  • The Real Reasons We Don’t Eat Turkey Eggs

Turkeys often find themselves at the center of our plates, much like many other domesticated birds classified as poultry. We rely on these animals for a range of products, from bedding and clothing to, most commonly, food. Eggs, in particular, are a staple in many diets. But it got us thinking: why don’t we eat turkey eggs?

In the wild, a turkey hen will build itself a ground nest somewhere sheltered in the forest. She then begins a two-week laying window, during which time an egg can pop out every 24 to 32 hours, usually resulting in a clutch of nine to 13, says the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

It’s plenty to be getting on with for a new turkey mom, who will pop off between egg laying to feed so that she can successfully incubate her babies. For egg farmers, however, it’s just not enough.

Why don’t we eat turkey eggs?
In the United States alone there are around 2,500 turkey farms. That’s a lot of turkeys, and presumably a lot of eggs, but they don’t enter the egg market because, frankly, they’re not worth it.

A healthy chicken can lay an egg almost daily, making the *ahem* paltry 32-hour turnover of a turkey seem like a poor yield. Add to that, it takes turkeys seven months to mature to egg-laying age compared to chicken’s five-month waiting period, and they just aren’t as attractive a source for poultry farmers hoping to sell eggs.

    Are turkey eggs edible?
Turkey eggs are edible, just ask turkey farmers. According to Modern Farm, they’re reported to taste very similar to a chicken egg, only a bit bigger with a tougher shell and thicker membrane.

    The weird world of eggs
Slightly bigger size, tougher membrane, thicker shell – the turkey egg, while expensive to farm, is really quite normal at the end of the day. The same cannot be said of penguin eggs.

According to Robert Headland, senior associate of the Scott Polar Research Institute at the University of Cambridge, UK, the taste of a penguin egg is an acquired one, being “somewhat fishy as krill form a major part of the diet”. Donald Morrison, who lives in the Falklands Islands, told IFLScience they make a cracking pavlova, but it’s the boiled eggs that are really something.

Boil a chicken egg and you find yourself with that satisfying white oval, but boil a penguin egg and you’ll be faced with a ghostly orb partially concealing an orange ball. It all comes down to the ratio of glycoproteins they contain, according to the Polar Guidebook. While chicken eggs are rich in mostly ovalbumin, penguin eggs contain 25 percent penalbumin, which helps them to survive in the region’s freezing temperatures.

  • WE REJECTED OSIMHEN — TRABZONSPOR PRESIDENT INADVERTENTLY CONFIRMS THAT MOURINHO'S CLUB TURNED DOWN SUPER EAGLES ACE

A Turkish Super Lig executive provided some insight into Osimhen's transfer journey from last summer.

Osimhen failed to secure a move to a top European club last summer after falling out with the Napoli hierarchy; there was only one option for the Nigerian: Turkey, as the Super Lig window famously stays open after the regular European window closes.

Dogan reveals that the Nigerian was proposed to multiple Turkish teams, including them; however, he explained that they had to turn down the offer, as they could not match the financial requirements.

“Agents suggested Victor Osimhen to everyone in Turkey,” Dogan said, according to A Spor. “We were one of the suggested clubs, and the figures were clear. We told them that we, as Trabzonspor, could not give these figures. If we gave 20, Galatasaray would have given 25.

He was offered to Fenerbahçe at the time, but they rejected him. The one who rejected him was Acun Ilıcalı,” Aybaba said.

Dogan’s comments inadvertently confirm Aybaba's claim, as he revealed that Osimhen was offered to almost all top Turkish clubs in the Super Lig last summer.

  • AN 18-YEAR-OLD BOY WHO WAS UNDERGOING AN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME IN ANAMBRA STATE HAS IMPREGNATED NO FEWER THAN 10 GIRLS

An 18-years-old randy boy, has impregnated no fewer than 10 girls in Anambra state

The Anambra State commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo disclosed this in a social media video, saying that the matter was brought before him on Tuesday.

Two of the pregnant girls are his master’s daughter and sales girl, while the 8 others were impregnated just two months after staying in the village, after his boss sent him packing.

According to Obinabo in a live video she shared on social media seeking advice, she said, “I want advice from the public because this one is beyond my capacity.

“This boy was sent to learn trade at the age of 18 and three months of apprenticeship, he impregnated his oga’s daughter and his sales girl. He was sent packing. Two months after that, he impregnated 8 others in the village.

The mother reported the matter to my office, saying, anytime she sees a girl coming towards her house nowadays, her heart would jump, and that she needs help.

“This matter is beyond me, the reason, I want the public to help me come up with solution. Is it spiritual?

“I asked the boy the magic he uses in luring the girls to bed, but he told me he always tell them that he loves them and will like to marry them any time he acquires wealth.”

However, the commissioner did not disclose the community where the boy hails from, nor the name of the mother while narrating the issue.

