Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

MESSAGE
What we believe matters a great deal to the life we live. Our beliefs set the pace for our destinies. Many times, the wrong experiences in people's lives are direct result of their wrong beliefs.
In the realm of the spirit, faith is a spiritual doorway that attracts spirits and certain happenings in our lives whether good or bad.
So we must watch what we believe, because faith can be channeled in both ways; to connect the negatives or the positive.
In today's text, the Apostle John warned that we should not believe every spirit; because who or what we believe determines who or what we submit our lives to.
The Apostle gave this warning because, there were false teachers and deceitful workers operating by the spirit of the Antichrist in those days as we have today.
And we need this saintly warning more today than the believers of his time, because we are in the last days of the very last days. And we can see the spurious effects of wrong beliefs all around us.
Our beliefs control our submission and our submission determines our destinies.
The greatest challenge of all times has been the challenge of wrong beliefs. Religion has caused more damage to our societies than we can possibly imagine or think of. And it is not unconnected with the fact that people are sometimes deceived to believe in errors instead of the truth.
Our only sure safeguard against wrong beliefs is to stay in the truth. The word of God (that manifested in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ) is the truth!
Beloved, it is not too late to set your beliefs straight in line with the word of God, especially as the year is just beginning. Mind what you believe and who you submit your life to. Ensure that your heart and soul is filled with the sound Word of God at all times.

1. Stay in the word of God to stay safe always.
2. Balance everything you hear with the teachings of the Bible.
