  • “They Told Me I Was Their Maid — But When Their Mother Was Dying, She Whispered: ‘You’re the Only True Blood in This House.’”

PART ONE — THE GIRL WHO NEVER ATE AT THE TABLE

I grew up in the Olamide household.

They said I was brought from the village at age 3.

No records. No birthday photos. No visitors for me.

I mopped floors before sunrise and washed dishes after midnight.

They sent their three children to private schools.

Me? I learned by watching TV and stealing old textbooks from the dustbin.

When I once sat at the table, Madam slapped me.

    > “Did you forget you're the help?”

    I never forgot again.

PART TWO — THE STRANGE WOMAN IN THE GARDEN

When I turned 15, Grandma Olamide moved into the boys' quarters due to her stroke.

    Everyone avoided her.

But I helped clean her room. Washed her clothes. Fed her.

She couldn't speak clearly — only her eyes worked.

One night, while I was braiding her hair, she touched my face and started crying.

    She whispered:

    > “You… are the only true blood here.”

    I froze.

    > “What do you mean, Mama?”

But she had already closed her eyes.

PART THREE — THE LETTER BEHIND THE PORTRAIT

After Mama died, they asked me to clean out her room.

Behind her old painting, I found a letter.

It was from her to her son — Chief Olamide.

    > “You may lie to the world, but God sees. She is your first daughter. The one you had before your marriage. If you hide her forever, you’ll lose everything.”

Tears fell down my cheeks like acid.

    I was never a maid.

    I was the firstborn.

PART FOUR — THE HEIR WITH NO NAME

I took photos of the letter.

    Went back to cleaning toilets.

    But something inside me shifted.

I applied for WAEC as an external student.

    Scored 9 distinctions.

    Won a scholarship.

Packed my bags quietly at night.

Left the house with ₦1,200 and fire in my chest.

PART FIVE — THE YEARS THEY DIDN’T SEE ME
I worked in a printing press.

  • Beloved, we should give our lives to God and stop thinking of ourselves. When we focus on Him, He will show us how to live a meaningful life. Each morning put God first and He will be faithful to help us live a life that pleases Him. Let us be encouraged to trust him and find joy in giving our lives to Him. (Eph 2v20)
Lord, l offer you all that l am and all that l have. I want to live for you, not for myself. I will keep my focus on you and start each day in conversation with you. You will always be my top priority... Amen.

  • You buy lipstick to paint your lips —beautiful, bold, bright

But your breath? "Odogwu" himself runs for cover.
One whisper about “the smell,” and shame burns hotter than pepper soup.

Your confidence crumbles like garri in hot water.

    You’re not dirty.
Your gut’s just screaming for help.

    You’ve tried it all—

    —Mouthwash marathon
    —Gum-chewing championships
    —Brushing till your gums bleeds
    —Bakin soda experiment
—You sip fruit juice praying for "juicy vibes"

But that "dead rat + rotten eggs" aura clings like Lagos traffic.
Flies faint at your breath's anointing
Monica side-eyes anytime you speak. Embarrassment win you everyday.

Yet, the smell keeps challenging the air around everyone, the more you do the more it worsens.

    Here’s the truth, Obianuju:

That stench? It’s a gut riot. Too many rebel bacteria throwing a gas party in your belly—hydrogen sulfide fests, methane explosions. Their toxic vibes ride your bloodstream straight to your breath. Oh girl, you need help!

Fix the gut, end the odor war:

    - Starve the bacteria by cutting off sugar, bread and refined carbs because they feed bad bacteria causing more gut flora imbalances and inflammation.

    - Rebuild gut Flora with probiotics from sauckeraut, apple cider vinegar (1tbsp in warm water daily) and also prebiotics from leafy greens

    - Fix the plumbing with Intermittent fasting by giving your gut a rest to reduce fermentation and gas buildup. Don't forget to hydrate by sipping warm lemon water or ginger tea to keep things moving. Constipation = more bacterial toxins.

    - Heal your gut Lining with bone broth: Collagen and glutamine repair leaky gut.
Zinc carnosine of 50 mg daily to seal the gut lining and reduce inflammation.

    - Avoid triggers by ditching seed oils because Inflammation from canola, soybean, and sunflower oil e.t.c can worsen dysbiosis. For alcohol, just cancel it; because it nukes good bacteria and irritates the gut.

Gut healing takes time, There's no overnight magic —Your gut will heal and your breath will bow down eventually as you stick.