She said: “This problem is beyond me because of the boy’s age and the number of pregnant girls involved, that’s why I need help to solve it,” Obinabo laments.

  • ANGRY MOB KILLS FOOTBALL REFEREE, BODY SET ABLAZE

Bukavu, a city already scarred by years of instability, was rocked this week by the horrific lynching of respected football referee Patrick Ngalamulume, who was beaten and set ablaze by a mob following an unproven accusation of theft.

The 36-year-old official, affectionately known as “Ngalas,” was killed in the early hours of May 6 in Bukavu’s Irambo neighborhood. Eyewitnesses say a false rumor triggered a deadly chain of events, as enraged residents took the law into their own hands and carried out a gruesome public execution.

Ngalamulume was widely known in Bukavu’s football community for his fairness, integrity, and calm approach on the pitch. He officiated under the Bukavu Urban Football Association (EUFBUK) and was a familiar face across local tournaments. Friends and colleagues described him as “a man of discipline and peace.”

The attack unfolded overnight, as a baseless accusation rapidly turned into mob violence. “There was no investigation, no police involvement. Just rage,” said a local resident who witnessed the violence but asked not to be named. “They beat him like he was nothing—and then set him on fire.”

Emergency services failed to intervene in time. The slow response has sparked outrage among civil society groups and sports officials who blame weak state institutions for enabling lawlessness. “This is what happens when the justice system fails completely,” said a spokesperson for a local human rights coalition.

The killing has drawn condemnation nationwide. In a statement, EUFBUK called for an urgent and impartial investigation, describing the attack as “a barbaric act that must not go unpunished.” They urged authorities to arrest all those involved and restore order in Bukavu and its surroundings.

Eastern Congo has long been plagued by insecurity, exacerbated by the presence of armed groups and a faltering state presence. In the vacuum of authority, extrajudicial killings and mob justice have become tragically common. Activists say Ngalamulume’s death is a chilling reminder of how low public trust has sunk.

“This isn’t just about one man,” said civil society leader Mireille Baguma. “It’s about a country where people no longer believe the police will protect them or that courts will deliver justice.”

Local officials have promised a crackdown and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. But skepticism remains high among residents who have heard similar promises in the past. “We want action, not speeches,” said a youth football coach in Bukavu.

As the city mourns the brutal loss of one of its own, Patrick Ngalamulume’s death has become more than a personal tragedy—it is a national wake-up call. His memory now stands as a symbol of both the beauty of the game he served and the urgent need for justice in a broken system.

  • POLICE RAID ALLEGED GAY SAFEHOUSE IN LEKKI, LEADERS ON THE RUN

On Friday, 2 May 2025, security operatives stormed an apartment in the Lekki area of Lagos State, reportedly occupied by men suspected of engaging in same-sex relationships. The building, which community members had reportedly flagged for suspicious activity, was described as a base for a group allegedly involved in promoting homosexual activity under the guise of a non-governmental organisation.

The occupants of the apartment, identified as Asare George and Attah Dominc, who are said to be the founders of a so-called Peace Coalition Group, remain at large following the raid that led to multiple arrests.

According to local reports, residents raised concerns over what they described as illegal activities taking place within the premises. These suspicions were reportedly tied to the group’s perceived contravention of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act (SSMPA), signed into law in 2014.

The SSMPA prescribes a prison term of up to 10 years for individuals who directly or indirectly engage in or support same-sex relationships or organisations promoting such relationships in Nigeria.

Mr James Olaiya, Chief Security Officer of the local neighbourhood, stated that suspicions had been growing for months following intelligence received from Ondo State. He explained that one of the group’s alleged leaders, Attah Dominic, based in Ondo state, had been the subject of previous reports accusing him of harbouring homosexual men while fronting as a peace and development advocate.

“Attah Dominic, who operates out of Ondo State, had been reported to us for engaging in same-sex activities and running a group that masked itself as a peace forum,” Olaiya said. “We began monitoring them closely and eventually caught them in the act.”

The raid, carried out jointly by local vigilante forces and the police, led to the arrest of several members believed to be part of the organisation. Authorities confirmed that those detained are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

However, the group’s alleged leaders, Attah and Asare, escaped during the operation and remain on the run. Police have launched a manhunt to locate and apprehend the duo. A reward has also been announced for anyone who can provide credible information that leads to their arrest.

Security officials reiterated their commitment to enforcing the law and tracking down individuals who, in their view, operate in violation of national legislation.

  • One of County Durham’s most wanted fugitives has been arrested in Eastern Europe after spending nearly 18 months on the run.

Darren Towler, formerly of Consett, was arrested on Saturday, August 5 near the Croatian and Serbian border.

Towler, whose last known address was Rutherford Street, in Newcastle, remains in custody awaiting extradition proceedings.

