• My wife and I have been experiencing a drought in our physical relationship since last year. Every night, she goes to bed early, and if I try to touch her while she's asleep, she declines and has no memory of it in the morning. Every time when I attempt to initiate intimacy, she doesn't respond, so I end up finding other ways to satisfy myself because I don't want to compromising our marriage. I love my wife and our family very much. When I bring this up with her, she suggests that it's not acceptable when the children are around and I agree with her on that however, even when we're alone, she still goes to bed early and does not want or appreciate to be disturbed at all. What can I do please assist

  • THE MARKETPLACE AND BRANDING

What brands are you loyal to and won’t even consider alternatives? What do you like about their products? When we shop—whether for groceries, clothing, garden tools, household appliances, or even hairdressers—we tend to choose similar items that suit our tastes, like the chicken nuggets from a particular brand, Mercedes-Benz cars, Nike footwear and apparel, Louis Vuitton bags, gold earrings, Estée Lauder cosmetics, Levi jeans, Gucci accessories, and the list goes on. We might prefer one brand of butter over another because it advertises having less salt, or we may opt for lower-carb bread, biscuits, and baking products.

However, we often overlook the production, manufacturing, labour, and supply chain behind these commodities. When we see Nike shoes, we recognise them as Nike due to the brand identity it has built through various mediums, such as advertising with sports celebrities. Its "Just Do It" tagline is as iconic as the tick. Brands targeting high-end consumers understand their values and how to communicate effectively within that domain. Companies like Disneyland have created such a powerful identity worldwide that nearly every child and adult knows who Cinderella or Mickey Mouse is, and perhaps more recently, Woody from Toy Story. Moreover, they enhance their market presence by selling toys, memorabilia, and dress-ups, allowing children to bring characters like Woody to life in their imaginations, just as they do in films.

Perfumes utilise sensual signs to market their brand, while advertisements featuring chocolate entice people through their imagination, preying on their cravings for sugars and saturated fats. Today, we witness an epidemic of energy drinks and vapes available in an array of flavours, including candy floss, licorice, and apple, which are all linked to various addictions. Despite this, they are still permitted to trade in the marketplace. People develop attachments to brands, and even at the market level, the notion of commodity fetishism arises from brand identity and their positioning within the marketplace. Packaging can resonate with consumers, leading them to purchase commodities based on their values and the identities those products may represent. For instance, high-end cars, luxury bedding made from Egyptian cotton, bags that signify class or status, and cosmetics and health products all target a woman’s core identity regarding her appearance, which is valued highly by the global system.

Even fitness, sleep programs, and diets could generate millions in revenue worldwide every day. We show loyalty to coffee and tea brands, yet we often overlook the hard work behind them and the low prices farmers receive for the beans, especially given the intense competition as rivals strive to outdo each other. Gaming is shaped by characters and the game structure, which targets identities and even gender, depending on its style of play. Generally, women often engage in different game structures than those involving war or fighting, such as boxing matches and shooting. They also target children's or mothers’ values to ensure that kids receive an education, starting with preschoolers learning the alphabet, colours, shapes and how to count. All these brands are consumer-driven and created based on what consumers demand. Food, shampoos, and cleaning products—from high-end brands to general cleaners—position themselves in the market on supermarket shelves. Commercial cleaning companies targeting high-end consumers often avoid placing their products on supermarket shelves to maintain their prestigious image.

People use many tricks, like packaging items in the same box while providing less product for the same price. Depending on the strategy and, most importantly, the product positioning—such as skateboards and surfing—these must be available in areas with the culture to support the growth of that product. Investing in a digital website is often more worthwhile than investing in a physical shop, as online platforms eliminate the fixed costs associated with paying rent. Although more people are investing in the service sector of the Internet, which has transformed the medium and expanded the marketplace for potential consumers, additional skills are necessary to make connections. Being online doesn’t ensure that the consumers you need will be reachable. You also must know how to attract visitors to your website, as many are caught in echo chambers, and thousands of similar products support different brand identities. This is why the competition is so fierce.

Brand identities that may harm the environment and create jobs where people earn far less than they need to survive pose ethical questions. Yet, marketers target commodity fetishism, appealing to consumers who indulge without considering the damage this may inflict on our planet and the livelihoods of families on insufficient wages. This highlights the importance of understanding our political economy, what protections exist against these abuses of our environment, and those grappling with daily costs. This has significantly changed with the rise of the internet and the media we engage with daily. One of social media's business models is advertising. They identify what people like and sell that information to advertisers, ensuring their brands reach the desired audience.

This adds a significant layer of complexity to the changes we collectively face today, whether in England or Spain, as we remain digitally connected. The political economy influences how platforms make products visible and determine who sees what. Numerous questions are surfacing regarding international law, especially given the absence of adequate international laws to protect the planet and the issues of low wages and slave labour supplying commodities to high-end consumers.

