  • Ikaki Akwa: The Drum That Opened The Skies .

…as told by the ancient griot of the creeks to the young griot in his dream.

Listen- Not all drums beat for dance. Some call back the soul of the land.

Before Oil explorers lit their towers, before flares kissed our stars, there was a time when the gods walked in the winds and the waters still whispered secrets. It was in this time that the people of Isoma-bou-a town cupped gently by mangroves-faced a silence they had never known

    The Silence of the Sky.
For seven moons, the rain refused to fall.
    The yam mounds cracked.
The fish vanished into deep holes.
    Children coughed dry tears.
    Even the moon looked thirsty.
The town folks tried all they could, burnt sweet smelling grass, sang ancestral songs, even offered the biggest ram to the god of the storm.
But the sky remained sealed like a gourd with no mouth.
On the outskirts of Isoma- bou , on the fringes of a sacred wilderness lived Oru-yai. He was the oldest man alive in the town. No one could tell his story with certainty anymore as he was older than second oldest person- a woman named Minjita by a whole generation.
From the little accounts passed down, he was once a warrior drummer, whose rhythm stirred crocodiles from the riverbed and made maidens dance until dawn. But Oru-yai no longer drummed. His hands, once thunderous, now trembled with grief.
    Why?
Because a long time ago, his only son,Abadibo, was taken by the Bumo-Seki , a crocodile known as the terror of the Ogulagha lake . The boy had gone fishing during the Harmattan.
Oru -yai never drummed again after his son died . He buried not just his son but also the sound and rhythm of his soul.

But one night, after the seventh moon of drought, Oru- yai woke from a dream.
In the dream,he saw his long dead son , smiling, standing in the rain.
“Dau! Adabe! the boy said, “Call the rain back. The land is dying.”

He awoke with tears on his cheeks and salt on his tongue. He could not refuse his son’s plea.
He stood up, barefoot, and made his way to the shrine at the back of his compound. It was overgrown with long grasses, sorrow and silence. There, behind old raffia curtains and the dust of forgotten supplications , he pulled out Ikaki, the drum of his ancestral lineage. Its turtle skin still glistened faintly, as though it had not forgotten its voice.
While it was still dark and the town slept,he climbed the sacred stone of his ancestors where they once held court with the guardian spirits of the lineage.
Oru- yai carressed the drum like a long lost lover. He drummed. But not like before.
This time, he didn’t just play rhythms. He wept through the ancient drum. He beat sorrow into the stars.
He struck memories into the dry earth.
    He wailed without words.
The townsfolk stirred from their slumber, they began to move one after the other towards the house from where the rythm echoed . They gathered, eyes wide, hearts pleading and trembling. They watched in silence. They hopped.
    Suddenly!
A huge cloud wizzed past. Then another.
The wind shifted. The trees shivered, swayed and bowed.
And from the deep belly of the sky came a rumble…

The Rain Returned. Everyone except Oru- yai ran into their homes for shelter.
The rain fell with rage and mercy at the same time.
It soaked the ancestors’ graves. It kissed the lips of the thirsty. It filled the empty gourds and created rivulets.
It danced on rooftops and burst open the dry seed pods.
When the rain subsided, the villagers began to make their way back to Oru-yai’s house to thank him. He was gone.
Only Ikaki-Akwa remained, sitting on the sacred stone. No footprints. No farewell.
The wise one of the town said he followed the rivulets into the lake to join his son in the realm where water nurtures and holds all.

He spoke to the worried crowd and asked them to go home and make sacrifices in their individual ancestral lineage altars to Ogina , the god of the sky. Before they dispersed , he taught everyone a three part proverb.
From that day, it became mandatory to teach every child born to Isoma-bou parents the proverb:
“He who drums with truth in his grief can speak to the sky.”
“And the gods will stir up , if one’s grief and plea is honest.”
“Some drums sound louder than thunder because they echoe from the soul.

    Reflection:
Your town or village is your Isoma-bou.
There are many Oru-yai among us-people who carry wisdom wrapped in wounds.
Do not wait for drought to seek their voice. And never mock the silence of a grieving kin. He or she may hold the rain your harvest needs.
Remember, some drums sound louder than thunder because they echo from the soul.
Ikaki Akwa: The Drum That Opened The Skies . It was in this time that the people of Isoma-bou-a town cupped gently by mangroves-faced a silence they had never known The Silence of the Sky. The land is dying.” He awoke with tears on his cheeks and salt on his tongue. And from the deep belly of the sky came a rumble… The Rain Returned. Episode 2: The Return of the Fisherman

(Seven years later. The village has changed. Amina, now in her late twenties, is treating a child with herbs.)

