• LESSON FROM A WOMAN
When a woman wants to teach you a lesson, even satan sits down to take notes.

My neighbour was a big drunk. His wife used to pick him up in bars and in trenches. Her family friends advised her to leave him but she was hopeful that she'll find a solution one day.

One Saturday, she went to pick him again, he was completely drunk. Instead of taking him home, she headed straight to the mortuary. She negotiated with the mortuary attendants to make him lie with the corpses so that when he wakes up, they can teach him a lesson or two. She then went back home.

When he woke up, he started screaming when he found himself sleeping in the middle of dead bodies. He started screaming and calling for help pleading that he's not dead. The mortuary attendants came laughing and told him that they are used to corpses being brought to the morgue and start practicing witchcraft. They told him to lie down and that he was dead and whatever he was seeing was not in real life but in the other end of living dead.

He continued screaming and the morgue attendants came with an axe and hammer and told him that stubborn corpses are beaten and hacked until they become cooperative. He was told to lie and wait for his postmortem later that day since his cause of death hadn't been established.

He stayed there frightened in the middle of corpses the whole of that day and Sunday night. On Monday morning they released him and told him to go home, say bye bye to his family and then come back to the morgue for preservation since he was now a mere spirit.

He ran home on foot, straight to the mirror to check if he was seeing himself. His wife pretended not to see him which made him even more worried. He went to the bathroom took a shower, dressed up and carried a Bible. That's when his wife told him that it was a Monday morning and not Sunday.

Several months later he's yet to reveal what happened to him; and where he was the two nights he wasn't at home. He stopped taking alcohol completely, not even Sodas, just Milk and Water. He goes to Church religiously now

  • You buy lipstick to paint your lips —beautiful, bold, bright

But your breath? "Odogwu" himself runs for cover.
One whisper about “the smell,” and shame burns hotter than pepper soup.

Your confidence crumbles like garri in hot water.

    You’re not dirty.
Your gut’s just screaming for help.

    You’ve tried it all—

    —Mouthwash marathon
    —Gum-chewing championships
    —Brushing till your gums bleeds
    —Bakin soda experiment
—You sip fruit juice praying for "juicy vibes"

But that "dead rat + rotten eggs" aura clings like Lagos traffic.
Flies faint at your breath's anointing
Monica side-eyes anytime you speak. Embarrassment win you everyday.

Yet, the smell keeps challenging the air around everyone, the more you do the more it worsens.

    Here’s the truth, Obianuju:

That stench? It’s a gut riot. Too many rebel bacteria throwing a gas party in your belly—hydrogen sulfide fests, methane explosions. Their toxic vibes ride your bloodstream straight to your breath. Oh girl, you need help!

Fix the gut, end the odor war:

    - Starve the bacteria by cutting off sugar, bread and refined carbs because they feed bad bacteria causing more gut flora imbalances and inflammation.

    - Rebuild gut Flora with probiotics from sauckeraut, apple cider vinegar (1tbsp in warm water daily) and also prebiotics from leafy greens

    - Fix the plumbing with Intermittent fasting by giving your gut a rest to reduce fermentation and gas buildup. Don't forget to hydrate by sipping warm lemon water or ginger tea to keep things moving. Constipation = more bacterial toxins.

    - Heal your gut Lining with bone broth: Collagen and glutamine repair leaky gut.
Zinc carnosine of 50 mg daily to seal the gut lining and reduce inflammation.

    - Avoid triggers by ditching seed oils because Inflammation from canola, soybean, and sunflower oil e.t.c can worsen dysbiosis. For alcohol, just cancel it; because it nukes good bacteria and irritates the gut.

Gut healing takes time, There's no overnight magic —Your gut will heal and your breath will bow down eventually as you stick.

Obianuju, silence the stink and Own your aura. You are too beautiful to be caught Unfresh!

  • Frankly speaking, it is pretty tough for anyone in the showbiz/media industry to manage a marriage. This is so for a couple of reasons, and I will highlight the ones I am quite familiar with:

    1.
The job takes all of your mental, physical, and emotional energy. By the time you get home (if you can go home), there is almost nothing left of you but a strong desire for some silence and a lot of rest. For people in the talking side of the media industry, you have talked all day, and all you have left is a desire for some quiet.

The emotional and mental fatigue that happens to you repeatedly is why many in the industry are given to substance/alcohol abuse.

    2.
The job does not reward you as much as it tasks you. So, for all of your man hours, you still struggle financially, and this has a great tendency of leading to frustration in the home.

If you are not emotionally available and you still do not have money, problems go boku oh!

