*UTME 2025: TRUCK PUSHERS CANNOT DIRECT PILOTS; JAMB REGISTRAR FIRES BACK AT RESIGNATION CALLS*

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has responded strongly to critics calling for his resignation following challenges during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Speaking during a meeting with key stakeholders, including chief external examiners and civil society organizations in Abuja, Oloyede dismissed the calls for his resignation, stating that those criticizing his leadership lacked the qualifications to question his stewardship.

“Truck pushers cannot direct pilots,” he said, in reference to critics whom he believes are unqualified to advise on matters of education.

His remarks come in the wake of demands for his resignation, particularly from the South-East Caucus of the House of Representatives, following controversies that trailed this year’s UTME.

Professor Oloyede announced that JAMB will conduct a special mop-up examination for candidates who missed the 2025 UTME for genuine reasons, covering approximately 5.6% of total candidates.

“We are creating a new mop-up. Even those who missed the earlier exam due to absence will be given another opportunity. It’s not extraordinary. In any academic setting, makeup exams are normal.”

He emphasized that JAMB remains committed to inclusiveness and fairness in the exam process and reassured stakeholders that the mop-up will ensure no candidate is unjustly left out.

  • Stopping the fulani menace in Igboland: A cue from the Ohafia- Abiriba people.
The Ohafia and Abiriba people have successfully stopped the occupation of their forests and farmlands by the fulani jihadists by banning the purchase of cows for any purpose or celebrations. They use chicken, fish, and non fulani goats for celebrations and funerals. Their members who attempted to circumvent the no cow purchase are severely punished. They are heavily fined, and members of the community will not attend the event or touch the meat. Those that slaughtered cows in their componds for personal use are subject to the same rules. The fulani terrorists have left the area. What are we waiting for? Let every Igbo man encourage his village, town, or community to emulate the Abiriba and Ohafia people. We can't just talk about "stop buying and eating cows" without a means of implementation! Let's go and convince our people!!!

*JAMB ANNOUNCES MOP-UP EXAMINATION FOR ABSENT CANDIDATES*
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced a fresh round of mop-up examinations to accommodate the over 5.6 per cent of candidates who missed the just-concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made the disclosure on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, stating that the initiative will cover all affected candidates, regardless of the reason for their absence.

He said, “This time, we are creating a new mop-up. Even those who missed the earlier exam due to absence will get another opportunity.

“It’s not extraordinary. In any serious system, when students miss an exam, they’re allowed to make up—provided there’s no abuse.”
Oloyede emphasised that the UTME is a placement test, not a measure of intelligence or academic potential. “Its purpose is to rank candidates for limited admission slots, not to test how smart someone is,” he clarified.

Addressing growing criticism and conspiracy theories about the examination process, Oloyede firmly rejected claims of ethnic bias or administrative incompetence.

He stated, “I take responsibility, not because I failed, but because that’s leadership.

“I didn’t even realise people viewed issues around me through ethnic lenses. We must rise above such profiling.”

Oloyede als praised both candidates and staff for their resilience amid logistical difficulties.

“We had limited space. We knew if we wasted more time grieving the challenges, students would lose their opportunity,” he said.

The special mop-up exam will be scheduled soon, and JAMB says it remains committed to transparency and fairness in admissions.

  • RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN JAMB SCORE AND SCREENING SCORE

Let this be clear — what determines your chances of being admitted is your screening score, not your JAMB score.

Yes, JAMB is important, but it only helps you qualify to apply. What truly matters for admission is your screening percentage.

The higher your screening score, the higher your chances of gaining admission.

WHAT’S THE ROLE OF JAMB SCORE THEN?

Your JAMB score is like a boundary — it shows whether you’re qualified to apply for a course or not.

    Example:
    • UNIOSUN general cut-off mark is 160
    • But for Medicine, Law, Islamic Studies, and Nursing, the cut-off mark is 200

    This means:
    • If you scored below 160, you can’t apply at all to UNIOSUN.
    • If you want to apply for Medicine, Law, Islamic Studies or Nursing, and you don’t have at least 200, you can’t register for the screening form.