While we are only in the early stages of many changes that have occurred in this era, there are questions we all need to ask. For instance, what does it take to ensure brand loyalty? Should we consider more local options to reduce greenhouse gases? What can be done to remove harmful products from our shelves that are causing epidemics? Which companies hold industries to ransom, particularly regarding medication availability and how they prevent cheaper brands from entering the market due to their patents? There is so much we do not see or understand about the negative externalities created by the marketplace. While there are also positive externalities, such as access to shoes and household appliances, that make our lives easier, we must take a holistic perspective and question everything.

  • ‘One morning, I woke up to find my neighbor's children drinking garri with salt in the compound.

They saw me and greeted me.

    "Uncle good morning."

    The last born shouted.

    "Uncle come and eat."

    Playfully I walked to them.

    "What are you eating?"

    "Gmax." The firstborn replied.

The rest of the children laughed.

    "You mean Garri?"

"Uncle this is not garri, it is GMax. A kind of snack."

    I chuckled.

I told them to bring me a spoon let me join them.

They raised their head and looked at me. They were shocked.

The second born touched the last born and said.

"Go and bring spoon for Uncle. Uncle wants to eat GMax snacks."

The boy ran in and returned with a spoon.

As I took a spoon, that was when I realized the Garri was not with Sugar but with salt.

    The children started laughing.

I paused for a while and swallowed.

"Uncle, so you use to eat GMax snacks too." The last born asked.

I nodded my head. I told him I am a professional in Gmax garri.

Their mother who heard the laughter came out of the room and saw me. She was smiling.

"Uncle, you seff dey drink garri."

I told her I decided to join my younger brothers to eat.

    She smiled.

"Eya. Today wey we no get better food to cook except garri, na that time you come chop."

    I chuckled.

"Madam, God know say na my favourite food na im make he make me see am to chop today."

    The last born laughed.

    "Uncle like Gmax o."

I told her that after eating, I and my younger brothers(her children) would go out and buy noodles for breakfast.

    She laughed.

The boys were excited. They began to rush the garri so it would finish quickly.

When we were done drinking Garri, I took the boys out and I bought a carton of noodles for them.

When the mother saw her children carrying a carton into the house, she became emotional.

    She said to me.

"Uncle, this is the first time I will have anything in a carton in my house. See how God take bless her children."

I handed her money that would be enough to cook two pots of soup for the week.

The first child held my hands and said.

    "Uncle, Thank you."

He beckoned on the brothers to come say thank you.

The last child ran and embraced me.

    Then he said.

"Uncle... Uncle... In the afternoon you will come and eat GMax with us again ba. We would put sugar inside for you."

I tried hard to hold back my tears.

Before you look down on that meal God has provided you to eat, remember that there are people who do not have up to that standard. Be grateful and contented.’

  • Sen. David Mark’s daughter, House of Representatives member Hon. Blessing Onuh, is still a member of the APC, while her father is the leader Coalition of the ADC. Nasir El-Rufai is another key figure in the coalition, yet his son also a member of the House of Representatives remains in the APC with no plans to leave.

Rotimi Amaechi, another prominent leader of the coalition from the South-South, is already threatening fire with brimstone and calling for bloodshed, yet his children are not even in the country. And somehow, there are people customized intellectuals, as I call them who believe these men are serious?

I have no problem with a coalition of the opposition challenging the incumbent. My problem lies with the kind of politicians leading this charge those who now parade themselves as saints. These are the same Buhari loyalists who once sang his praises, even as he led us into this economic quagmire. And now you want me to believe they’ll perform differently if they unseat President Tinubu?

There’s a saying: once bitten, twice shy. We already lived through the Buhari “change” mantra, we can’t afford another version of that disaster. For me, it’s better we just lallaba like this dey go.

*_THE MASSIVE WEALTH AND PROPERTIES LEFT BEHIND BY ALH. AMINU DANTATA_*

He left behind ₦61 trillion in cash in both Nigerian and foreign banks. He also left behind 800 petrol stations within and outside Nigeria that do not bear his name but belong to him.

In Kano alone, he left 500 houses, plus 1,200 plots with only fencing or partial structures, no buildings on them—just empty plots.
He also left 320 houses in other towns across Nigeria and abroad.

He left 280 vehicles in use and another 120 vehicles that are not in use, just parked.
He left shares worth over ₦30 trillion in companies within and outside Nigeria.

In an interview he granted in 2022, he said he started buying private jets in 1967 at the cost of $120,000 USD. As of now, he has 10 private jets, each not worth less than ₦1 billion.

This is just a fraction of what his heirs said about the wealth the late Alh. Aminu Dantata left behind!

  • Good morning my beloved brethren. I trust you are doing great , Praise God!

