomuzo, Ntumaka, Nrim-ji (Iri ji) among others. But the one that attracts people in their numbers to the community is, "MBOMUZO", a-k-a "NKUISI-MKPURU-UKWA".
MBOMUZO simply means, "clearing of the roads ", otherwise known as environmental cleansing, especially with regard to roads leading to traditional centres and matket places. It is intended to make the roads passable again in order to give proper access to the markets and homes of citizens.
In Okwuohia, all roads are cleared very thoroughly starting from individual homes to the Eke-Okwuohia, Orie-Okwuohia, Afor-Okwuohia and Nkwo-Okwuohia market squares. Also, roads leading to major and significant rivers are cleared. For instance, the Onu-iyi-lolo-nwanyi (Onu-ngele) stream at Umuduru Mgbakam is usually kept cleared for the "AHIA-NGANGA" ceremony by the women of Okwuohia during the same period. It has to be noted that all the road clearing and cleansing must be completed on or before the NKWO market day preceding the EKE market day of the ceremony.
NKUISI-MKPURU-UKWA: As said earlier in this write-up, MBOMUZO Okwuohia is also referred to as NKUISI-MKPURU-UKWA. Why?
Ours, is an agrarian community. In those good old days, our people cultivated yams, coco-yams, maize, cassava and mkpokoro in large scales. Farming was done more at locations far away from homes. Due to this, farmers constructed make-shift structures there in the bush/farms, where they rested and had their meals during the toils of the day. Most times, people returned to their homes very late in the evening. Major foods eaten in the farms those days were bread-fruits (Ukwa), palm kernels, yams and coco-yams. The bread-fruits were eaten whole without removing the the shells or the outer covers. Farming took place between the months of January and May, during which period farmers fed on any available food items. When such farmers returned to their homes from their farms in the month of May, they settled down to enjoy more pleasant and well prepared food. They would no longer eat the bread-fruits with their shells. Also, they cleaned their environments that had been left bushy during the period of intensive farming activities in the farms. From their homes, clearing and cleansing progress to the roads that lead to other homes and traditional centres. At this time, people begin to exchange visits with relatives and friends both far and near to show that they have returned home after the farming period in the bush. Such visits are usually reciprocated. During such visits, entertainments are unlimited based on the dispositions of the parties involved. In Okwuohia, after the entertainment at home, people gather at the designated market square to demonstrate it the more. The venue is usually at the ORIE OKWUOHIA, where the EKWIRIKWE music music is played and danced in an organized manner.
EKWIRIKWE MUSIC AND ORDER OF DANCING:
After the presentation and blessing of kola-nuts by the traditional ruler of Okwuohia, who declares the ceremony open after his speech and brief demonstration of the dance, the ceremony begins. Ofeiyi people, who are the custodians of the EKWIRIKWE do a brief demonstration dance. Thereafter, the traditional order of seniority of the three sections of Okwuohia is strictly observed thus: MGBAKAM, OFEIYI and AMARAMOHIA. Finally, a general dance which is usually longer and more thrilling comes up and marks the end of the ceremony.
The EKWIRIKWE music delivers messages which present Okwuohia as place with people of remarkable mutual respect, prowess and noted for wrestling. EKWIRIKWE music is used to caution Okwuohia people not to eat the bread-fruits with the shells again after the Mbomuzo. Hence, "ONYE ATALA UKWA NA MKPEKELE" and "NKUISI-MKPURU-UKWA". This is demonstrated by hitting one's back-side to symbolically discharge the ones eaten previously. Before the EKWIRIKWE dance arena is approached, people sing various songs and dance along the road according to Age Grades, socicultural groups and sections.
MBOMUZO AND THE PRONOUNCEMENT OF DATE.
Only the Eze of Okwuohia, in consultation with you Traditional Council has the powers to announce the date for MBOMUZO every year. Above all, it is a known fact that Okwuohia community is the first among all the communities in Obowo and even the old ETITI District to perform Mbomuzo every year, thus determining the cultural calendar for other communities that perform the same and or related festivals.
Mbomuzo holds in Okwuohia on the second EKE-Okwuohia market day in the month of June every year. Visitors, friends, in-laws and well -wishers of the community visit the community to enjoy the characteristic hospitality and conviviality associated with the ceremony. Entertainment items are unlimited especially according to the preparedness of the individual families and persons during the period. Such entertainment items include and not limited to polished bread-fruit meals, maize pudding, cassava foo-foo, oil-bean pudding and different kinds of drinks.
PROBLEMS:
The festival has suffered from various problems which include but not limited to wrong perceptions, misrepresentation, misconception, ignorance, ineptitude, iconoclasm and apathy. Many, especially the less informed and the neo-religious groups strongly hold to the perception that that the festival is fetish and wasteful (especially those who are not willing to spend their resources to host guests).
ADVANTAGES:
The period leads to keeping the surroundings clean, re-union of families, friends, in-laws and well -wishers, tourist attraction and advancing our cultural heritage including ensuring the acquisition and development of the EKWIRIKWE playing and dancing skills.
In the good old days, women who earnestly took part in the road and market clearing and cleansing and later took part in the AHIA-NGANGA activities after bathing on serious intents at the Onu-Lolo-nwanyi (Onu-Ngele) stream, would appear at Mbomuzo the following year either pregnant or as nursing mothers if they either prayed for or desired such thereby.
MODIFICATIONS SO FAR:
Since culture is dynamic, efforts have been made by the leadership of Okwuohia community, over time, to modify certain aspects of the festival and programmes there-of in order to exponge some questionable and undesirable aspects of it. For instance, the timing and declaration of the date of the festival are now done by the Traditional ruler of Okwuohia in synergy with the Traditional Council. Also, no shrine or deity is either worshipped or honoured before, during and even after the festival. Most times, the traditional rulership open the festival with Christian thanks-giving worship at an agreed Christian church here in Okwuohia.
CONCLUSION:
In line with the realities of the present moments, efforts should be made to allow for acceptable modifications while there should be insistence on protecting and upholding the soul, spirit and purports of the cultural heritage of our dear Okwuohia community especially as regards affects MBOMUZO.

