Before you cheat, leave, or build a new family from scratch, take a hard look at what you’re leaving behind.
Your children aren’t blind. They notice when you're suddenly too busy. They hear the excuses. They feel the shift in your attention. And they’re hurting more than they’ll ever say out loud.
You might think they’re “resilient” or that “kids adapt.” Maybe you tell yourself they’ll be fine. But
here’s the truth:
They’re confused. They’re hurt. And they’re wondering why your new life seems to matter more than they do.
They see the family outings with your new partner. They see the smiles and the affection you give to someone else’s children. And they wonder why not me.
They shouldn’t have to compete for your love. They shouldn’t have to wonder where they stand in your life.
Don’t make your child feel like a leftover from your past. You may be moving on, but they’re still standing in the wreckage.