The 42-year-old former cage fighter orchestrated a sophisticated drugs conspiracy which saw criminals smuggle millions of pounds worth of drugs into County Durham from Merseyside.

An investigation by officers from Durham Constabulary’s Specialist Crime Operations Unit (SCOU) found the gang to be exchanging ‘industrial scale quantities’ of drugs for hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Led by Towler, the conspiracy involved the use of burner and encrypted phones and frequent communications to transport cash and drugs across the country.

Officers identified more than ten trips between the North East and North West over a five-month period in 2017.

Following the extensive police investigation, 11 people appeared at Teesside Crown Court in October last year to be sentenced for their role in the conspiracy.

Towler was found guilty of conspiracy to supply cocaine and amphetamine but admitted the same charge for cannabis.

He failed to appear at court but was jailed for 24 years in his absence.

🗣 A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “This arrest shows that there is no hiding place for anyone who is evading police.

“Working with our colleagues at the National Crime Agency, Towler is now facing extradition back to the UK to serve his prison sentence.

“To anyone who is causing fear and harm in our community and thinks they can get away with it – we will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to find you, we will always catch up with you and bring you to justice.”

  • BREAKING: CALL YOUR FAMILY TO ORDER – ATIKU WARNS TINUBU

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently rein in his family members, particularly his son, Seyi Tinubu, who “appears determined to purchase political loyalty for his father by any means necessary, including coercion, violence, and intimidation.”

Naija News reports that Atiku made this known through his media aide, Paul Ibe, in a statement on Friday.

Atiku said the serious allegations made by the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isah — alleging physical assault, abduction, and inducement at the hands of Seyi Tinubu — are deeply alarming and strike at the core of democratic norms and civil liberty.

According to him, such grave accusations are being levelled against a member of the first family is both disturbing and dangerous.

He said had this incident ended fatally, it would have been recorded among the growing list of atrocities committed by criminal elements in the country.

The statement said: “That it is allegedly tied to the President’s own son makes it even more horrifying. What’s worse is the emerging suggestion that even top security officials are not beyond Seyi Tinubu’s overreaching influence — an unacceptable compromise of state institutions.

“It is intolerable that the first family would seek to subjugate the NANS — or any civil society group — through threats, bribes, or brute force. Nigeria is a democratic republic, not a monarchy handed down to one family.

“Well-meaning Nigerians must rise to speak out. The actions of the President’s family — specifically their rabid drive to consolidate political power through manipulation and fear — must be condemned unequivocally. We must remind them that the presidency is a public trust, not a private inheritance.

Attempts to drag former Vice President Atiku Abubakar into this scandal by alleging a political alliance with Comrade Isah are baseless, malicious, and desperate. Atiku Abubakar’s meeting with Isah was centered solely on education reform and improving student welfare, which also includes institutions he founded, like the American University of Nigeria and AUN Academy.

“Comrade Isah’s advocacy and public stance must be evaluated based on fact, not fiction. The allegations of abuse he has made demand an independent investigation, especially since the very agencies meant to protect citizens appear complicit in his ordeal.

We issue a clear warning: nothing must happen to this young man. Any harm to him will not go unnoticed or unchallenged. Nigerians deserve truth, accountability, and a leadership that respects the rule of law — not a regime that weaponizes power to silence dissent.”

The statement stated that Atiku Abubakar remains firmly committed to the principles of democracy, rule of law, and the use of education as a cornerstone for national progress and development.

It added that the former Vice President will not be distracted by false narratives or cowardly intimidation.

  • THIS MATTER MUST END BY MAY 8” — JUDGE DECLARES AS NNAMDI KANU'S 10-YEAR LEGAL SAGA NEARS CRUCIAL VERDICT

Justice James Omotosho has declared that the prolonged legal proceedings involving detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, must come to a final conclusion no later than May 8, 2025. The fiery declaration came during a court session at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, reigniting nationwide anticipation surrounding one of Nigeria’s most polarizing legal battles

This matter must come to a conclusion by the 8th of May 2025. It has lingered for 10 years, and I’m not going to stew to it more,” Justice Omotosho stated. “We are going to give account of our actions here on Earth when we die—I want to give a good account.” His statement has since gone viral, energizing both Kanu’s supporters and observers of Nigeria’s justice system.

The court has now been adjourned to May 6th, 7th, and 8th for final arguments and potential rulings. The judge made it clear that the judiciary must uphold its responsibility without fear or favor. “Justice cannot be stalled indefinitely,” he said, adding that any further delay would be unacceptable in a case that has tested the legal and political fabric of the country.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been in and out of court since his initial arrest in 2015. His ongoing prosecution over charges including treasonable felony and terrorism has sparked widespread protests, international advocacy, and heated national debate over self-determination and government accountability.

