  • BOIL GINGER AND CASSAVA LEAVES FREQUENTLY TO TREAT THESE COMMON DISEASES NATURALLY

In many African homes, traditional remedies continue to play a vital role in everyday health care. One powerful but often overlooked combination is ginger and cassava leaves — two natural ingredients with a long history in herbal medicine. When boiled together, this mixture is believed to help manage a variety of health conditions…

But what does tradition — and science — say about this powerful herbal duo?

    Why Ginger?
Ginger is a well-known root that contains gingerol, a compound with anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. It’s used worldwide for:

    Reducing nausea and vomiting

    Lowering inflammation

    Relieving muscle pain

    Managing high blood sugar

    Supporting immune health

    Why Cassava Leaves?
Cassava leaves are rich in vitamin C, iron, calcium, and plant proteins. In traditional medicine, boiled cassava leaves are used for:

    Treating malaria symptoms

Boosting blood production (especially in anemia)

    Supporting wound healing

    Relieving diarrhea and stomach issues

    Fighting fatigue and general weakness

Note: Cassava leaves must be properly cooked to remove toxic compounds like cyanide.

Diseases This Herbal Combo May Help Manage
    Malaria (symptom relief)
Boiling cassava leaves may help reduce fever and body weakness, while ginger helps fight inflammation.

    Anemia
The iron and protein in cassava leaves, combined with ginger’s ability to stimulate digestion and circulation, can help boost blood levels.

    Arthritis and Joint Pain
Ginger’s anti-inflammatory effects can ease pain, while cassava leaves provide supportive nutrients.

    Menstrual Cramps
Ginger is a known natural remedy for cramp relief, and cassava leaves provide iron lost during menstruation.

    Fatigue & Low Immunity
Together, this combo delivers vitamins, antioxidants, and iron—helping to fight tiredness and boost your body’s defense system.

    How to Prepare It
    Ingredients:

1 handful of fresh cassava leaves (properly washed)

1 thumb-sized piece of ginger (sliced or crushed)

    3–4 cups of clean water

    Instructions:

Boil the cassava leaves and ginger in water for 15–20 minutes.

Allow to cool slightly, then strain.

Drink 1 cup in the morning and/or evening, no more than 3 times per week.

Always consult a healthcare professional before starting any herbal remedy—especially if you’re pregnant, nursing, or on medication.

While ginger and cassava leaves are not magical cures, they are powerful natural allies in promoting better health. When prepared correctly and used in moderation, this combination may help relieve symptoms of common ailments and boost overall wellness.

But remember: herbal remedies should complement, not replace, medical advice. Use them wisely and always stay informed.

  • POLICE ARREST POPULAR NIGERIAN INFLUENCER, VERYDARKMAN

Popular Nigerian social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, known widely as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Abuja.
Naija News reports that VDM was arrested following his public criticism of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) over alleged unauthorised transactions from his mother’s bank account.

VDM’s lawyer, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest on Friday, revealing that VeryDarkMan was apprehended by officers of the Nigeria Police Force at Area 3 in Abuja.

The arrest reportedly followed the influencer’s outspoken criticism of the bank on social media.

“JUST IN: VDM arrested by the police at GTB. Spoke to them before he was arrested. This is absolutely unacceptable. Demanding accountability is not a crime,” Adeyanju wrote in his first update on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter).

In a follow-up statement, Adeyanju provided further details, stating that a team of policemen had arrested VDM at the bank, alongside his friend, C Park.

However, according to Adeyanju, VDM’s mother, who was also involved in the case, was not apprehended.

They arrested VDM at GTB. He was arrested with his friend C Park but they left his mom alone,” Adeyanju tweeted.

Verydarkman in an earlier post had revealed that they visited a GTBank branch in Abuja to demand an explanation and obtain a copy of her bank statement.

He wrote, “Myself and my mom just arrived at GTBank to get an explanation for the constant debit from her account by GTBank in the name of loan repayments that she never took.

“In this year alone, see the amount of times she has been debited with different amounts.

We have requested her bank statements so we know when the debiting started.

“So far, in this year alone, there have been more than seven debits on loan repayments.

“GTBank staff are cooperating—hopefully, we’ll know why they keep doing this.”

