  • Klopp demands three big signings before agreeing Real Madrid deal

Jurgen Klopp will ask for guarantees over three big signings before agreeing to manage Real Madrid amid strong reports Carlo Ancelotti will be sacked later this month.

Real Madrid were humbled in the Champions League, bowing out to Arsenal via an eye-opening 5-1 aggregate scoreline. Los Blancos have fared little better on the domestic scene either, with the club trailing bitter rivals Barcelona by four points in LaLiga.

Real Madrid have advanced to the final of the Copa del Rey, though the imposing figure of Barcelona – who’ve beaten Real Madrid by an aggregate scoreline of 9-2 in their two matches this season – awaits.

And according to Sky Sports, the Copa del Rey final will be the final stand for manager Carlo Ancelotti who’ll be relieved of his duties shortly after.
Ancelotti isn’t expected to be out of work for long, with the Brazilian national team job already lined up. Back at the Bernabeu, the expectation was Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen would replace Ancelotti when the time came.

However, reports from UOL and then Sport claimed Real Madrid are pivoting to Jurgen Klopp.

The legendary former Liverpool boss is currently unhappy in his role as Head of Global Soccer with Red Bull and weighing up a return to management.

Klopp would reportedly only return to the stresses and strains of management for two jobs – Brazil or Real Madrid.

And with Sport stating Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is cooling on Alonso, along with Klopp reportedly being ‘willing’ to negotiate, the 57-year-old could be back in the dugout at the Bernabeu before the season is out.

Now, a fresh update from Defensa Central has shed new light on Klopp to Real Madrid.

They state Klopp’s name is ‘gaining momentum’ in the Spanish capital, though ‘he would come with a series of conditions that would need to be accepted.’

The report then claimed the conditions relate entirely to transfers and regard Real Madrid’s leaky defence specifically.

Defensa Central continued: ‘He would ask Florentino Perez for the arrival of a right-back, who will be [Trent] Alexander-Arnold, a left-back, and a centre-back.’

Demanding a triple coup will NOT be a deal-breaker for Real Madrid and his requests are said to ‘align with what the sports management proposes’ anyway.
    What about Xabi Alonso?
It was only a few weeks ago that Alonso – who starred for Real Madrid during his playing days between 2009-14 – looked a shoo-in to replace Ancelotti.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano declared: “The top target remains absolutely only Xabi Alonso. For Real Madrid it is going to be Xabi Alonso when they part ways with Ancelotti.”

Alonso is by no means out of the equation, though a handful of factors do appear to be working against the Spaniard.

Sport claimed the scale of Real Madrid’s implosion this season is prompting Perez to seek a more experienced campaigner.

Alonso is widely regarded as one of the best young managers in world football, but he’s exactly that: young.

Klopp, meanwhile, has overseen well over 1,000 games in senior management and proved at Liverpool he can lift the game’s biggest honours.

His record in the Champions League – three finals with Liverpool and one with Borussia Dortmund – is also stellar.

Furthermore, BILD state Leverkusen will demand a substantial payment of around €10m before letting Alonso leave. Alonso is under contract with Leverkusen until 2026.

  • Ful'ani Terror and the Sultan's Silence: Hausa people never expect something good from you

Yesterday, the Sultan of Sokoto called those who speak out against the unending violence of Fulani bandits “social media terrorists.” Let that sink in.

We, the Hausa people, are being slaug'htered. And instead of condemning the killers, the Sultan attacks those demanding justice. This is not new — your silence has always been loud. And your hatred for the Hausa people is not recent either. History remembers.

In 1804, Ful'ani under danfodiyo attacked and k'illed the Muslim ruler of Kano Muhammadu Alwali. In 1805, they attacked the Emir of Zaria during prayer. All the Hausa emirs then were Muslims — still, they were slain or attacked. That legacy of betrayal continues today.

You did not condemn the Ful'ani who:

Burned a bus filled with 42 Hausa travelers in Sabon Birni.

Kidnapped 279 Hausa schoolgirls in Jangebe, Zamfara (2021).

Abducted over 300 Hausa Muslim students in Kankara (Dec 2020).

Kidnapped nearly 100 schoolchildren in Kuriga, Kaduna (March 2024).

Abducted 80 girls from Yauri and sold them as slaves.

Shot at worshippers during Jumu’ah in Sabon Birni.

Opened fire on Muslims praying Taraweeh in Zamfara.

Burned a mosque and hospital in Zamfara — just this week.

Slaughtered the Emir of Gobir and left his body to rot in the wild.

You never spoke. You never condemned. Not once.

Even when the Sultan of Gobir was killed after leaving a meeting you convened, you said nothing. No condolences. No outrage. Just silence.

Now, you have the audacity to label grieving voices — our voices — as “terrorists”? The only thing you protect is your legacy of hypocrisy and your tribe’s impunity.