Obianuju, silence the stink and Own your aura. You are too beautiful to be caught Unfresh!

  • *THE RESTORER'S DAILY GUIDE*

    DATE: SUNDAY 13TH JULY 2025

    THEME: *BE DETERMINED*

    MEMORIZE
    Matthew 11:12
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

    READ
    Mark 2:1-5
And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

    THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
*Determination will always find a way out no matter the barriers and obstacles it encounters on its path.*

    MESSAGE
Determination is firmness of purpose. It is the tendency to move in a fixed direction.

Determination is the result of faith in the heart and purpose in the soul.

It forces its way through opposition to reach its goal. It is an unflinching belief in a cause that must be accomplished. It says: there is no going back until purpose is actualized to the letter. It is the ability to maintain focus to the end of a cause.

Determination will always find a way to reach its goal no matter the barriers and obstacles it encounters on its path.

Today's text paints a clear picture of what determination is all about and what it can do in order to accomplish its goal.

The four nameless helpers of the paralytic man embodied determination as a team. And by their actions to meet Jesus at all costs, they showcased resolute faith. Determination being an offshoot of faith can only reflect its source and identity.

Obstacles, challenges, and difficulties are normal with the fallen earth when it comes to pursuing any task on the earth: but with determination, there is always a way out.

It doesn't matter the challenges lined up on your path to purpose.
You will reach your goal and have your desires granted if you are truly determined.

    ACTION STEPS
    1. Establish a divine purpose or task that must be accomplished.
    2. Map out strategies to follow.
    3. Be determined to follow through to the end.

    PRAYERS
Dear heavenly Father, Thank you for today's devotional guide. Help me to stay focused on your plan for my life and to fulfil it in Jesus' name. Amen.

    REMEMBER
*Determination will always find a way out no matter the barriers and obstacles it encounters on its path.*

    AUTHOR: JEDIDIAH DAVID

    DAILY READING: Ecclesiastes 11-12, 2Thess 3, 1Timothy 1-2.

    HYMN
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way !
While we do His good will.
    He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.

    2
    Not a shadow can rise
Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away ;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

    3
    Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay ;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.

    4
    But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
    Until all on the altar we lay ;
    For the favour He shows,
    And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

    5
    Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
    Or we'll walk by His side in the way ;
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.

  • IMPORTANCE OF SAYING SORRY IN A RELATIONSHIP AND MARRIAGE WHEN YOU ARE WRONG

Apologizing is an essential part of maintaining a healthy, strong, and resilient relationship or marriage. It serves as a bridge to healing, restoring trust, and building a deeper connection with your partner. Here’s why saying sorry is so important:

    WHY APOLOGIZE?

    1. Acknowledges hurt or wrongdoing
An apology signals that you recognize the pain or harm caused by your actions, showing that you care about how your partner feels.

    2. Shows empathy and understanding
It reflects an understanding of your partner's perspective and emotions, demonstrating that you value their feelings.

    3. Diffuses tension and conflict
Apologizing helps to de-escalate difficult situations, calming emotions and clearing the air for healthy communication.

    4. Rebuilds trust and credibility
A sincere apology demonstrates your willingness to take responsibility for your actions, which helps rebuild lost trust and re-establish credibility in your relationship.

    5. Demonstrates accountability and responsibility
Apologizing shows you are accountable for your actions, accepting responsibility rather than deflecting blame.

    6. Encourages forgiveness and healing
Saying sorry opens the door to forgiveness, allowing both partners to move forward and heal together.

    7. Strengthens communication and intimacy
Apologizing fosters open, honest conversations, deepening emotional intimacy and mutual understanding.

    8. Sets a positive example for conflict resolution
By apologizing, you teach the importance of humility, reconciliation, and healthy conflict resolution to others, especially children or those observing your relationship.

    BENEFITS OF APOLOGIZING

    1. Reduces stress and anxiety
Apologies clear the air, easing emotional tension and creating a more peaceful environment.

    2. Increases feelings of love and affection
A heartfelt apology can rekindle affection, making your partner feel valued and loved, even after a disagreement.

    3. Improves communication and understanding
Apologizing encourages open dialogue and helps both partners understand each other better, leading to stronger communication.

    4. Enhances relationship satisfaction
Relationships where apologies are given sincerely are more likely to be fulfilling and positive.

    5. Encourages personal growth and self-awareness
Apologizing invites self-reflection, allowing both partners to learn from their mistakes and grow individually and together.