    3.
Your job exposes you to so much of the opposite gender. From spending many hours with co-workers of the opposite sex, to the long list of admirers who notice you because of your job, distrust easily creeps into your marriage, and sadly, we undermine the implications that a little distrust can have.

The tendency that the unmarried ones will marry wrong is another risk entirely. Where you have a vast population of admirers to pick from, the tendency that you marry wrong is tripled.

    __________________

The three points above may seem very simple, but they are the most dominant reasons many media industry people are "not good at marriage," as Frank Edoho opined.

The ones who can stay responsible and involved at home often have to bend over backwards, ensuring against all odds that they remain human, despite the many challenges that the job throws at them.

There is a lot to unpack in this industry, but only the people directly affected can tell their stories.

  • BY AGE 40 YOU SHOULD BE SMART ENOUGH TO REALIZE THIS:

    1. Someone makes 10x more than you do in a 9-5 job because they have more "leverage" with their work.

    2. Distraction is the greatest killer of success. It stunts and destroys your brain.

    3. You shouldn't take advice from people who are not where you want to be in life.

    4. No one is coming to save your problems. Your life's 100% your responsibility.

    5. You don't need 100 self-help books, all you need is action and self discipline.

    6. Unless you went to college to learn a specific skill (ie. doctor, engineer, lawyer), you can make more money in the next 90 days just learning sales.

    7. No one cares about you. So stop being shy, go out and create your chances.

    8. If you find someone smarter than you, work with them, don't compete.

    9. Smoking has 0 benefit in your life. This habit will only slow your thinking and lower your focus.

    10. Comfort is the worst addiction and cheap ticket to depression.

    11. Don't tell people more than they need to know, respect your privacy.

    12. Avoid alcohol at all cost. Nothing worse than losing your senses and acting a fool.

    13. Keep your standards high and don't settle for something because it's available.

    14. The family you create is more important than the family you come from.

    15. Train yourself to take nothing personally to save yourself from 99.99% of mental problems.

    16. If you don't separate yourself from distractions, your distractions, will separate you from your GOALS.

*Stay positive and be the real you*

  • WERE YOU EVER MINE?

She is getting discharged today. At this point, she's prepared for anything. Her heart is so fragile, so anything could affect both her and the baby. Rorisang is not aiming to back down, but what she did yesterday proves that she's plotting something. She's just waiting for the perfect time to spill the beans to Nhlakanipho. This is not Rori she grew up with. Rorisang is not a heartless person. She's not bitter. What changed?

Now that Kele realizes. She sees that she's behind this. She changed her best friend into this person. Rori has been hurt. She watched Rori getting hurt again and again, but she never changed. Now she stabbed her in the back, she has suddenly changed into this person who believes in revenge.

Kele quickly wipes the tears she just shed, but others follow, flooding her face. She goes down her memory lane, recalling how good they were. They were basically sisters. Even though Rori wasn't drinking alcohol like she did, Rori always showed up at her parties. Whenever she was in need of something, Rori was there since her family was financially stable. They talked about everything, shared everything, laughing together, crying together and just… doing everything together.

She ruined their perfect friendship. Rorisang was willing to fix their friendship, but she became bitter and spat out hurtful words. The obsession or whatever she may call that she has over Nhla controlled her. She wasn't like this. Philani must be turning in his grave, disappointed in her.

“Kele, what's wrong?” Sukoluhle asks, getting in the ward. Nkele wipes her face, sighing. “Why are you crying? Did Bhut'Nhla do something to you?”

“No. I… I guess he isn't coming to pick me up again.” Nhlakanipho didn't believe what Rori said yesterday, and the look he gave her was evident enough that he was going to dig in deeper.

“No, I came with him, actually. He's on a call, so I walked in first. Will you just tell me what's going on with you? What made you cry?”

Kele shrugs, “Just life. This isn't how I pictured myself back in the years. I've suddenly become a woman I don't know. Mnqobi wouldn't even be proud of the mother I am.”

Nhlakanipho walks in just as Sukoluhle tries to crack what she just said. “Everything set?” he asks, taking the mini bag he brought when Kele got admitted. “I've signed the discharging forms, so singahamba manje.”

They get home after passing by Chicken Licken. Nhla is just frowning, watching every step Nkele is taking. “Are you okay?” he finally asks after a long drive from the hospital.

“Yes, I'm just tired,” Kele mutters, settling down on the couch. Her heart breaks as Nhla doesn't even try to question her deeper. He says he's going back to work and grabs his car keys, walking out.