The moment you pay and try to register, if you don’t meet the JAMB requirement, the system will automatically tell you:
“Not eligible because of low JAMB score.”

BUT AFTER THAT, IT’S ALL ABOUT SCREENING SCORE

Once you’ve registered successfully, your chance of getting admission depends on your screening score and how competitive your course is.

Someone with 200 in JAMB and 73% screening score has higher chances of being admitted than someone with 250 in JAMB but only 60% screening score.

It’s not just about JAMB — it’s about total performance.

    COURSE COMPETITION MATTERS TOO

Let me give you another example.

Someone might apply for Geology with a screening score of 50% and still get admitted.
But another person with 70% might apply for Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) and not get admitted.

Why? Because some courses are more competitive than others.
Each department has a quota — a limited number of students they can admit.

MEETING THE CUT-OFF DOESN’T GUARANTEE ADMISSION

Let’s say you applied for Pharmacology, and the cut-off mark for merit is 60%.

UNIOSUN wants to admit 300 students into that department.

    Now imagine:
    • 250 people scored 68% and above
    • 30 people scored 65%
    • 40 people scored 63%
    • 100 people scored between 60%–62%

You scored 60%, you met the merit cut-off, but guess what?

They might still not pick you — why?

    Because:
    • They’ll give about 70% preference to merit candidates
    • And 30% to indigenes and catchment area candidates

So even if you meet the cut-off, you might not get in if other people scored higher than you.

    BOTTOM LINE

    JAMB score helps you qualify.
Screening score determines your admission chances.
    Course competitiveness matters.
Meeting the cut-off doesn’t always mean admission.
At the end of the day, just pray for grace.

  • Beloved, let's bring the love of Christ back into the church. True agape love is unconditional and genuine. Show your love for others through your actions. (l Jh 3 v 18)

Heavenly father, help us to demonstrate the love of Christ to those around us, both in the world and in the church family. Keep us from speaking I'll of others and instead, let our words be encouraging, healing, and edifying. May we live in truth and love, in Jesus Christ name... Amen.
Good morning, have a favorable day.

When you see two young teenagers falling in love, it is your duty as an adult to talk to them. Most of the time they don't have sense of their own; you have to lend them yours.

Immediately after my WAEC, I went for computer training in one of these road side computer schools.

There's this girl, Charity, an O' Level graduate, who was also taking the training.

After each training we'd stay behind and learn on our own.

As Charity and I became familiarized with each other, we fell in love

The guy who was tutoring us, Uncle Joe, was in his final year in the university as at that time.

One fateful day, Uncle Joe called me and said something that I'd never forget.

This was what he said, word for word:

"Samuel! Being in a serious relationship with an opposite sex at this age is not a good idea. You have a great future, one mistake and you'd spend the rest of your life paying for it."

The computer training center had two branches. Uncle Joe went to the extent of writing a transfer letter for me to move to the other center. He said I wouldn't concentrate if I was seeing Charity everyday.

I bless the day I met Uncle Joe. People like him are not up to ten on this planet.

The following day I called Charity and told her I needed some space.

She tried to reach me for a while but all thanks to Uncle Joe, I was able to put her away.

Whenever we meet we'd just give each other a 'Hi, how far' greeting.

  • FEMALE CHILD IS ENTITLED TO INHERIT PROPERTY FROM HER FATHER/FAMILY: OUR PEOPLE SHOULD RESPECT SUPREME COURT'S DECISION----- Chris Nwagboso, PhD.

Lets read this landmark judgement and acquaint ourselves accordingly.