    Village Woman:
"They say a shadow walks by the lake at dawn. Looks like the dead come alive."

    Amina:
    (pausing)
    "By the lake?"

    Village Woman:
"Yes. Some say it’s Jabari’s ghost. Others say it's a lost traveler. Who knows? But the wind carries his name."

(The baobab tree. Early morning. Amina walks slowly, her heart pounding. She sees a figure facing the lake.)

    Amina:
    "Jabari…?"

(The man turns. His face is older, bearded, but his eyes—still the same.)

    Jabari:
    "Amina… You still come here."

    Amina:
    (running into his arms)
"They told me you were dead. I cried for you… every night. Where did they take you?"

    Jabari:
"Baraka had me sold to a slave trader. I escaped in Zanzibar. It took years, but I followed the stars home."

    Amina:
"You came back… after all this time. I waited. I never married him."

( Village square. Jabari tells his story. The chief and elders listen.)

    Village Elder:
"Such cruelty… Baraka dishonored us all."

    Chief:
"And Amina waited seven seasons. Their love endured more than any war or treaty. Let no man break what the spirits themselves have guarded."

(Cheers erupt. Women dance. Drums beat.)

Baobab tree again. Amina and Jabari hold hands.)

    Jabari:
    "We’ve lost many years."

    Amina:
"Yet found forever. And it was worth every tear… for the sake of love."

  • The Secrets of Solomon: A Witch’s Handbook from the Venetian Inquisition

This 2018 edition (edited and translated by Joseph H. Peterson) presents The Secrets of Solomon, a grimoire said to have been confiscated by the Venetian Inquisition in 1636. Peterson describes it as a collection of “secret techniques for dealing with the more dangerous spirits or daemons,” compiled from trial records and published in English for the first time.

In 16th–18th century Venice the Holy Office (Inquisizione di Stato) prosecuted heresy, superstition and witchcraft under the joint authority of the Venetian Republic and the Church. The Inquisition was active in cases of “prohibited books, superstition, and witchcraft”. In Venice’s cosmopolitan society, magical beliefs persisted even under ecclesiastical scrutiny.

The book’s central theme is infernal magic. It opens with three chief spirits (daemons) and their many servants, a hierarchy explicitly described as “chthonic and possibly infernal” beings rather than the airy spirits of classical Solomonic lore. In this sense it is seen as a precursor to the later Grimorium Verum, providing “variants on the spirit lists and procedures” that appear there.

Another major section treats the spirits of the seven celestial spheres and the four elements. These high spirits are served by mysterious entities called “Amalthai,” and elaborate rituals are given for invoking each planetary angel and elemental daemon. Peterson notes that this part includes “a long series of instructions for approaching the greater spirits through ritual, along with a set of talismans to be employed toward various ends”.

Unlike many grimoires attributed to Solomon, this one comes from real Inquisition trial documents. It offers a rare snapshot of what actual 17th-century Venetian occult practitioners recorded as their magical knowledge.

  • *Wives, learn to trust your husbands.*

Sometimes your husband may come back home late and give you one reason you cannot find in any book.

    *Let love and trust prevail.

Imagine Jonah coming back after 3 days of absence, no phone call, no message, nothing, only to tell his wife he was swallowed by a fish and vomited after 3 days just imagine how that sounded.

The wife will feel like breaking his head. ⛏⛏

    *"Swallowed by fish, really?*

*Are you talking to a baby?*

*What an insult, lying to me as if I don't have any brains?

    Which fish,* *mackerel or tilapia"?*

Even if Jonah reported the issue to a pastor, the pastor will call him aside and say *brother Jonah, why not pray against lying spirits.*

Neighbors will shout *"ahh madam, you don't understand, the fish is another woman".*

But between you and I, Jonah was telling the truth.

*To Every Wife and Husband out there...TRUST IS POWERFUL!*💪🏽

It is a necessary tool for sustaining all relationships.

Have a trustful life mostly the women in the house.
    Cheers to a fruitful week.