“I only have thirty minutes to spend before my break ends. Will you mind elaborating what you meant at the hospital?” Sukoluhle curiously asks.

Kele takes out a piece of meat, taking a bite. “It's about Rori.” Sukoluhle rolls her eyes, grabbing one of the fries. “I hurt her, Suko. I hurt her knowing how much she struggles to deal with pain. She was once my best friend, and I betrayed her when she least expected it. I knew how much she loved Nhla. Well, I knew how much they loved each other. I didn't only ruin their relationship, but I also ruined our beautiful friendship.”

“What do you mean, Kele? This wasn't your choice. You didn't choose to be here. Our tradition forced you to be here. It's not like you had a choice.”

“I had a choice, Suko. I should've refused to get married to Nhlakanipho. Rori's disappearance should've been a wake-up call that she didn't like what she overheard between Philani and Nhlakanipho. She was hurt. Finding out that your man is supposed to marry your best friend is painful. I should've put myself in her shoes. I would've been hurt if she were to marry Philani. I hurt her, Suko. The least I should've done was not to fall and stay away when she got back. That's what I agreed on with Nhla.”

She breaks down, putting away the meat. Her heart breaks even more when she thinks of what Rori did yesterday. Even after betraying her like that, she still protected her name. She protected her marriage. That's the Rorisang Nkele knows. She's not heartless.

“Kele,” Sukoluhle whispers, dropping next to her. “I'm so sorry that you feel this way. We sometimes can't control our feelings, Nkele. You love him.”

“I shouldn't have, Suko. I promised not to. I also feel like I betrayed Philani. This is not how it should have turned. I feel like… I don't know… but what I know is that I broke her. I broke another woman who was my best friend, my sister.”

“I'm sorry, Kele.” She has nothing to say other than brushing Kele's back.

Before I know it, his cologne fills my office. I put on my straight face, taking my handbag and car keys. Linda asked to meet for lunch after receiving the text of withdrawing the plan yesterday. I just want peace. The same peace I've had these past three years before bumping into this one and his wife.

“Heading out?” His bold voice fills the office. I steal a quick glance at him and nod. He's wearing grey suit with a white t-shirt. He stands tall near the door.

“If this is not about Sinenhlanhla or your wife's anniversary dress. You better leave, I've got things to do.”

He walks further in, not taking a seat, but walks towards me. “Nhlakanipho, I'm serious. I don't want you near me, honestly.”

“Begithi ngizoxolisa nje, Nana wami.” Is that tone supposed to soften me? This man is full of himself. “Lalela, I know what I said hurt you, Nana. I just… I don't think when I'm angry. It just slipped out, I promise.”

“It slipped out, you say? Okay, I understand, so can you leave now?” He blinks twice, biting his lip. “That's what you want akere Nhlakanipho? For me to understand what you're trying to justify yourself with and welcome you back in my arms. I've had enough of you. Do you hear me? Please focus on your wife and baby, and leave me alone.”

He tries to touch me, I step back, blocking him with my hand. “Don't you dare, okay? Don't you even try. I'm done with you and your confused self. Let me be with my man, and focus on your marriage.”

“I love you, not her, Rorisang. How many times should I keep saying that?”

“Don't say that anymore. I heard it enough, wa nkutlwa akere? Unlove me and learn to love your wife!” I unintentionally raise my voice. Is he clenching jaws?

“Watch your tone, Rorisang,” he warns, his eyes darkening. Did I say something wrong, perhaps? Nhlakanipho thinks he owns me. That's his problem.

“Or what? Huh? What are you going to do? Hit me!?” I step towards him, giving him the stern look he's giving me.

    “Rorisang.”

“Keng, Nhlakanipho? I'm not Nkeletseng, nna. I won't bow to you like…” his cold hand grabs my neck, not so aggressively, but strongly. “Wh-what are you…”

He leans over, kissing me. I let go of my handbag and keys, trying to push him away. He pulls away from the kiss and pushes me against the wall. “What's wrong with you? Why are you forcing your way into my life? I don't love you. Can you get that, at least?”

“You're right. You don't love me, you're in love with me.” Oh, God! This man is just so full of himself. He thinks everything happens according to him.

“Fvck you! Do you hear me? Fvck you and fvck off from me!” I try to push him again, his hand grabbing both of my hands, pinning them against the wall, on top of my head.

“Lower your tone, or else I'll fvck you so hard, Rorisang. I'll fvck you so hard that you'll lose your senses, uyangizwa?” he says firmly, his bold voice echoing in the office.