The case of Ukeje v. Ukeje is a landmark Nigerian Supreme Court decision that affirmed the inheritance rights of women, specifically challenging the Igbo customary law that traditionally denied them the right to inherit their deceased father's property. The court's ruling stated that such discriminatory customary laws are unconstitutional and void, as they violate the fundamental right to equality guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution.
Key Aspects of the Ukeje v. Ukeje Decision:
    Challenging Customary Law:
The case directly addressed the Igbo customary practice that excluded female children from inheriting their father's estate, even though they were legitimate blood relations.
    Reinforcing Constitutional Rights:
The Supreme Court affirmed that the right to inherit, regardless of gender, is a fundamental right protected by the Nigerian Constitution.
    Abolishing Discriminatory Practices:
The decision effectively abolished the Igbo customary practice of male primogeniture, which prioritized male heirs in inheritance.
    Significance for Women's Rights:
Ukeje v. Ukeje is considered a significant victory for women's rights in Nigeria, as it established their entitlement to inherit from their deceased fathers.
    Broader Implications:
The case extended beyond Igbo customary law, highlighting the importance of ensuring that customary practices do not violate constitutional rights and principles of equality and justice.
    Controversies and Related Issues:
    Firstborn Son's Right:
While the court affirmed the general right of female children to inherit, some argue that the firstborn son's right to inherit the main family house (obi) under Igbo custom may still be controversial.
    Impact on other customary practices:
The decision has broader implications for other customary practices that may discriminate against women or other groups, raising questions about their validity under the Nigerian legal system.
    Implementation and Enforcement:
The decision's impact on the ground depends on how effectively it is implemented and enforced by relevant authorities and communities.
In essence, Ukeje v. Ukeje is a landmark case that has significantly impacted Nigerian law and society by affirming the constitutional rights of women to inherit property, challenging traditional customary practices that were discriminatory, and promoting gender equality.

FEMALE CHILD IS ENTITLED TO INHERIT PROPERTY FROM HER FATHER/FAMILY: OUR PEOPLE SHOULD RESPECT SUPREME COURT'S DECISION----- Chris Nwagboso, PhD. Ukeje Decision: Challenging Customary Law: The case directly addressed the Igbo customary practice that excluded female children from inheriting their father's estate, even though they were legitimate blood relations.  Reinforcing Constitutional Rights: The Supreme Court affirmed that the right to inherit, regardless of gender, is a fundamental right protected by the Nigerian Constitution.  Abolishing Discriminatory Practices: The decision effectively abolished the Igbo customary practice of male primogeniture, which prioritized male heirs in inheritance.  Significance for Women's Rights: Ukeje v. Ukeje is considered a significant victory for women's rights in Nigeria, as it established their entitlement to inherit from their deceased fathers.  Broader Implications: The case extended beyond Igbo customary law, highlighting the importance of ensuring that customary practices do not violate constitutional rights and principles of equality and justice.  Controversies and Related Issues: Firstborn Son's Right: While the court affirmed the general right of female children to inherit, some argue that the firstborn son's right to inherit the main family house (obi) under Igbo custom may still be controversial.  Impact on other customary practices: The decision has broader implications for other customary practices that may discriminate against women or other groups, raising questions about their validity under the Nigerian legal system.  Implementation and Enforcement: The decision's impact on the ground depends on how effectively it is implemented and enforced by relevant authorities and communities.  In essence, Ukeje v. *WAEC, NECO TO ADOPT CBT FOR EXAMINATION NEXT YEAR*

The Federal Government has directed the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) to adopt full Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for all their examinations by 2026.

The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, disclosed this during the monitoring of the ongoing exams alongside JAMB officials, in Bwari on Monday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that more than 2 million candidates registered for the ongoing examination in more than 800 centres across the country.

Alausa revealed that both the WAEC and NECO would start administering their objective papers via CBT effective this November.

According to him, subsequently adopting the CBT for the essay and objective components would commenced fully by May/June 2026.

“We are going to get WAEC and NECO to also start their objective exam on CBT

“By 2026 exams which will come up in May/June, both the objectives and the essay will be fully on CBT. That is how we can eliminate exam malpractices.”

Earlier, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, while speaking on the early schedule of the exams, clarified that the board’s UTME exams had always begun at 8:00 a.m.

Oloyede said that candidates were only expected to be on ground by 6:30 a.m., to enable them get accredited before the exams.

He dismissed complaints about early arrival times, noting that it was necessary to screen candidates before exams begin.

“We have always started our exams at 8 o’clock. The first session is 8 o’clock, second session 10:30, third session, 1 p.m, and fourth session 3:30p.m.

Oloyede also debunked claims of candidates being posted to centres they did not choose, stating that investigations showed no such cases happened.