    TODAY'S WORD OF GOD:

"Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. Psalm 103:13"

Pity and compassion are synonyms and mean a strong feeling of sympathy for someone or something.
God doesn't have pity or compassion on everybody. He only has compassion on those who fear Him; to fear God is to hate evil, love people, and do good (Proverbs 8:13).
Dear beloved, if you want to enjoy the compassion of God, then you need to fear God and depart from all manners of evil.
I urge God's children who are wallowing in all manners of sins because they have taken God for granted to *repent* and turn to God for there's no sin He cannot forgive.
May you never take God for granted so that He can expose you to all of His inheritance and allow you to enjoy every one of them in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! Be blessed!
    Happy weekend. SHALOM!

  • 9 STEPS TO TAKE BEFORE YOU QUIT YOUR MARRIAGE

God wants you to be happy in your marriage. He wants you to have a marriage without sorrow. God wants you to have a strong, consistent, stable and beautiful marriage. No matter where you are presently in your marital journey, I want you to know that there is a brighter marital future ahead of you by God’s grace.

    WHAT TO DO:

    1. EXAMINE YOURSELF

Examine your characters first and make the necessary corrections. You can't have the marriage of your dreams if you are part of the problems. You may need to replace some negative statements and give up some undesirable attitudes. Develop emotional intelligence by recognizing, understanding, and managing your emotions. Show empathy towards your spouse, and try to see things from their point of view.

Make amends where necessary. Do not be a difficult partner, be a peace maker and not a trouble maker. Make up your mind to improve, even if your spouse fails to improve.

    2. COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SPOUSE

Marital harmony cannot occur without communication, and in situations where peaceful union is not possible, frustration takes over. Practice open, honest, and respectful communication. Listen actively, express yourself clearly, and make an effort to understand each other's perspectives.

Ask your spouse if there is any character he wants you to change to bring peace in the home. Create time to talk. To resolve the issue, get together and sit down. Instead of focusing on the personality, jointly address the underlying cause. Don’t apportion blame to anybody but apologize to one another in love. Use positive words to settle your disputes and disagreements with heart-to-heart discussions.

    3. GIVE TOTAL COMMITMENT TO YOUR MARRIAGE

Your commitment to your spouse determines the beauty of your relationship. A happy marriage does not just happen by chance or luck; it is deliberately created. 9 STEPS TO TAKE BEFORE YOU QUIT YOUR MARRIAGE❗❗❗ God wants you to be happy in your marriage. He wants you to have a marriage without sorrow. God wants you to have a strong, consistent, stable and beautiful marriage. No matter where you are presently in your marital journey, I want you to know that there is a brighter marital future ahead of you by God’s grace. WHAT TO DO: 1. 📌EXAMINE YOURSELF Examine your characters first and make the necessary corrections. 2. 📌COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SPOUSE Marital harmony cannot occur without communication, and in situations where peaceful union is not possible, frustration takes over. 3. 📌GIVE TOTAL COMMITMENT TO YOUR MARRIAGE Your commitment to your spouse determines the beauty of your relationship. A happy marriage does not just happen by chance or luck; it is deliberately created. Marriage requires personal commitment to ensure its success. The more you invest in your marriage, the more valuable it becomes. When you are committed to your marriage, you put in all your efforts to bring out the best in it. Getting your spouse to fall in love with you over and over again is easy once you have the right information and you apply it. 4. 📌WORK AT YOUR MARRIAGE UNTIL YOU INTENTIONALLY WORK AT YOUR MARRIAGE, IT WON'T WORK! • The Death of Diogo Jota

The sad news today is the death of the Liverpool soccer star Diogo Jota in a car crash in Spain with his younger brother.

Diogo Jota was 28 years old. He won the Premier League title with Liverpool just last season and played for Portugal’s national team. He got married to Rute Cardoso just two weeks ago. The couple have three children together.

The crash occurred near Zamora in northwestern Spain. Jota’s brother, André Silva, was also killed.

His brother Silva was 26 years old. The report says it was a road accident due to a burst tire while overtaking. This happened around 00:30 a.m. local time.

The police force added that the car, which Spanish media said was a Lamborghini, subsequently caught fire.

    Hmmmmmmm!

This is sad. Very sad. I think about the wife. The children. The family of Diogo and his brother. The flourishing career of these two brothers. The fans. Everything.

    A lot to take in.

    But this is life.

You make the decision to drive. Other drivers also made the decision to drive. You take the decision to overtake. If the car is sound and well, it will work as built. If it is faulty, it will react to the fault.

    As I keep saying,

We go out every day to MAKE ENDS MEET. Our prayer is that all the different ends should meet to our favour.

    But if they don't meet,

Don't take it personal. It is what it is.

May their souls rest in peace. Amen!