    6. Fosters a culture of respect and empathy
By apologizing, you reinforce a culture where mutual respect and empathy thrive, making the relationship a safe space for both partners.

    7. Helps to avoid resentment and anger
Avoiding the “silent treatment” or holding grudges, a genuine apology helps to prevent negative emotions from building up over time.

    8. Promotes a healthier and happier relationship
Relationships that feature regular, honest apologies are healthier and more likely to be enduring because they are rooted in love and respect.

    HOW TO APOLOGIZE EFFECTIVELY
    4
    1. Use the "3 Rs" of apology: Regret, Responsibility, and Remedy
Regret the hurt caused, take responsibility for your actions, and suggest a remedy for moving forward.

    2. Be sincere and genuine in your apology
Authenticity is key. A half-hearted apology can often do more harm than good.

    3. Listen actively to your partner's concerns
Give your partner space to express their feelings and truly listen without interrupting or defending yourself.

    4. Validate your partner's feelings and experiences
Acknowledge that your partner's feelings are valid, even if you didn’t intend to hurt them.

    5. Offer a specific solution or plan for change
Demonstrate your commitment to improving by offering a clear solution or changes you’ll make moving forward.

    6. Follow through on your commitments
An apology is only meaningful if it’s backed up by action. Ensure that you take steps to avoid repeating the same mistake.

    7. Show empathy and understanding
Show that you truly understand how your actions have impacted your partner, not just in words but in actions as well.

    8. Be patient and open to feedback
Healing takes time. Be patient with your partner and open to hearing how they feel, even if it takes time to forgive.

    TIPS FOR MEN

    1. Swallow your pride and admit fault
It takes strength to admit when you’re wrong. Let go of your ego to foster a deeper connection.

    2. Use "I" statements to take ownership
Phrases like “I am sorry for…” rather than “You made me do…” put the responsibility on you.

    3. Avoid making excuses or justifying
Resist the urge to explain away the mistake. Just apologize and focus on your partner’s feelings.

    4. Show vulnerability and emotional intelligence
Being open about your emotions builds trust and shows that you care about your partner's feelings.

    5. Be willing to make amends
Your partner should feel that your apology is sincere, so be prepared to make real changes if necessary.

    TIPS FOR WOMEN

    1. Communicate clearly and assertively
Share your feelings honestly and directly, avoiding passive-aggressive behavior or withholding.

    2. Specify what you need from your partner
Let your partner know what will help resolve the issue or what you need moving forward.

    3. Avoid being critical or judgmental
Offer a soft, loving approach when addressing the issue, rather than criticizing or pointing fingers.

    4. Show appreciation for your partner's apology
When your partner apologizes, acknowledge their effort and express gratitude for their sincerity.

    5. Encourage open and honest communication
Foster a space where both partners can freely express their feelings without fear of judgment.

    WHEN TO APOLOGIZE

    1. After a conflict or argument
Don’t wait for too long to apologize. Address the issue as soon as possible to prevent lingering resentment.

    2. When you've hurt or offended your partner
If your words or actions have caused pain, it’s important to recognize that and apologize immediately.

    3. When you've made a mistake or error
A simple acknowledgment that you were wrong goes a long way in healing wounds.

    4. When you've broken a promise or commitment
If you’ve failed to keep your word, apologize and demonstrate that you can be trusted moving forward.

    5. When you've disregarded your partner's feelings
Apologizing when you’ve been insensitive shows respect for your partner's emotional well-being.

Saying sorry isn’t just about saying words; it’s about understanding, acknowledging, and healing. By apologizing effectively, you strengthen your relationship, deepen trust, and build a stronger foundation for the future.