  • Amad, Heaven, De Ligt - Man Utd Injury News and Return Dates Before Bournemouth and Athletic Bilbao

Manchester United are navigating a crucial phase in their season as they prepare for vital fixtures against Bournemouth and Athletic Bilbao, with several players recovering from injury setbacks. Here’s the latest injury update from Manchester Evening News as manager Ruben Amorim evaluates his squad.

De Ligt suffered an ankle injury in the match against Nottingham Forest. Although he stayed on the pitch until halftime, he hasn't played since. Amorim recently stated that while de Ligt is expected back before the season ends, a concrete return date remains undecided.

    Ayden Heaven – Minor Injury

Heaven returned to the squad against Newcastle after missing three games, but a minor knock in training has kept him out of recent selections. The injury, caused by contact, is under review, and Amorim has not specified a return timeline.

Lisandro Martinez – Long-Term ACL Injury

Martinez remains sidelined due to a torn ACL suffered in February against Crystal Palace. He has undergone surgery and will miss the rest of the season. With a typical recovery period of six months, he is not expected back until August.

    Toby Collyer – Leg Problem

Collyer is dealing with a leg injury. Although no official return date has been provided, Amorim assured supporters that the issue is not serious, and he could be available in the coming weeks.

    Amad – Ankle Recovery

Amad was initially set to miss the remainder of the season after injuring his ankle. However, recent updates have shown signs of a possible return before the season wraps up. Amorim is hopeful he’ll be fit by May, and Amad himself has shared promising recovery updates on social media.

Joshua Zirkzee – Season-Ending Hamstring Injury

Zirkzee picked up a hamstring injury in the Newcastle game and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Despite walking off unaided, the injury is serious enough to sideline him. He is now focused on returning in time for the next pre-season.

With key games approaching, including the showdown with Athletic Bilbao, United will be hoping for timely returns from key players like Amad and de Ligt to strengthen their push at the business end of the season.

  • We weren’t allowed to tell them’: Worker quits job at bank. Then she reveals how you’re probably using Apple Cash in a way that could get you banned for life

A former bank worker reveals how some common Apple Cash habits can actually get you banned for life.

Dom (@damnndomm) posted a TikTok video with her advice on April 8. While comments on the video are disabled, it amassed 265,000 views before seemingly being deleted. “Things that you’re doing with Apple Cash that’s gonna bite you in the ssa,” she wrote in an on-screen caption.

“I used to work for the bank that processes your Apple Cash transactions, and I just feel like there’s some things now that I don’t work there that you guys should know,” she began. “Because a lot of people didn’t know these things, and we weren’t allowed to tell them either.”

What should you stop doing with Apple Cash?
Using fake names: Dom said that after you’ve received or sent $500, it will verify your identity. If your name isn’t correct, you can’t get verified and may even get restricted.
Adding your partner’s debit card to your Apple Pay when your name isn’t on the account: Dom said that can result in your account being flagged for fraud and restricted.
Setting up accounts with a fake birth date if you’re a minor: Dom said Apple Cash is only for legal adults. Minors can only have an account if their parents set it up for them via the Apple Cash Family feature. “You’re not bypassing. You’re not tricking anybody,” she added.
Using it for business purposes: Dom said Apple Cash is intended to be a person-to-person payment service. It is not intended for business owners to use to conduct sales.
Sending money to people you don’t know: Dom said many users would unknowingly send money to scammers, and the bank would not allow them to dispute the transaction because they willingly sent the money. She added that the only way the bank would accept the dispute was if you purchased something from the business and it agreed to issue you a credit, but never did.

How will Apple know you’re doing these things?

Apple Cash is Apple’s Venmo and PayPal competitor, which is serviced by Green Dot Bank. Late last year, the company announced it would start verifying the identities of anyone who sends out more than $500. Importantly, this applies not only to future transactions but also to funds you’ve already sent.

This change came along with the new Tap to Cash feature, which allows you to transfer funds to another person by holding your iPhone or Apple Watch up to theirs.

According to the terms of service, you must be 18 years or older and a legal resident of the United States to use Apple Cash. It stands to reason that Apple and Green Dot Bank would need to know your real name in order to confirm these details.

Dom said in her video that most people don’t realize Apple has processes to determine whether people are following its rules.

Apple encourages Apple Cash account holders to confirm their identities as soon as possible. That’s because the money you keep in it isn’t eligible for FDIC insurance if you don’t, and that’s what protects your money in the case a bank or financial institution holding it goes bust.