    Wallahi kowa ya sani
No ethnic group in the world has benefited more from Hausa generosity than the Fulani.
And no ethnic group has brought more suf'fering, bloo'd, and suffering to the Hausa than the Fulani.

We, the Hausa people, will not forget.
And we will not be silenced.
    This is just the beginning.
In Ka ga dama ka mutu.

  • US man, Akinyela shot dead after hijacking plane with passengers on board

A man from the US has been killed after he hijacked a small passenger plane, injuring two passengers in the Caribbean nation of Belize.

The man, identified as Akinyela Sawa Taylor, hijacked the plane with fourteen passengers onboard, taking control of the flight at knife-point.

He stabbed two passengers in the back in the process while ordering the pilot to take him out of the country.
Belize’s commissioner of police, Chester Williams, told local journalists that the hijacker was then shot in the chest by another passenger.

The plane landed safely at Philip Goldson international airport after circling erratically over the coastline near Belize City, with depleting fuel.

Taylor was pronounced dead at a local hospital, while one of the passengers with knife injury was in a critical condition.

Details of the incident remained sparse according to the Guardian UK, but Williams said passengers narrowly escaped.

The plane was en route from Corozal to San Pedro when the hijacking took place.

A spokesperson for the US embassy told reporters that it was working with Belize to investigate the incident.

  • Breaking: Vice President Shettima knocks NAHCON Chairman, Tells Him To Stop Behaving Like A Sole Admistrator.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has issued a stern directive to the Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh-Usman, cautioning him against operating the commission as though it were a one-man show. In an official communication addressed to the NAHCON boss, the vice president expressed concerns about alleged violations of procurement protocols, improper appointments, and the marginalization of board members. Dated March 17, 2025, the letter—bearing reference number SH/OVP/DCOS/NAHCON and titled ‘Re-Deliberate Exclusion from the Exercise of Oversight Functions’—was signed by Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President in the Office of the Vice President.
Shettima criticized the chairman’s practice of forming committees to make key decisions, arguing that such actions bypass the collective authority granted to the board under the commission’s legal framework. “The act does not envisage a sole administrator role and each member has a responsibility to the zone or entity he or she represents especially with regards all decisions relating to pilgrims welfare,” Mr Shettima warned. He further referenced concerns raised at a February 4, 2025 meeting where the chairman was said to have acknowledged certain lapses but failed to address them afterward. “Their letter states that they raised these issues at a meeting on February 4th 2025 where the chairman acknowledged and apologised for the lapses but apparently did nothing to address them going forward,” the VP said. “Accordingly, His Excellency the Vice President has asked that your attention be drawn to the provisions of the NAHCON act especially the supplementary provisions governing the proceedings of the commission where all reference to the powers and regulatory responsibility of the commission refers to it as a whole,” the letter said. Shettima urged Prof. Usman to ensure that board members are actively involved in decision-making, warning against rendering them redundant. “To ensure that the members of the commission are given their due as envisaged by the NAHCON act so that they are not rendered redundant and to ensure that all major decisions of the commission are in compliance with the law,” the VP emphasized. This intervention follows a petition submitted by eight non-permanent commissioners of NAHCON. Dated March 13, 2025, and titled “Deliberate exclusion from the oversight functions,” the petition accused the chairman of sidelining them from their statutory duties.

  • IPOB Slams Sultan of Sokoto: You Ignore Killer Herdsmen but Fear Social Media for Exposing Them

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly condemned the recent statement by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, in which he described social media in Nigeria as a "terrorist organisation" and called for its criminalisation.

In a statement released by IPOB's Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group labelled the Sultan’s remarks as absurd and a clear sign of fear among the northern elite, who are allegedly panicking over the continued exposure of atrocities committed by killer herdsmen.

Referencing proverbs like “a clear conscience fears no accusation” and “the wicked flee when no one pursues,” IPOB accused the Sultan — a key Fulani leader and Islamic spiritual figure — of trying to silence victims and whistleblowers who rely on social media to expose acts of terror, kidnappings, and land grabs allegedly carried out by Fulani militants.

“Instead of condemning the widespread violence and displacement caused by Fulani terrorists, the Sultan is more concerned with silencing the platforms revealing these crimes,” the statement said.

IPOB also criticised both the Sultan and the Nigerian government for consistently failing to acknowledge the true scale of Fulani-linked violence, accusing them of using mainstream media to distort the facts, labeling these attacks as mere “banditry” or “farmer-herder clashes.”

The group praised social media as a powerful tool for Nigerian youth, a source of economic empowerment, and a platform for the oppressed. They believe any attempt to silence social media is a move to suppress the truth and restrict freedom of speech.

“The Sultan can ignore the truth all he wants, but Nigerians and the international community are becoming increasingly aware of the threats posed by Fulani terrorist groups. Social media is helping to unmask these dangers,” Powerful said.