Be sincere and genuine in your apology Authenticity is key. A half-hearted apology can often do more harm than good. 3. Listen actively to your partner's concerns Give your partner space to express their feelings and truly listen without interrupting or defending yourself. 4. Validate your partner's feelings and experiences Acknowledge that your partner's feelings are valid, even if you didn’t intend to hurt them. 5. Offer a specific solution or plan for change Demonstrate your commitment to improving by offering a clear solution or changes you’ll make moving forward. 6. Follow through on your commitments An apology is only meaningful if it’s backed up by action. Ensure that you take steps to avoid repeating the same mistake. 7. Show empathy and understanding Show that you truly understand how your actions have impacted your partner, not just in words but in actions as well. 8. Be patient and open to feedback Healing takes time. Be patient with your partner and open to hearing how they feel, even if it takes time to forgive. TIPS FOR MEN 🤜🤛 1. Swallow your pride and admit fault It takes strength to admit when you’re wrong. Let go of your ego to foster a deeper connection. 2. Use "I" statements to take ownership Phrases like “I am sorry for…” rather than “You made me do…” put the responsibility on you. 3. Avoid making excuses or justifying Resist the urge to explain away the mistake. Just apologize and focus on your partner’s feelings. 4. Show vulnerability and emotional intelligence Being open about your emotions builds trust and shows that you care about your partner's feelings. 5. Be willing to make amends Your partner should feel that your apology is sincere, so be prepared to make real changes if necessary. TIPS FOR WOMEN 👗 1. Communicate clearly and assertively Share your feelings honestly and directly, avoiding passive-aggressive behavior or withholding. 2. Specify what you need from your partner Let your partner know what will help resolve the issue or what you need moving forward. 3. Avoid being critical or judgmental Offer a soft, loving approach when addressing the issue, rather than criticizing or pointing fingers. 4. Show appreciation for your partner's apology When your partner apologizes, acknowledge their effort and express gratitude for their sincerity. 5. Encourage open and honest communication Foster a space where both partners can freely express their feelings without fear of judgment. WHEN TO APOLOGIZE 🤝 1. After a conflict or argument Don’t wait for too long to apologize. Address the issue as soon as possible to prevent lingering resentment. 2. When you've hurt or offended your partner If your words or actions have caused pain, it’s important to recognize that and apologize immediately. 3. When you've made a mistake or error A simple acknowledgment that you were wrong goes a long way in healing wounds. 4. When you've broken a promise or commitment If you’ve failed to keep your word, apologize and demonstrate that you can be trusted moving forward. 5. When you've disregarded your partner's feelings Apologizing when you’ve been insensitive shows respect for your partner's emotional well-being. Saying sorry isn’t just about saying words; it’s about understanding, acknowledging, and healing. By apologizing effectively, you strengthen your relationship, deepen trust, and build a stronger foundation for the future.

  • The Silent Cry: The Real Dangers of Abortion

Intro: A True-Like Story That Happens Every Day

Ama was only 19, in her second year at the university. Bright. Ambitious. Full of dreams.
But life doesn’t always go as planned.

She found out she was pregnant. The father? A guy who had already moved on. Family? She feared the shame. Friends? Most encouraged her to "just take it out and move on."

So one quiet afternoon, Ama walked into a backstreet clinic—no signboard, no license, just a promise of quick results. She came out with a heavy heart, bleeding… not just physically but emotionally and spiritually.

Days later, Ama collapsed in her hostel. The infection had spread. Her womb was damaged. Her dreams of ever carrying a child again? Gone.

This is not just Ama’s story. It is the story of thousands of young women across Ghana and Africa. Some survive. Some don’t. Most carry the scars forever.

    What Is Abortion?

Abortion is the deliberate termination of a pregnancy before the baby can survive outside the womb.
While some abortions are carried out under strict medical guidance due to life-threatening complications, unsafe abortions—especially those done secretly, by untrained persons, or in unsanitary places—pose deadly risks.

Dangers of Abortion (Especially Unsafe or Repeated)

    1. Physical Health Risks

Severe bleeding (hemorrhage): Can lead to death if untreated.

Infections: Unsanitary tools or poor hygiene can introduce bacteria that damage reproductive organs or cause sepsis (blood poisoning).

Womb perforation: Instruments can tear the uterus, leading to long-term complications or emergency surgery.

Infertility: Damage to the womb or fallopian tubes can result in permanent infertility.

Organ damage: Unsafe procedures can harm nearby organs like the bladder or intestines.

    2. Mental and Emotional Trauma

Depression, guilt, and regret are common.

Post-Abortion Syndrome: A condition similar to PTSD, marked by anxiety, nightmares, emotional numbness, and self-blame.

    3. Social and Spiritual Consequences

Emotional distance from partners or family.

Isolation due to fear or stigma.

Spiritual guilt or disconnection for those with strong religious values.

Common Myths That Push Women Toward Abortion

“It’s just a small problem, take it out.”
→ No. Pregnancy involves two lives: the mother and the child.

“Abortion is safer than giving birth.”
→ Only when done legally and under medical care. Unsafe abortions kill more women than childbirth in many places.

“You can’t get pregnant again after just one abortion.”
→ Many women have faced infertility after a single poorly done abortion.

    What Should You Do Instead?

Talk to a health professional: Seek counseling and support services.