Of course, Apple is able to suspend or terminate your use of the service for pretty much any reason. That list includes security reasons, suspected fraud, and unauthorized use.

  • Cardiologist reveals the high-cholesterol food you actually should eat

High cholesterol can increase risk of heart attacks and the NHS advises that you can lower your cholesterol and boost heart health by cutting down on fatty food such as meat pies, sausages, butter, hard cheese and cakes.
But, according to a leading cardiologist, that does not mean cholesterol-rich foods have to be avoided entirely. Bath medic Dr Ali Khavandi told the Telegraph that a healthy dietary pattern is likely to be more important than avoiding certain foods. And some may even help improve blood lipid profiles, and therefore cholesterol levels.

Here are five high-cholesterol foods you don’t need to ditch:

    1. CHEESE
Cheese is a good source of protein and calcium but often high in saturated fat and salt and can raise cholesterol.
However, Dr Khavandi said: “Everyone thinks that cheese is a disaster. I often hear people say ‘my cholesterol is high, so I shouldn’t eat cheese’, but there’s good data that long-fermented cheeses [such as aged cheddar] are beneficial.”

    2. Eggs
It was previously thought that people should limit the number of eggs they eat per week to three or four, due to concerns about high cholesterol in their yolks.

But recent research suggests they have a much smaller effect on total cholesterol and harmful LDL cholesterol than other fatty foods.

Dr Khavandi said: “I think if you ate lots of eggs then your total cholesterol would probably go up but whether or not that would result in any prognostic problems further down the line is arguable. If you’re otherwise healthy then it’s unlikely to be an issue.”

    3. Red meat

Eating a lot of red meat can increase levels of LDL cholesterol, but Dr Khavandi said the issue was often over-simplified.

He added: “The received wisdom is that LDL cholesterol is bad, there’s a linear relationship with cardiovascular disease and the best thing you can do is reduce it by cutting out saturated fats from your diet, but that model is now outdated.

“If your cholesterol is high because you are part of that ‘metabolic’ group, then changing your dietary pattern from high sugar/high carbohydrate to eating minimally processed, satiating foods is far more beneficial.”

Lean red meat, trimmed of visible fat, can have less impact on cholesterol levels than fattier cuts of processed meats.

Dr Khavandi said: “Eating a good-quality steak, which is high in protein, improves appetite regulation, which can help bring metabolic disorders under control. It’s very similar to what the GLP-1 medications like Ozempic do; they shut off your hunger.”

    4. Shellfish
Shellfish such as shrimp, prawns, crabs and lobsters can be rich in cholesterol. However, they contain very little saturated fat.

The Shellfish Association of Great Britain says on its website: “Eating more shellfish and seafood in your diet is a great way to balance your diet as they’re often packed with minerals, nutrients; they’re low in fat and low calorie.”

    5. Liver
Liver is a lean meat which is high in cholesterol, as well as being rich in nutrients like iron and vitamin A.

Charity Heart UK advises that most people do not need to cut down on foods such as liver pate and offal as long as they are eaten as part of a healthy, balanced diet.

If you’re otherwise healthy then it’s unlikely to be an issue.” 3. Red meat Eating a lot of red meat can increase levels of LDL cholesterol, but Dr Khavandi said the issue was often over-simplified. He added: “The received wisdom is that LDL cholesterol is bad, there’s a linear relationship with cardiovascular disease and the best thing you can do is reduce it by cutting out saturated fats from your diet, but that model is now outdated. “If your cholesterol is high because you are part of that ‘metabolic’ group, then changing your dietary pattern from high sugar/high carbohydrate to eating minimally processed, satiating foods is far more beneficial.” Lean red meat, trimmed of visible fat, can have less impact on cholesterol levels than fattier cuts of processed meats. Dr Khavandi said: “Eating a good-quality steak, which is high in protein, improves appetite regulation, which can help bring metabolic disorders under control. It’s very similar to what the GLP-1 medications like Ozempic do; they shut off your hunger.” 4. Shellfish Shellfish such as shrimp, prawns, crabs and lobsters can be rich in cholesterol. However, they contain very little saturated fat. The Shellfish Association of Great Britain says on its website: “Eating more shellfish and seafood in your diet is a great way to balance your diet as they’re often packed with minerals, nutrients; they’re low in fat and low calorie.” 5. Liver Liver is a lean meat which is high in cholesterol, as well as being rich in nutrients like iron and vitamin A. Charity Heart UK advises that most people do not need to cut down on foods such as liver pate and offal as long as they are eaten as part of a healthy, balanced diet.