We weren’t allowed to tell them’: Worker quits job at bank. Then she reveals how you’re probably using Apple Cash in a way that could get you banned for life

A former bank worker reveals how some common Apple Cash habits can actually get you banned for life.

Dom (@damnndomm) posted a TikTok video with her advice on April 8. While comments on the video are disabled, it amassed 265,000 views before seemingly being deleted. “Things that you’re doing with Apple Cash that’s gonna bite you in the ssa,” she wrote in an on-screen caption.

“I used to work for the bank that processes your Apple Cash transactions, and I just feel like there’s some things now that I don’t work there that you guys should know,” she began. “Because a lot of people didn’t know these things, and we weren’t allowed to tell them either.”

What should you stop doing with Apple Cash?
Using fake names: Dom said that after you’ve received or sent $500, it will verify your identity. If your name isn’t correct, you can’t get verified and may even get restricted.
Adding your partner’s debit card to your Apple Pay when your name isn’t on the account: Dom said that can result in your account being flagged for fraud and restricted.
Setting up accounts with a fake birth date if you’re a minor: Dom said Apple Cash is only for legal adults. Minors can only have an account if their parents set it up for them via the Apple Cash Family feature. “You’re not bypassing. You’re not tricking anybody,” she added.
Using it for business purposes: Dom said Apple Cash is intended to be a person-to-person payment service. It is not intended for business owners to use to conduct sales.
Sending money to people you don’t know: Dom said many users would unknowingly send money to scammers, and the bank would not allow them to dispute the transaction because they willingly sent the money. She added that the only way the bank would accept the dispute was if you purchased something from the business and it agreed to issue you a credit, but never did.

How will Apple know you’re doing these things?

Apple Cash is Apple’s Venmo and PayPal competitor, which is serviced by Green Dot Bank. Late last year, the company announced it would start verifying the identities of anyone who sends out more than $500. Importantly, this applies not only to future transactions but also to funds you’ve already sent.

This change came along with the new Tap to Cash feature, which allows you to transfer funds to another person by holding your iPhone or Apple Watch up to theirs.

According to the terms of service, you must be 18 years or older and a legal resident of the United States to use Apple Cash. It stands to reason that Apple and Green Dot Bank would need to know your real name in order to confirm these details.

Dom said in her video that most people don’t realize Apple has processes to determine whether people are following its rules.

Apple encourages Apple Cash account holders to confirm their identities as soon as possible. That’s because the money you keep in it isn’t eligible for FDIC insurance if you don’t, and that’s what protects your money in the case a bank or financial institution holding it goes bust.


Of course, Apple is able to suspend or terminate your use of the service for pretty much any reason. That list includes security reasons, suspected fraud, and unauthorized use.

Giant Tomato Tree in China Yields 3,000 KG Annually from a Single Plant | Earth Day 2025 Observation

A towering tomato plant showcased at the Vegetable Expo in Shouguang, Shandong, has become a focal point of public and media interest due to its impressive size and production capacity on Apr 20th 2025. According to the OceanWetlands’ latest report, this plant, often referred to as a “tomato tree,” stands over two meters tall and covers a canopy area of approximately 150 square meters. According to expo organizers, this single plant is capable of yielding up to 6,000 jin (around 3,000 kilograms) of tomatoes annually.
Despite its extraordinary appearance, the tomato tree was cultivated from regular tomato seeds. The transformation into a tree-like structure was achieved through advanced agricultural techniques, including pruning, nutrient regulation, and environmental control. These methods stimulate continuous growth, resulting in a large and long-living plant structure.