He confirmed that more than 1.6 million out of 2.03 million registered candidates had completed their exams, with about 50,000 remaining.

The registrar further revealed that more than 40 candidates had been arrested for malpractice, including impersonation and attempting to smuggle out exam questions with hidden cameras.

He added that of the registered candidates, more than 41,000 were underage. (NAN)

*UPDATE*🔥 *WAEC, NECO TO ADOPT CBT FOR EXAMINATION NEXT YEAR* The Federal Government has directed the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) to adopt full Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for all their examinations by 2026. ”If JAMB can successfully conduct CBT exams for more than 2.2 million candidates, WAEC and NECO can do the same. “We are going to get WAEC and NECO to also start their objective exam on CBT “By 2026 exams which will come up in May/June, both the objectives and the essay will be fully on CBT. • *I INTERVIEWED A PERSON WHO HATED ME*

Six years ago a guy looked at me face to face, and boldly told me; "I don't like you!"

I immediately fired a response, I asked him that day; "Thank you for the honest feedback, but those that you like, how has it made their life better? How does your liking people pay their bills or take a bank loan? My brother keep your like, I need God's like And that's what guarantees my future.

ONE day I joined a CEO friend of mine in an interview Panel to recruit some new staff, it was a long session.
As we returned from a coffee break to continue the hectic interview session, here was this same guy walked in with his grey jacket and CV coming for the interview.

Our eyes kissed by fluke, we immediately recognised each other; "the world is indeed spherical", I soliloquized.

He felt very uncomfortable through out the interview, one could clearly see the volcanic eruption ongoing in his whole nervous system, he even mistook his date of birth for his last date of employment.

It wasn't yet my turn to ask him questions so I allowed everyone to take their turns with him and deliberately opted to interview him last.

When it got to my turn, the first thing I said was, "I LIKE YOU so much, you look to me like a brilliant and intelligent person, but it seems you are not doing well now because something bothers you, true?"

"That's very correct Sir!" He responded.

"Ok look at me straight in the eye, I was never offended that day, it is very normal that sometimes as humans you just don't like certain people, but I wasn't bothered either, because whether you liked me or not, it was inconsequential to my life and my success path - as you can see, fate has brought you to my lair"

I stood up and beckoned him to come and embrace me, everyone on the panel at this point were at sea - wondering if we had expeditiously recast an interview session to a Hollywood movie scene.

He hugged me so long and deeply that I felt it. Then I told him, "now get your confidence back bro and answer the questions like a Pro Shark that you are, we all burst into laughter, everyone suddenly liked him and the room became livelier - the interview became more like a discussion, well to cut the long story short, he got the job!

    Lessons:

    1. Be careful how you treat people when they appear to be in their vulnerable state, your next level may be hanging in their balance; somewhere in the future.

    2. If you dislike someone, it is not their fault, it is YOUR FAULT, work on yourself to find good in people and reinvent your Mind to see everyone as likeable.

    3. Don't spew hatred vocally just because it came into your heart, you may say it to someone who will keep it forever and use it against you when you find yourself in your own low moments and need them.

    4. Learn to forgive, overlook people's dislike and hatred for you, dont punish people just because you have the position and privilege to do so, bless them rather - that's how you court God's blessings, favour and protection.

    5. Share this post, someone needs it to heal from their past burdens of unforgiveness they have been carrying which has been hindering their promotions and inhibiting God's blessings flowing their way!

  • *ANOTHER EVIL BUSINESS*

Hmmmmmmmmmm, a very close friend of mine has a daughter of 21 who is schooling in one of the universities in the east. She came around for holiday and then fell sick last Thursday and was taken to the hospital for proper medical care. During the process of check up, her mum noticed a scar under her pelvic and she got worried, cos according to her, her daughter has never had any surgery not even minor or major. So, she was wondering where the scar came from and the cause.

Long story cut short. After much interrogation and the girl's refusal to speak up, she called me to come over. On getting there, I met her in real tears and I asked what the problem was and she asked her daughter to open her tummy and show me what she saw. I saw it and then asked questions and she said her daughter has refused to tell her how she got that scar.