Despite being granted bail in 2017, Kanu’s re-arrest in Kenya and subsequent extradition to Nigeria in 2021 reignited fresh waves of tension in the South-East. His legal team has repeatedly accused the federal government of disobeying court orders, while the government insists that his actions threaten national security.

Human rights groups, traditional leaders, and political actors across Nigeria have weighed in over the years, with some calling for political solutions and others urging the courts to assert their independence. Justice Omotosho’s declaration appears to signal a judicial turning point, one that could shape the future of separatist movements and government opposition.

As the nation watches closely, the dates of May 6th to 8th have now been dubbed “Judgment Week” by many on social media. Whether the court rules for release, further detention, or a fresh direction, one thing is certain—the echoes of this verdict will reverberate far beyond the courtroom.

  • 2027: IF INEC CONDUCTS FREE ELECTION, OBI DOESN’T NEED COALITION AGAINST TINUBU – NLC

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State does not need a coalition to defeat Bola Tinubu as president, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has said.Nigerian political art prints

The Congress said it important to note that once the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducts a free and fair election, the 2027 presidential election would be a workover for Obi.

The Deputy President of the NLC Political Commission, Theophilus Ndubuaku noted that the coalition currently being championed by a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai means nothing to Obi.

He also dismissed speculations that Peter Obi plans to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ndubuaku describing PDP as a crisis-ridden party said Obi was already coasting to victory before the controversial glitches that gave room for the All Progressives Congress to clinch the seat.

“Peter Obi doesn’t need any coalition to win the 2027 presidential election. He is a sellable candidate.

“If you recall, he was already coasting to victory in the 2023 elections before the controversial glitches. He even defeated Tinubu in his own stronghold in Lagos, which shows Nigerians want him in power.”
For as long as INEC conducts a free and fair election, he will win. He can also leverage his local and international connections to make it happen,” Ndubuaku said.

  • E-MONEY RELEASED AFTER EFCC INTERROGATION

Popular businessman and socialite Emeka Okonkwo, known widely as E-Money, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after being questioned for several hours.

E-Money was picked up by EFCC officials on Monday night at his home in Omole, Lagos, and taken to their office in Abuja. His arrest was connected to allegations of naira abuse and mishandling of foreign currency. Authorities say he was seen spraying US dollars at a public event — an action that goes against the Foreign Exchange Act.

EFCC has recently increased efforts to enforce currency regulations, especially since 2024, citing Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act which bans the abuse of the naira and defacing of foreign currency.

After his release on Tuesday night, E-Money addressed his fans through a video posted on Instagram. The post showed him sitting in an elegant room with a gospel song playing in the background. He wrote, “No tension, everywhere good. I see all your love and support. God bless you all.”

  • EFCC ARRESTS AISHA ACHIMUGU AT ABUJA AIRPORT, SEE WHAT SHE DID

As reported by DAILY POST, Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested prominent businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, early Tuesday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to her legal team, Achimugu returned voluntarily from London and was taken into custody at approximately 5:00 a.m.

The arrest comes amid an ongoing EFCC investigation into alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

Her lawyer confirmed that she had informed the Federal High Court in Abuja, through sworn documents, of her intent to visit the EFCC on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

This was in compliance with a court order issued by Justice Inyang Ekwo, mandating her appearance before the anti-graft agency.

Justice Ekwo had ruled earlier that Achimugu must present herself before the EFCC to assist in its inquiries.

Additionally, the court instructed that she appear before it on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to continue legal proceedings tied to the case.

Details of the specific allegations remain unclear, but the case has drawn public attention given Achimugu’s profile in both the business and social circles.

The EFCC has yet to release an official statement regarding the arrest or charges.

However, sources close to the investigation suggest that her questioning is connected to financial transactions flagged during broader anti-corruption probes.

Achimugu’s legal team has urged respect for her rights and emphasized her willingness to cooperate fully with the authorities.

As of press time, she remains in EFCC custody.

  • TRIBUNAL UPHOLDS N190 MILLION FINE AGAINST NBC FOR MISLEADING COKE PACKAGING.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) in Abuja has upheld a N190 million fine against the Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC).
The fine relates to misleading packaging on Coke products, specifically the “Original Taste, Less Sugar” variant, which was found to mislead consumers into believing it was identical to the regular “Original Taste” version.

Despite NBC’s attempts to contest the penalty, the Tribunal reaffirmed that the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) was justified in issuing the fine.

The issue dates back to allegations made by the FCCPC, which claimed that NBC and its partner, Coca-Cola Nigeria Ltd (CCNL), engaged in misleading trade descriptions and deceptive marketing practices. NBC, however, took the matter to the Tribunal, appealing for the fine to be overturned.
The company argued that the mislabeling was not intentional but was due to a production error at one of its plants. The mislabeling occurred at NBC’s Abuja plant, which, according to NBC, was an isolated incident.