IPOB concluded by warning that any attempt to shut down social media would ultimately fail.

“If the Sultan is afraid of exposure, then he should tell the terrorists to drop their weapons. IPOB and other indigenous groups will continue to use every legal means — including social media — to resist oppression and shine light on the real causes of insecurity in Nigeria.”

The backlash comes after the Sultan made the controversial remarks during a meeting of Northern Traditional Rulers in Maiduguri, Borno State, where he described social media as a “terrorist organisation” used to spread falsehood and unrest.

His comments have since sparked outrage among Nigerians.

  • FISCAL DISCIPLINE, REVENUE DIVERSIFICATION CRITICAL FOR SUSTAINABLE DEV.- GOV UMO ENO

... as Senate President applauds his leadership style

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has emphasized on the need for states and local governments to embrace fiscal discipline and revenue diversification to achieve sustainable development.

The Governor stated this while delivering a public lecture on the theme: "Leading Economic Development in Sub-Nationals of the Nigerian Federation: The ARISE Agenda," at the University of Uyo.

He noted that the ARISE Agenda was borne out of the desire to grow the economy while developing abundant human resources in the State, focuses on eight lofty goals including; Poverty reduction, Job creation, Price stability, sustainable economic growth, improved standard of living, environmental sustainability, highly educated, healthy and skilled people, and the Security of lives and property

He further explained that the ARISE Agenda, a flagship economic blueprint that guides his administration's development efforts, is an acronym for ‘five-group aspirations’: Agricultural Revolution, Tourism Development and Environmental Management; Rural Development, Women & Youth Empowerment; Infrastructural Maintenance and Advancement; Security Management, Sound Educational and Health Sector Management; and Economic, Industrial and Social Advancement

The Governor who holds a Doctorate degree in Public Administration from the University, said that since the inception of his administration, wastages in government have been minimized, and the government is determined to expand its revenue base by digitalization of government operations.

"Soon, we will launch AKWAGIS, a digital platform where we will be collecting ground rent, which as we speak is in the region of N16 billion. Through this platform, we will be able to seamlessly offer Certificates of Occupancy, which would help attract businesses to our State.

"We are also investing heavily in the tourism sector that has been variously described as the “New Black Gold.” From agricultural tourism, through our Ibom Model Farm, to medical tourism, with our planned Ibom International Medical Centre - a 200-bed hospital that will come with 24 different departments under one roof. This hospital, once completed, will compare to any such facility anywhere in the world.

"The ARISE Resort, which we hope to commission in the first half of this year, the International Conference Centre, the Ibom Tropicana Hotel, which we are poised to complete will signpost our ascendancy as the tourism hub of our nation and bring in billions of Naira in revenue.

" We remain committed to the growth and expansion of Ibom Air and work is ongoing in the Aviation Village, as part of our investments in the aviation eco- system.

"We are committed to the human capital development of our people and this has been acknowledged by the Federal Government and the World Bank, leading to the launch two days ago, of the Human Capital Development Strategic Plan by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON.

"We have achieved a success rate of 3.5% out of school children, against the national average of 25.6% - a truly remarkable feat.

"We are positioning our State for growth beyond oil by these strategic investments in tourism and human capital development," he said.

The Governor said to ensure the success of economic development in sub-nationals, policymakers must develop action plans before implementation, strengthen governance and institutional capacity, enhance internally generated revenue (IGR) to reduce reliance on federal allocations, promote regional economic cooperation and trade among states, encourage private sector-led development through investment incentives, and focus on collaboration rather than conflicts.

He appreciated the crafters of the ARISE Agenda, and expressed his determination to go the extra mile to further development in the State, while urging policymakers, corporate bodies, the academia, and citizens to join hands with him in the journey towards a prosperous, self-reliant, and globally competitive sub-national economy.

In his remarks, the President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio applauded the Governor for his inclusive leadership disposition which according to him has engendered unprecedented peace and security in the State.

Senator Akpabio who was represented by Dr. Saviour Enyiekere, Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), also commended the Governor for his collaboration with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government, and assured of the support of the All Progressives Congress in the State to ensure the Governor's second term victory in 2027.

Chairman of the Occasion, Emeritus Prof. Akpan Ekpo, the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo and the Dean of the Host Faculty, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Christopher Ekong as well as Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Prof. Peter Esuh appreciated the Governor for accepting to share his thoughts through the public lecture, stressing that the ARISE Agenda is a comprehensive document that can drive development in the State and other sub-nationals.

The event which attracted eminent personalities within and outside the State, had as discussants, Prof. Okechukwu Onuchukwu, Vice - Chancellor, Ignatius Aguru University of Education, Rivers State, and Prof. Ebebe Ukpong, a development expert and former Commissioner in the State.