Look into adoption: Many families are looking to adopt children.

Educate yourself: Know your body, understand protection, and make informed decisions.

Join support groups: You're not alone. There are safe spaces to help you make the best decision.

The Way Forward for Ghana and Africa

    We need more education—not judgment.
We need safe spaces, not silence.
We need men to take responsibility, not escape it.
We need communities to empower, not shame.
Let’s protect our women, our daughters, and our sisters from the trap of unsafe abortions.

    Sister Grace:
Excuse me?! My name is Sister Grace, not baby!
    Is “baby” in the Bible?
Did Abraham ever call Sarah baby?
Did Joseph call Mary baby boo?
Brother Joseph, that name is too worldly, not heavenly!
I thought you were born again? I'm disappointed

    Brother Joseph:

    Sister Grace:
    Psalm 28:7!

    Brother Joseph:
Wow! Should I come help you?

    Sister Grace:
    God forbid!
I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!
He is my ever-present help in the kitchen!

    Brother Joseph:
Hmm okay... At least let me come after you're done, so you can serve me

    Sister Grace:
I only serve the Living God, not man!
As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord — Joshua 24:15

    Brother Joseph:
This one na holy hotness o! Okay... what are you wearing right now?

    Sister Grace:
If you were truly spiritual, you'd already know!
I'm wearing the FULL ARMOR OF GOD!
No weapon formed against me shall prosper!

    Brother Joseph:
Chai! This is too much. I give up!

    Sister Grace:
Ha! If you give up so easily, then you're not my divinely ordained husband.

  • What no one told me about marriage before I enter that I want to tell you.

This is for those planning to marry or those who just got married.
If you are open-minded, you can still read.
    Nobody knows it all.

    1. Immediately you get married, even before having a baby, go and register your family for health insurance.
NHIS is one of the common ones and the most available in hospitals.
It will save you a lot.
There are some things the rich won’t tell you.
With NHIS, you can walk into any hospital and get treated cheap depending on the package.
A friend of mine once did an operation and all he paid was ₦10k something that would have cost ₦400k.

    2. Have a family doctor very very important.
See, no church will tell you this.
Even if you don’t have money for a family doctor, have someone you can call in case of emergency.
Especially a pediatrician when you start having kids.

    3. Also, have a family lawyer.
Recently, our family lawyer saved us over ₦500k in rent that I wanted to forfeit.
But because she stepped in and did her job, money was refunded seamlessly.

    4. If you can afford it, have at least one domestic staff.
Someone that can at least help ease the work in the house for you and madam.
My brother, ejiro kwa afufu anya isi.
    Get help if you can.

    5. Buy things in bulk.
The reason I live like a wealthy man today is because I buy everything I need down to toothpaste in bulk.
You spend more buying in bits than when you buy in bulk.
That’s one of the reasons I created my sharing platform to enable family men and women with common goals.
There is nothing we don’t share. Some of you reading this are in that group.

    6. Pay your children’s school fees before school resumes.
As I’m talking to you now, I’ve already sent SGM the kids’ school fees that’ll be paid in September.
I don’t have to worry about it again.
    It helps me plan myself.
Do everything possible to pay school fees before resumption. You won’t know what you’re doing until money goes on leave from your side.

    7. Strive to have passive income.
Something that can generate at least ₦3-5k every day.
No matter what try and get something like that.
It will save you from a lot of stress.

    8. See the friends and circle your kids will have tomorrow everything depends on the school they attend.
This one is very, very important.
Even if you don’t have money, find a way to send your children to one of the best schools.
You won’t realise what you’re doing until they come of age.

9.I learnt this one from my dad always have family meetings.
You, your wife, and your kids no matter how small they are.
Discuss problems, solutions, and way forward.
Allow the kids air their opinions.

    Ask the kids:
Is there something mummy and daddy are doing that they don’t like?

    Same thing with your wife.
Talk about what you both can do to have a stable and loving family.
This helps in uniting the family.

Every month is fine or even every 6 months.
Just make it a habit and a culture.
It’ll become a memory that sticks for the kids, and for you and madam too.

Everyone’s opinion in the family matters.
And as the man, it’s your job to hear everybody’s opinion and choose the best way to run the family.

This isn’t just for the man alone madam can initiate it too. There’s no perfect formula, yes. But this one I listed? It works every time.
I repeat if you try it, you’ll save yourself a lot of unnecessary headache and stress.
You can add yours... enjoy your weekend.