NBC’s legal team, led by Oluseye Opasanya (SAN), contended that the findings of the FCCPC were overreaching.

They questioned the adequacy of the evidence used to impose the fine, suggesting that the investigation should have extended to other factories to establish whether the mislabeling occurred at a broader scale.

In their defence, they pointed out that the alleged misrepresentation was an unintentional mistake, not a deliberate act of deception.

The Tribunal, however, was not swayed. In its ruling, chaired by Thomas Okosun, the Tribunal dismissed NBC’s appeal, stating that the actions of the company were indeed misleading and in violation of the law.

The Tribunal found that NBC’s approach to settling the issue with the FCCPC after the judgment had been reserved was improper and contrary to legal norms. As Okosun noted, such a settlement attempt post-judgment reservation “undermines the FCCPC’s role as a regulator” and “exceeds its powers.”

The Tribunal further criticised the manner in which the FCCPC handled the settlement. Despite earlier indications that a settlement had been reached, the Tribunal found that accepting the settlement after final addresses had been submitted was inappropriate and beyond the Commission’s regulatory remit.

The Tribunal made it clear that it would not indulge in private compromises and upheld its duty to the public by sticking to its constitutional mandate.

Ultimately, the Tribunal ruled that the N190 million penalty imposed by the FCCPC was both lawful and appropriate, in line with the provisions of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) and the 1999 Constitution. NBC was given 60 days to pay the fine.

This ruling is part of a bigger issue, with Coca-Cola Nigeria Ltd and the FCCPC also engaged in a separate case over an additional N186.67 million penalty related to the company’s labelling and marketing practices.

For now, the FCCPC has agreed not to take further enforcement action against NBC or Coca-Cola until the appeals are resolved.

One morning, as Ajoke was busy baking, a man walked into her bakery. He introduced himself as Uche, the owner of a coffee shop down the street.

  • WE HAVE TURNED TO SPIRITUAL MEANS. WE’VE STARTED FROM KOGI AND KWARA - ADEGBENRO OGUNLANA

According to Punch, as insecurity escalates across Nigeria, various forest-based security groups have renewed their call for federal recognition, insisting they can combine traditional spiritual methods with local expertise to combat terrorism. Among them is the Agbekoya Farmers’ Society, whose Secretary-General, Adegbenro Ogunlana, revealed that spiritual interventions have already been deployed in parts of the country, following directives from the Ifa oracle.

He said, "We have turned to spiritual means. We’ve started from Kogi and Kwara."

According to Ogunlana, sacrifices were carried out across Yoruba-speaking regions, including Kogi and Kwara states, to ward off attacks. He claimed some community members aiding terrorists had been apprehended, stressing that the spiritual approach aims to restore peace and combat threats from within.

He lamented the absence of centralized leadership in Yorubaland and expressed concern that state institutions often discourage self-defense, even as terror groups operate using spiritual tools.

Ogunlana emphasized that the intervention became necessary as violent attacks continued to plague Yoruba communities, especially those with significant natural resources.

In response, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, acknowledged the worsening security situation and noted that discussions were ongoing with senior Yoruba leaders. He pointed to intelligence reports indicating that terrorists have infiltrated strategic areas, particularly mineral-rich communities. Adams warned that the infiltration of Ibadan and other cities suggests a deepening crisis, which the political class is largely ignoring.

Meanwhile, the Commander of Patrol and Guards for the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) in North-Central, Alhaji Muhammad Ahmed, urged President Bola Tinubu to sign a pending bill that would formalize their operations. He disclosed that the NFSS, formerly known as the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, already has Senate and House approval and is only awaiting presidential assent.

Ahmed emphasized that real hunters, distinct from administrative personnel, possess spiritual abilities vital to confronting the nation’s security challenges. He claimed these operatives understand the terrain of the forests where terrorists hide and have encountered them on several occasions.
He expressed strong confidence that once the NFSS is legalized, spiritual forces alongside traditional bushcraft will be strategically deployed to neutralize criminal threats. Ahmed believes this dual approach will drastically reduce violence and restore national security.

  • Tribunal upholds FCCPC’s $220m fine against Meta

The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal has upheld the $220 million fine imposed on Meta Platforms Incorporated by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC.

The Director for Corporate Affairs of FCCPC, Ondaje Ijagwu, made this announcement in a statement on Friday.

Ijagwu said that the tribunal also awarded the commission $35,000 to cover the investigation costs.

DAILY POST reports that Meta and WhatsApp appealed the fine imposed by the FCCPC after the regulator concluded that the companies engaged in discriminatory and exploitative practices against Nigerian consumers.
The fine arose from a 38-month joint investigation initiated by the FCCPC and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, NDPC, into the conduct, privacy practices, and consumer data policies of Meta Platforms and WhatsApp.