“In your dreams!” We share a tight contact, our breathes getting heavier. Someone clears their throat.

“Um… am I disturbing?” I know that voice! Nhlakanipho doesn't bother himself to let go. He's keeping his gaze on me. I pull all my strength together and push him away.

“Leave before I call the police on you.”

Linda swipes glances between us before sitting on the couch in my office. “Do you hatə me that much?” Nhla asks. Listen to this man! Hatə? I wish I did. Only if he knew how much he made my heart beat.

“Leave.” I order him. He glances at Linda and walks out without greeting her. I click my tongue, fix myself and pick up my things from the floor. “I thought we were meeting at the restaurant?”

Linda sighs, “You were taking too long, so I ordered and drove here. Your company is so classy, I should've known.”

“Well, what can I say? I'm a designer, after all.”

“Fashion designer, not interior designer. Anywho, what did I just see? Are you having lovers quarrel?” She asks. I've always known her as a gossiper, so I'm not surprised.

“Lovers? We're not lovers nna le Nhlakanipho. In fact, he's right. I hatə him. Watseba Linda, I've had enough of that man.” I fan myself with both my hands.

“Awww, really? The neck grab, hurried kiss, the hands lock? That's chemistry. I saw chemistry and felt it. You're meant to be.” I roll my eyes. Kante, how much did she see? She has been standing on the door all this while?

“Chemistry? What do you know about chemistry wena because you did arts in school, not science? We're not meant to be ya nex. This is just toxic, man. Nhla is toxic.”

Ma Dlamini made me realize that my mental health matters. My emotional state matters more than the love I have for Nhlakanipho. I'm just going to try and just stay away from his toxic self.

“Toxic? He's obsessed with you! Yazin, I also have a plan. A better plan to deal with this. You're not going to let go of those people just like that, Rori. We're sticking to the plan.”

“No, Linda. I don't believe in revenge. I don't even know why I even bothered myself. The more I try to hurt people, the more I'm hurting myself. That's not working for me. Let's drop this. I don't even know why you're so invested because I was using you a pawn.”

She gets up from the couch, heaving a sigh. “Because I deserve it. Rori, we made you go through a lot. I realized that you never broke anyone's heart— except for having a big mouth and spitting hurtful words, but actually a good person. People take advantage of that, including Nhla, and I'm going to help you. I am helping you because I believe that you should also make them feel what they made you feel.”

I shake my head in disapproval. I don't want to get hurt anymore. Focusing on Sinenhlanhla and Lukhanyo is what I'm planning to do. “Lalela, I have a good plan.”— Linda.

    “Linda…”

“A perfect one.” She smirks, staring at me. “Nhla will growl back to you and be yours.”

    “I don't want him. I have Lukhanyo.”

“Mxm, we both know you've always been Nhlakanipho’s Dollface, his only Nana. That's where you belong. You're his
WERE YOU EVER MINE? ⛱️ She is getting discharged today. Did Bhut'Nhla do something to you?” “No. What made you cry?” Kele shrugs, “Just life. This isn't how I pictured myself back in the years. I've suddenly become a woman I don't know. Mnqobi wouldn't even be proud of the mother I am.” Nhlakanipho walks in just as Sukoluhle tries to crack what she just said. “Everything set?” he asks, taking the mini bag he brought when Kele got admitted. “I've signed the discharging forms, so singahamba manje.” — They get home after passing by Chicken Licken. I didn't only ruin their relationship, but I also ruined our beautiful friendship.” “What do you mean, Kele? This wasn't your choice. You didn't choose to be here. Our tradition forced you to be here. It's not like you had a choice.” “I had a choice, Suko. That's what I agreed on with Nhla.” She breaks down, putting away the meat. You love him.” “I shouldn't have, Suko. I promised not to. I also feel like I betrayed Philani. This is not how it should have turned. I feel like… I don't know… but what I know is that I broke her. I broke another woman who was my best friend, my sister.” “I'm sorry, Kele.” She has nothing to say other than brushing Kele's back. - - - RORISANG Before I know it, his cologne fills my office. You better leave, I've got things to do.” He walks further in, not taking a seat, but walks towards me. “Nhlakanipho, I'm serious. I don't want you near me, honestly.” “Begithi ngizoxolisa nje, Nana wami.” Is that tone supposed to soften me? This man is full of himself. “Lalela, I know what I said hurt you, Nana. I just… I don't think when I'm angry. It just slipped out, I promise.” “It slipped out, you say? • You'll long for this.
You’ll ache for her at 3 a.m., waking from a nightmare, reaching for her—but she’s not there.
You’ll ache for the absence of those unexpected “I love you” texts that used to light up your day.
You’ll ache for her when your day has gone south, and there’s no one who listens the way she did—fully, patiently, and with love.
You’ll ache when you see her laughing with friends, knowing you’re no longer the reason behind her smile.
You’ll ache on cold nights, with only tangled sheets and a glowing phone screen to keep you company.
You’ll ache to cry in her arms again—but she’ll walk right past you, eyes forward, heart no longer yours.
You’ll ache watching her dance, remembering all the times she asked you to join her—and you didn’t.
You’ll ache when you realize how often you still talk about her, while she no longer speaks your name.
You’ll ache when even alcohol can’t blur the image of her smiling in the moonlight.
You’ll ache when your messages go unread, your calls unanswered.
You’ll ache when you understand—too late—that no one ever cared for you the way she did.
You’ll reach for her hand, but it won’t be there.
You’ll miss the goofy selfies, the random videos, the sweet “just thinking about you” moments.
You’ll ache when it’s late, and you’re lying alone, with no one to talk to.
You’ll ache for her little laugh—the one that used to brighten your darkest hours.
    You’ll ache for everything.
And by the time you realize what you had—and what you lost—it’ll be too late.
She’ll be in someone else’s arms, giving them the love she once gave you.
She’ll be sharing laughs, secrets, memories… building a life you once had the chance to build with her.
That’s when it will hit you the hardest:
That extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime woman with the heart of gold?
    She’s no longer yours.
So cherish her while you still can—because life doesn’t often give you a second chance with a good woman.