I immediately took the girl outside and interrogated her and she opened up to me that a friend of hers introduced her to a business in school last year, that she did it and was paid 200k. And she said they have Drs they meet when they are ovulating to buy their eggs. So, what they do is, they have to open them up, take the eggs and then cover them up again. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. As I type this, I'm still in shock. I've not recovered since Saturday. I was just able to tell her mum yesterday. I had to bring her home on Saturday night to sleep over. Then yesterday I took her back to inform her mum. My friend has not been herself till now. We don't know how to inform her dad cos the whole blame will be on her as she's the one with them in Nigeria. Their dad works in Ghana.

I thought to share for information sake and to be observant with our female children, because I heard it also happen in secondary school. I just hope vital organ in this girl has not been harvested. Besides do they have to open one up to collect eggs am not sure. Wao! This is indeed scary, a lot is happening out there in our Society. Any Teenager not well groomed can easily be negatively influenced.

*Pls when we call for Teenagers Conference let's do well to bring our teenagers, a lot are perishing for lack of knowledge.* Also Parents have to go the extra-mile in instilling the fear of God in our Children.

-For record purpose, one doesn't need to be opened up for eggs to be collected. People do IVF and are never cut open for eggs to be collected.

    Lord have Mercy

  • BEYOND RELIGION: EMBRACING THE EASY YOKE OF JESUS CHRIST

The blood of Jesus Christ is pure, sinless, spotless, precious, and perfect (1 Peter 1:19).
It cleanses from sin, wipes away iniquities, and transforms sinners into saints (Hebrews 9:14, 1 John 1:7).
This blood surrenders its identities to the saint, and these identities become the saint's character (2 Peter 1:4).

Salvation, also known as to be born again is not merely reciting the sinner's prayer at the point of altar call or following rules; it's a conviction by the Holy Spirit that one is a sinner condemned to eternal doom (John 16:8-11). It's a response to this conviction by surrendering one's life to Jesus Christ and trusting in His finished work on the cross (Romans 3:24-25, Ephesians 2:8-9).
Believers experience a transformed life, living by faith and confidence in the forgiveness of their sins (2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 5:1).

As saints, believers are clothed with the righteousness and purity of Jesus Christ's blood (Revelation 7:14, 1 John 1:7). Though still prone to mistakes and errors due to the flesh, the blood of redemption continually cleanses, wipes and purifies them (1 John 2:1-2, 1 John 1:9).

In contrast to religion, which entangles, enslaves and keeps in legalism and bondage, Jesus' yoke is easy, and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). Entrance into the Redeemer's kingdom is based on faith in His finished work, not on works or adherence to man-made rules (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:28).

Redemption justifies, sanctifies, acquits, translates from kingdom of doom and darkness into kingdom of light, frees believers from legalism ( sets of rigid religious rules, man made traditions, if you don't do this you won't get that, this qualifies you to get that), bringing them into freedom ( cheerfulness, willingness, freewill) service, agape love, and a personal (father-child) relationship with their Redeemer (Galatians 5:1, Romans 8:15). The Redeemer now guides, supports, and helps them effortlessly navigate life's challenges (Psalm 23:4, Galatians 2:20; Hebrews 13:5-6). *Even when believers sin and lose fellowship with God, their relationship remains intact,* and they can return to Him through confession and repentance (1 John 1:9, Psalm 51:1-12).

You received God's beloved Son, Jesus Christ the greatest gift life has to offer without merit or expectation. He willingly, happily and cheerfully sacrificed Himself for our redemption and salvation. John 10:17,18. John 15:13;1 John 3:16.
He has shown us an example that we may willingly, happily and cheerfully serve Him. 2 Corinthians 9:6,7
Don't let your mind be held captive by transactional(based on trading, give this before you get that, it most cost you something) theories, hypotheses or legalistic ideologies that fuel a relentless pursuit of self-righteousness(attempts to please or appease God through human efforts, gifts and donations).
Remember and always have in mind: God has graciously given us everything we need for life and godliness, including His only begotten Son (John 3:16, 2 Peter 1:3).