The statement read in part, “The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal today delivered its judgment in the appeal filed by Meta Platforms Incorporated (Facebook) and WhatsApp LLC against the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), affirming the Commission’s authority and actions in nearly all the contested issues.

“The Tribunal specifically determined that the Commission complied with prevailing laws, discharged its mandate, and exercised its powers within the confines of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). It ruled that the multiple actions by WhatsApp and Meta, for which the Commission made findings of violations, were correctly identified, and that the Commission did not err in making those findings.

“In addition to upholding the major aspects of the FCCPC’s Final Order, the Tribunal awarded the sum of $220 million against Meta Platforms Incorporated and WhatsApp LLC as an administrative penalty, and further awarded $35,000 to the FCCPC as cost of investigation.”
Recall that the FCCPC had on 19 July 2024 issued a Final Order imposing a $220 million administrative penalty after concluding that the companies engaged in discriminatory and exploitative practices against Nigerian consumers.

The case arose from a 38-month joint investigation initiated by the FCCPC and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, NDPC, into the conduct, privacy practices, and consumer data policies of Meta Platforms and WhatsApp.

  • Assassination:Major Plot Has Been Prepared Against Our Country, the Ultimate Aim to cause Chaos-Sana

Burkina Faso’s transitional government has revealed a foiled assassination attempt targeting Captain Ibrahim Traore, exposing a major plot allegedly orchestrated from neighboring Ivory Coast. According to Security Minister Mahamadou Sana, intelligence services uncovered the plan, which was aimed at plunging the country into chaos.

In a statement broadcast on national television, Sana said, “The meticulous work of the intelligence service revealed a major plot being prepared against our country, the ultimate aim of which is to sow total chaos.” He added that the assault was scheduled for April 16, 2025, and was to be executed by a group of soldiers recruited by foreign-based conspirators.

Authorities have identified the plot’s masterminds as two exiled former army officers, Major Joanny Compaore and Lieutenant Abdramane Barry, both allegedly operating from Ivory Coast. A dozen soldiers, including two officers, were arrested in connection with the scheme.

This development comes amid heightened insecurity in Burkina Faso, where Traore’s junta faces growing criticism for repression and the worsening insurgency crisis. The government continues to accuse Ivory Coast of backing destabilizing elements

  • How a Young PhD Holder Who Came to Me for Prayers Kept Correcting My English" – Apostle Suleman
Apostle Johnson Suleman, the founder and senior pastor of Omega Fire Ministries International, recounted a striking encounter during a recent Recovery Conference, involving a highly educated young man who came to him for prayers — but ended up repeatedly correcting his English.

Sharing the experience, Apostle Suleman said the man, who holds three PhDs, was brought to his office by his mother for spiritual help. However, instead of receiving prayers calmly, the man became fixated on the apostle’s pronunciation and grammar. “While we were talking, I said, ‘The power of God is coming.’ He quickly corrected me, saying, ‘No, it’s not power,’” Suleman recalled.

The corrections didn't stop. “Everything I said, he would adjust. I was saying ‘God’ and he insisted it should be pronounced differently. He even corrected me when I said ‘debt’ — he thought I meant ‘death.’ I asked him, ‘Who died?’”

Despite the man’s academic achievements, Suleman noted that he was unable to hold down a job, often due to his habit of correcting superiors and colleagues. “He’d tell his boss, ‘That’s not how to write an email,’ and insisted on meetings about management decisions in another man’s company,” he said.

Suleman expressed his concern that while the man was intellectually gifted, he lacked the practical fruit of his knowledge. “He had leaves, but no fruit,” the preacher said, referencing the biblical metaphor of a fruitless tree. “You’ve gone through the four walls of education, yet your current reality makes your body cringe. Truth must produce corresponding evidence.”

He concluded by declaring spiritual liberation over the congregation: “Anything against your fruitfulness shall be roasted.”

  • Giant Tomato Tree in China Yields 3,000 KG Annually from a Single Plant | Earth Day 2025 Observation

A towering tomato plant showcased at the Vegetable Expo in Shouguang, Shandong, has become a focal point of public and media interest due to its impressive size and production capacity on Apr 20th 2025. According to the OceanWetlands’ latest report, this plant, often referred to as a “tomato tree,” stands over two meters tall and covers a canopy area of approximately 150 square meters. According to expo organizers, this single plant is capable of yielding up to 6,000 jin (around 3,000 kilograms) of tomatoes annually.
Despite its extraordinary appearance, the tomato tree was cultivated from regular tomato seeds. The transformation into a tree-like structure was achieved through advanced agricultural techniques, including pruning, nutrient regulation, and environmental control. These methods stimulate continuous growth, resulting in a large and long-living plant structure.

Expo staff emphasized that the tomatoes produced by this plant are similar in taste and quality to standard tomatoes. However, due to the plant’s high space and maintenance demands, the cultivation model is currently limited to exhibition and research purposes. The structure requires significant vertical and horizontal space, as well as controlled conditions that are not easily replicable on regular farms.