Expo staff emphasized that the tomatoes produced by this plant are similar in taste and quality to standard tomatoes. However, due to the plant’s high space and maintenance demands, the cultivation model is currently limited to exhibition and research purposes. The structure requires significant vertical and horizontal space, as well as controlled conditions that are not easily replicable on regular farms.

For now, the tomato tree is not considered viable for commercial-scale farming. Agricultural experts note that while a typical farmer can afford minor losses in conventional tomato cultivation, the high input costs and space requirements of a single tomato tree mean that any failure could result in substantial financial loss. As a result, this model is primarily adopted in agricultural parks and controlled environments rather than in widespread farming practice.

Interestingly, this type of cultivation is not entirely new. Reports from previous years indicate that similar tomato trees in the region have been in development since at least 2018. One such plant was recognized by the Shanghai Great World Guinness Records for its high yield from a single vine.

Tomatoes, also known as fanqie in Chinese, originated in the Andes region of South America as small, sour wild fruits. Brought to Europe by Spanish colonizers in the 16th century, they were initially grown as ornamental plants due to their vibrant color. It wasn’t until the 18th century that Italians began using tomatoes in cooking, sparking their culinary popularity across Europe. Introduced to China during the Ming Dynasty, tomatoes were first seen as decorative, but gradually became a staple ingredient. Today, valued for their rich nutrition and sweet-tart flavor, tomatoes are one of the most widely cultivated and consumed fruits worldwide.

China’s agriculture is undergoing a crucial phase of modernization. The focus is shifting from food quantity to quality, sustainability, and efficiency. Innovative cultivation methods—like the high-yield, space-saving tomato tree—reflect this change. Such techniques not only boost productivity and reduce labor but also support industrial growth and rural revitalization. Though not yet mainstream, the tomato tree exemplifies how agricultural science is exploring new frontiers, offering fresh possibilities for the future of farming.

I don’t receive calls while driving but this person kept calling and calling until I decided to stop by the roadside and answer the call. It was an old friend who had come to town and wanted to see me.

As I sat parked, engrossed in the conversation, a soft tap on my window startled me. A woman stood outside, her face shadowed in the dim streetlight. I rolled down the window just enough to hear her.

"Are you looking for someone?"

I held up a finger, signaling I was on a call. She nodded and walked away.

Before I could resume my conversation, another knock. A different woman this time, her tone polite but insistent. "Do you need something? Maybe I can help?"

Confusion flickered. Was I parked illegally?

"No, I’m just on a call," I explained.

She gave a knowing smile and retreated. That’s when I noticed them—a small group of women lingering nearby, their postures relaxed but alert. Another car pulled up ahead. One of them approached, exchanged a few words, then climbed in. The car drove off.

Oh.

I wasn’t just parked on the side of the road. I was in their territory.

A third woman approached before I could process it fully. This time, I shook my head before she even spoke. She smirked and walked away.

I should have left. But curiosity pinned me there.

Cars came and went. The women worked like clockwork—a brief exchange, a nod, then one would disappear into a vehicle.

One of them stood out.

Tall, fair-skinned, wrapped in a short skirt and a white crop top that hugged her curves. Even in the dim light, her confidence was magnetic.

Why is someone like her doing this?

The thought lingered until she sauntered toward my car.

I don’t know why I did it—maybe impulse, maybe something darker—but before she reached me, I slipped off my wedding ring and tucked it into my pocket.

She leaned in, elbows resting on the window frame, lips curved in a slow, knowing smile.

"You’ve been here a while. Not sure who to pick?" Her voice was smooth, teasing. "Well, here I am. Tell me something."

Up close, she was stunning—sharp cheekbones, full lips, eyes that held a challenge. My pulse kicked up.

"I just pulled over to take a call," I said, but my voice lacked conviction.

She laughed, low and throaty. "It’s a beautiful night. I can make it better."

"How?"

"Take me somewhere private. You’ll see."

My mind raced. My body betrayed me.

"How much?" The words slipped out before I could stop them.

She quoted prices—short time, all night. I chose the former.

The hotel was her pick. The moment the door closed, she shed her clothes without ceremony, lying back on the bed like a transaction waiting to be completed.

I hesitated. "No foreplay?"

She arched a brow. "You want foreplay from an ashawo? Touch yourself. I’m here for one thing."

Reality crashed in. This wasn’t seduction. It was a business deal—cold, mechanical.