Vision gives one a reason to stay committed. When you have a vision of the kind of marriage you want to have and the kind of spouse you are working to become, you stay true even when it gets tough

    2. FEAR
When you value what you have with your spouse and all you two have built and invested in all these years, you will fear doing something that might destroy it

    3. LOVE
When you love your spouse, you will be careful not to do an anything to hurt your spouse, but also, your greatest desire will be to enjoy special moments with no other but your spouse

    4. HUMILITY
Humility will remind you not to be too confident in yourself that you play with temptation. Humility will also allow you to be receptive to warnings when your spouse cautions you about someone you are getting close to

    5. FREQUENT WARM COMMUNICATION
    When you both take time to have silly, deep, serious, difficult and naughty conversations with each other, be it face to face, online, on phone calls or video calls even when you are in a long distance marriage;

it will make faithulness easier to practice. The danger is when you get used to communicating frequently with another. Frequent communication keeps you both connected. Emotional faithfulness leads to sexual faithfulness

    6. VALUES
Your values determine your lifestyle and this determines what you give time to, who you give time to, the environments you take yourself to and what consumes your thoughts. If you don't have nurtured values as an individual, you will easily fall

    7. RIGHT COMPANY
When you surround yourself with friends who encourage and celebrate your faithfulness and who are also faithful to their spouses, you will challenge each other to focus on your marriage. Check your circle, are you surrounded by cheats?

    8. A HEALTHY CONSCIENCE
Don't numb your conscience, your conscience is what flags you when you are doing wrong. It is your link to God to remind you of your actions and consequences. If you numb your conscience, you will do wrong with no remorse

    9. GOOD TREATMENT AT HOME
When you both treat each other well at home, it is so easy to be faithful. You are happy at home, why mess it? When the home is full of fights, arguments, coldness and drama; it gives temptations power

    10. TRANSPARENCY
Telling your spouse who you are with and where you are without being asked will make you accountable and prevent you from slipping. Affairs thrive in secrecy

    11. OBJECTIVITY
When you start to see yourself enjoying another person's company not your spouse and be rational about it, you will realize it is not worth it. So you will have a wonderful time with this new person, and then what? Your future is still with your spouse, and that temporary good time is not worth risking it all for

    12. SOBERNESS
Alcohol tends to make many married people misbehave, sometimes to the point they don't remember their bad behaviour. When you remain sober you will make better judgements

    13. PURITY OF MIND
When you are mindful of what you feed your mind, you will guard your ways. Sex starts in the mind

    14. BOUNDARIES
When you make it clear to colleagues, friends and even online contacts that you have boundaries because you respect your marriage, others will respect your marriage too

    15. SELF-CONTROL
When you have the strength to stop yourself when you notice you are getting too attached to another person or getting turned on by them; you will take yourself out of danger

    16. GREAT SEX AT HOME
When you are being made love to well at home, why go anywhere else? A sexually satisfied spouse tends to remain faithful