For now, the tomato tree is not considered viable for commercial-scale farming. Agricultural experts note that while a typical farmer can afford minor losses in conventional tomato cultivation, the high input costs and space requirements of a single tomato tree mean that any failure could result in substantial financial loss. As a result, this model is primarily adopted in agricultural parks and controlled environments rather than in widespread farming practice.

Interestingly, this type of cultivation is not entirely new. Reports from previous years indicate that similar tomato trees in the region have been in development since at least 2018. One such plant was recognized by the Shanghai Great World Guinness Records for its high yield from a single vine.

Tomatoes, also known as fanqie in Chinese, originated in the Andes region of South America as small, sour wild fruits. Brought to Europe by Spanish colonizers in the 16th century, they were initially grown as ornamental plants due to their vibrant color. It wasn’t until the 18th century that Italians began using tomatoes in cooking, sparking their culinary popularity across Europe. Introduced to China during the Ming Dynasty, tomatoes were first seen as decorative, but gradually became a staple ingredient. Today, valued for their rich nutrition and sweet-tart flavor, tomatoes are one of the most widely cultivated and consumed fruits worldwide.

China’s agriculture is undergoing a crucial phase of modernization. The focus is shifting from food quantity to quality, sustainability, and efficiency. Innovative cultivation methods—like the high-yield, space-saving tomato tree—reflect this change. Such techniques not only boost productivity and reduce labor but also support industrial growth and rural revitalization. Though not yet mainstream, the tomato tree exemplifies how agricultural science is exploring new frontiers, offering fresh possibilities for the future of farming.

  • Groom cancels wedding over bride’s infidelity, marries another lady same date, venue

The solemnisation of holy matrimony between a groom, Henry James, and Miss Afiniki Ibrahim was reportedly called off few days to the occasion.
The wedding scheduled to have been held on the 12th of April, 2025, in Saminaka, Lere Local Government of Kaduna State, was called off after the bride was discovered to be pregnant.

Our correspondent gathered that the bride was discovered pregnant after a series of tests were conducted by the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA).

It was gathered that the doctrine of the church stipulates that every couple is mandated to carry out several tests by the church medical team in a bid to ascertain their compatibility and to ascertain if the ”bed has been defiled”.

A source who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity revealed that Miss Afiniki was discovered pregnant after the tests were carried out.

However, the groom-to-be distanced himself from the pregnancy, saying he did not have any knowledge of her throughout their courtship.

The discovery prompted Henry to call off the wedding.

In a dramatic twist, it was gathered that the secretary asked the disgruntled groom to marry Miss Godiya, a member of the church who had once rejected his love advances.

The secretary it was gathered, spoke to Godiya, who, in turn, expressed her readiness to marry Henry.
With her acceptance, Henry and Godiya tied the nuptials on the same date, same venue he was to marry his pregnant ex-fiancée.

  • A lawyer sold his well to a teacher. Two days later, the lawyer came to the teacher and said, "Sir, I sold you the well, but it's not with the water inside! If you want to use the water, you will have to pay extra."

The teacher smiled and replied, "Yes, I was about to come to you. I was going to say that you should take your water from my well, or else you will have to start paying rent from tomorrow."

Hearing this, the lawyer got nervous and said, "Oh, I was just joking!"

The teacher laughed and said, "This is how people like you become lawyers after studying with us."

    Salute to teachers!

  • Four killed as suspected cultists attack Bayelsa community ..

Four persons have been confirmed dead and several others injured as suspected cultists invaded the Swali community in the heart of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Easter Sunday.

PUNCH Online gathered that the masked assailants arrived in the community at about midnight in a Toyota Hilux van armed with assault weapons such as AK47 and started shooting indiscriminately at residents celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

A resident, who did not want to be named, described the attack as terrible and said that since he took up residence in the riverine suburb, he had not witnessed such violence unleashed on innocent citizens.

“It was terrible, I have never seen anything like this since I started living here over 10 years ago,” he told Punch Metro on Tuesday.

According to him, the attack was not connected to armed robbers as the gunmen did not steal any property, but just aimed at their targets and took off.

Although calm was restored following the attack, there remained an uneasy calm as fear still hovered over the community, which had witnessed other cult-related violence in the past.

Swali Community, which hosts the Swali Ultra Modern Market, the largest market in the state, is close to several security formations in the state.

It was also gathered that two cult groups, the Greenlanders and Bobos, have been fighting for supremacy in the community, but it was not certain if the attack was related to their ongoing feud.

The member representing Yenagoa Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Ayibanegiyefa Egba, has condemned the brutal attack that resulted in the tragic loss of four lives of her constituents.

Egba visited the community on Tuesday and described the attack as barbaric and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire Swali community.