  • Names, faces behind CBEX fraud unveiled as Nigerians lose ₦1.3 trillion

Investigations by FIJ have revealed the faces of key individuals behind CryptoBridge Exchange (CBEX), a fraudulent investment scheme that scammed Nigerians out of an estimated N1.3 trillion.

CBEX, initially marketed as a quick way to make money without economic value, crashed in April, leaving investors devastated.

As reports emerged, many were unable to access their profile dashboards, confirming the scheme’s collapse.

Despite the growing evidence, many remained in denial until it became clear that their funds had been locked away.

Following the crash, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) launched an investigation into CBEX, vowing to recover the lost funds.

Additionally, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) confirmed that CBEX was unlicensed, having never received approval to operate within Nigeria’s capital market.

FIJ’s investigation has identified several individuals who played major roles in promoting the scheme. CBEX was linked to ST Investment Co., Ltd., owned by Harold David Charles, a 55-year-old Briton.
Charles, presented as a wealth management expert, introduced CBEX to Nigeria through media campaigns in January 2023.

The company itself was not registered, although its affiliate, ST Technologies International, was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and issued an anti-money laundering certificate.

The scheme’s other affiliates included Smart Treasure and Super Technology—dubious names with a consistent use of “S.T.”
Among the identified promoters are Adefowora Abiodun and Oluwanisola Adefowora, whose close association suggests they may be siblings or a couple. Other key figures include Seyi Oloyede and Emmanuel Uko.

While the promoters continue to evade questions, investigations into their operations continue.

The aftermath of CBEX’s collapse has left many investors grappling with financial losses, and authorities are working to bring those responsible to justice

  • No Matter How Much You Love Her, Never Tell A Woman These 2 Things In Relationship or Marriage

Did you know that women can tolerate mild insults very well, especially if they come from a partner or a close friend? Choose this lesson if you were not aware of this knowledge. Imagine meeting a stunning woman who possesses all of these unique traits as well as a nice appearance. You would undoubtedly pay attention to this woman

You both decide to begin dating one another after falling in love, and you’re all eager to start your new love lives. When you get to that point, when you’re completely smitten with her, you’ll feel as though you can tell her anything without worrying that she’ll reject you. Permit me to interrupt you there: love should never make you forget the reality about certain things, no matter how much you might want to.

    1. You absolutely must not ever tell her how many different women you have been in your life.

In this situation, she would always be on the lookout for you. I know that being open and honest about things isn’t necessarily the worst course of action, but there’s a chance that doing so can have unforeseen effects. If you have had romantic relationships with more than 15 different women, you may disclose that you have an ex-girlfriend; otherwise, you should keep this information to yourself

You shouldn’t bring up any unfavorable things your family has said about her.

Because of this, she might grow to hate your family, break up with you, and be upset about it, which could lead her to develop unjustified resentment toward them. You should never discuss the derogatory things that your family has said about her, instead of trying to correct her when she makes a mistake.

  • You Have Case To Answer–Court Tells Abba Kyari, Others;Shettima Honours Olowolafe

A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected the no-case submissions made by a former head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), DCP Abba Kyari, and four other of his co-defendants.

Kyari and four members of the IRT – ACP Sunday J. Ubua, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirgba and Inspector John Nuhu are being prosecuted on charges of conspiracy to deal in 17.55kg of cocaine.

They are also accused of dealing in cocaine without lawful authority; conspiracy to tamper with cocaine and unlawfully tampering with the 21.35kg of cocaine seized from two convicted drug dealers.

Each of the five defendants had made a no-case submission after the prosecuting agency – the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) – closed its case after calling a number of witnesses

They had argued, among others, that the prosecution failed to establish a prima face against them to warrant their being called upon to to enter defence.

Ruling Friday, Justice Emeka Nwite held that, with the state of evidence led so far by the prosecution, he was convinced that a prima facie case had been established against the defendants to require them to put forward d.their defence.

Justice Nwite held the same view in the five separate rulings he delivered on Friday.