  • *THE RESTORER'S DAILY GUIDE*

    DATE: SUNDAY 11TH MAY 2025

    THEME: *BELIEVE NOT EVERY SPIRIT*

    MEMORIZE
    1 Thessalonians 5:21
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

    READ
    1 John 4:1-6
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

    THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
*Our beliefs control our submission, and our submission determines our destinies.*

    MESSAGE
What we believe matters a great deal to the life we live. Our beliefs set the pace for our destinies. Many times, the wrong experiences in people's lives are direct result of their wrong beliefs.

In the realm of the spirit, faith is a spiritual doorway that attracts spirits and certain happenings in our lives whether good or bad.

So we must watch what we believe, because faith can be channeled in both ways; to connect the negatives or the positive.

In today's text, the Apostle John warned that we should not believe every spirit; because who or what we believe determines who or what we submit our lives to.

The Apostle gave this warning because, there were false teachers and deceitful workers operating by the spirit of the Antichrist in those days as we have today.

And we need this saintly warning more today than the believers of his time, because we are in the last days of the very last days. And we can see the spurious effects of wrong beliefs all around us.

Our beliefs control our submission and our submission determines our destinies.

The greatest challenge of all times has been the challenge of wrong beliefs. Religion has caused more damage to our societies than we can possibly imagine or think of. And it is not unconnected with the fact that people are sometimes deceived to believe in errors instead of the truth.

Our only sure safeguard against wrong beliefs is to stay in the truth. The word of God (that manifested in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ) is the truth!

Beloved, it is not too late to set your beliefs straight in line with the word of God, especially as the year is just beginning. Mind what you believe and who you submit your life to. Ensure that your heart and soul is filled with the sound Word of God at all times.

    Shalom.

    ACTION STEPS
    1. Stay in the word of God to stay safe always.
    2. Balance everything you hear with the teachings of the Bible.
    3. Keep company with sound believers who are sound in the truth of the Bible.

    PRAYERS
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for today's devotional guide. I trust you to keep me and my family safe always in Jesus name. Amen.

    REMEMBER
*Our beliefs control our submission, and our submission determines our destinies.*

    AUTHOR: JEDIDIAH DAVID

    DAILY READING: Judges 11-12; Proverbs 11; Psalms 50-54; Matthew 24; Acts 24.

    HYMN
    Thou whose almighty word
    Chaos and darkness heard,
    And took their flight,
    Hear us, we humbly pray ;
    And, where the Gospel day
    Sheds not its glorious ray,
Let there be light ! "

    2
Thou, who didst come to bring.
    On Thy redeeming wing,
    Healing and sight "
Health to the sick in mind,
Sight to the inly blind "
    Oh, now to all mankind"
    Let there be light !"

    3
    Spirit of truth and love,
    Life-giving, holy Dove,

Shalom. ACTION STEPS 1. Stay in the word of God to stay safe always. 2. Balance everything you hear with the teachings of the Bible. 3. Keep company with sound believers who are sound in the truth of the Bible. PRAYERS Dear heavenly Father, thank you for today's devotional guide. I trust you to keep me and my family safe always in Jesus name. Amen. • Now I Understand Why My Father Was Silent

When I was a girl, I used to wonder why my father came home some nights so late, so quiet.
No smile. No stories. Just silence—and a heavy walk to his room.
Back then, I thought he was just tired.

    Now I know better.
He was fighting battles he couldn’t explain.

He was broke, but couldn’t cry.
He was sick, but couldn’t stop.
He was overwhelmed, but couldn’t show weakness.
Because men don’t get the luxury of falling apart.

The world is BRUTAL to men.
    You either produce or perish.
No break. No vacation. No soft landing. Just pressure and expectations.

    Provide. Protect. Lead.
Even when your back is broken and your soul is drained.

Now that I’m grown, I understand.
I see the pain he hid.
The nights he slept hungry so we wouldn’t.
The dreams he buried so we could dream freely.
The tears he held back so we’d feel safe.

To every man grinding in silence—I see you.
To every father sacrificing his health, his sleep, his peace—you are the real MVP.
To the fathers who died before they could witness their children's success—may your souls rest like warriors.

This is for the unsung heroes.
The men with cracked hands, bleeding hearts, and unbreakable spirits.

    You are not forgotten.
    You are not weak.
    You are not invisible.

You are the reason families stay standing.

    God bless our fathers.
    God strengthen our sons.
And may all men, carry this legacy with honor.