She emphasised the need for unity and vigilance within the community to resist external forces and advised the youths to shun vices that could truncate their lives.

Egba said, “This attack is brutal and I condole with the families of those who have lost loved ones. I called on all the residents to be united and vigilant in the face of this incident.

“I equally call on the youths to shun external influences and also shun vices that can truncate their lives.”
The Paramount Ruler of Swali Community, HRH Wilcox Seiyefa Job, called on the state government to mount police posts at strategic locations in order to avert future attacks.

Chief Job pleaded with the government to help ensure the safety and security of his subjects from future attacks, explaining that the community had requested the mounting of a police post to beef up security.

His words, “I called on the state government to set up police posts at strategic points to avert future attacks and also establish a police station in the community in order to safeguard the lives of my subjects.”
When contacted, the Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Musa Mohammed, who confirmed the attack, said security has been beefed up to restore normalcy in the community.

He said the attack may not be related to a cult clash, but law enforcement measures were in place to ensure no further breakdown of law and order or destruction of lives and property happens in that community again.

“Normalcy has returned to the community and security measures have been put in place to ensure no further breakdown of law and order or destruction of lives and property,” Mohammed stated.

Nigerian politician Ned Nwoko has made his actress wife, Regina Daniels, the envy of all women by dressing her up.

When he was done dressing his wife, he asked the people around if their husband treats them the way he did with Regina.
While at that, the caption of the video argued that every woman dreams of a love like the politician and the actress, but cannot have it.

“Every woman dreams, but only a few wake up to a love like this. Can your husband ever? @regina.daniels is the most blessed”.

    Watch the video below:

  • Who is Saudi Arabia's Sleeping Prince who is sleeping for 20 years?

Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, known as Saudi Arabia’s “Sleeping Prince,” has been in a coma since a 2005 car accident caused a brain hemorrhage
Since the accident, Prince Al-Waleed has been under continuous medical care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh. He is sustained by life support systems, including mechanical ventilation and a feeding tube. Reports from 2019 noted slight movements—like lifting a finger or subtle head gestures—though these signs did not suggest a return to full consciousness.

When doctors initially recommended removing him from life support, his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, declined. He expressed his belief that had it been God's will for his son to die in the accident, it would have happened at that time—implying that survival held a divine purpose.

  • Captain Ibrahim Traoré: The soldier selling Africa false hope, By Umar Farouk Bala

Traoré’s anti-democratic posture is not a blueprint for development — it is a calculated strategy to entrench military rule under the guise of a populist revolution.

What Traoré is selling is not a radical reimagining of governance. It is an age-old authoritarian tactic: discredit democracy, invoke national pride, and suppress dissent — all while consolidating power… Since assuming power through a 2022 coup, Traoré has suspended political parties, cracked down on the press, and muzzled civil society organisations. He claims these actions defend national sovereignty and promote a “popular, progressive revolution.”
Clad in fatigues and fluent in fiery rhetoric, Captain Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso has emerged as a poster child of a new wave of African populism. To his supporters, he is a revolutionary — bold, youthful, and principled.

To the disillusioned youth across the continent, he offers a seductive promise: progress without the inconveniences of democracy. But behind the revolutionary slogans and Sankara-inspired aesthetics lies a far less romantic reality.
Traoré’s anti-democratic posture is not a blueprint for development — it is a calculated strategy to entrench military rule under the guise of a populist revolution. Let us be clear, Africa has every right to interrogate the forms and functions of democracy on the continent.
For decades, many African states have endured dysfunctional governance, hollow elections, and endemic corruption — even under democratically elected leaders. But that frustration must not be manipulated into legitimising authoritarianism.

  • We attacked villages and killed people; when we left bush we were shown Islam doctrine—Ex-Boko Haram

A repentant Boko Haram terrorist has shared his regrets after leaving the group. He said he joined the group in 2020 and took part in attacks on many communities. He said they caused a lot of destruction and killed people but he deeply regrets those actions.

Speaking in a video shared by Daily Trust TV, the ex-Boko Haram man said the northern communities they attacked and destroyed had the resources to help the region grow, and if they had known better, they would not have destroyed the communities. He said after coming out of the bush he was taught the true teachings of Islam, which made him realize that what they were doing was wrong.
The man called on his former friends still in Boko Haram to stop fighting, saying that their actions are not in line with what God wants. He urged them to surrender and choose peace, just like he did, so they too can have a chance to live a better and more meaningful life.

In his words: "I joined the Boko Haram campaign in 2020, we attacked many communities and shed innocent blood. We regret everything we destroyed especially in the lake chad, if we knew we would not have done it because the communities have everything to take care of this region. But when we left the bush, we were revealed to the true doctrine of Islam. I want to tell my former friends that what they are doing is not the work of Allah, they should come out and embrace peace"

Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Pope Francis, has died at the age of 88 years at his residence in the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta.
