Ada had hidden it somewhere else. But something else caught her eye — an old journal with the name “E.D.” on the cover. She opened it. The first page was innocent — business notes, expenses. But the third page stopped her heart. > “I told her never to come here again. The child must never know the truth.” Nkem blinked. What child? What truth? Suddenly, she heard footsteps. Ada was standing behind her. “You shouldn’t be reading that,” Ada said calmly, but there was something icy in her tone.
