  • Dangote Refinery introduces N10 rebate on petrol purchases
    By : Guardian Nigeria
    Date: 12 May 2025

The Dangote Petrochemicals Refinery has implemented a N10 rebate on the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, reducing the effective cost for its customers to N825 per litre.

It was gathered on Monday that while marketers are still purchasing petrol at the publicly announced ex-gantry price of N835 per litre, they receive a N10 rebate after loading and evacuating the product from the refinery.

The adjustment is not an official reduction but is seen as a covert price change, allowing Dangote’s customers and marketers to sell the product at a lower price range of N830 to N835 per litre, which undercuts the prices of importing marketers and private depot owners.

This move follows a series of price reductions last month, when the Dangote refinery reduced its ex-gantry price by N45 within a week, lowering it from N880 to N835 per litre.

This adjustment came after the restart of the Naira-for-Crude agreement with local refiners.

  • BREAKING: EFCC arrests the recently sacked managing directors and some top officials of the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries, discovering 80 billion in the account of one of the sacked MDs.

The officials were arrested over alleged mismanagement of funds earmarked for the rehabilitation of the refineries. The total amount under investigation is $2.9 billion

Findings by the PUNCH showed that the EFCC is probing the sum of $1.5 billion allocated to the Port Harcourt refinery, $740 million released for the Kaduna refinery, and $656 million approved for the Warri refinery.

The ex-Managing Director of Port Harcourt Refining Company Ltd is Mr Ibrahim Onoja, while Efifia Chu served as the ex-Managing Director of the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd.

Impeccable top management sources at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited also revealed that N80bn was found in the account of one of the sacked MDs.

On Friday, a senior EFCC source, who spoke with the PUNCH on the condition of anonymity due to the lack of authorisation to speak on the matter, revealed that the arrests of the three ex-MDs and top officials were part of an ongoing investigation into the billions of dollars released for the quick-fix maintenance of the three state-owned refineries.

“We are investigating the money that was released for the rehabilitation of all three refineries—money disbursed in recent times. All the principal officers within that time frame are being invited.

“Some have been arrested already, and we are still on the lookout for others. Nigerians are interested in seeing our refineries work. We are asking: where is the money, and what has happened to the refineries?” the official said.

A document obtained by the PUNCH on Friday from NNPCL, dated April 28, 2025, and titled, ‘Investigation Activities: Request for Information’, indicated that the probe by EFCC included the immediate past Group Chief Executive Officer of the national oil firm, Mele Kyari.

The EFCC document contained the names of 13 other former senior executives of the NNPCL under probe for misappropriation of funds.

*FULANI EXPANSION WAR, A FEDERAL GOVT PET*

Before his sudden, mysterious death, former Head of State, General Sani Abacha left us with an enduring, prophetic soundbite. He said: “If an insurgency lasts for more than 24 hours, then, know that government has a hand in it”. Way back on 8th May 2014, The Cable newspaper published a retweet of the late General’s daughter, Ms Gumsu Abacha, quoting exactly the same one-liner in response to Boko Haram “exploits”.

What would you say of the Fulani expansionism “insurgency” which has lasted 25 years? By “federal”, I do not necessarily mean the President Bola Tinubu administration, though it is also complicit as will be shown shortly. “Federal” here means the machinery of the Nigerian State, the ruling Establishment or dispensation, the power that be which produces and dictates to successive Federal Governments.

Since 1999, this power dispensing machine has produced five presidents – Olusegun Obasanjo, Umar Yar’ Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari and Tinubu, always making sure it does not fall into “wrong” hands. Only such mechanism could enact the magic of making Obasanjo president from jail, ensuring that no Northern candidate would stand against him. To the best of my knowledge, the Fulani wars of conquest started around 2001 in the Plateau area. Armed Fulani “herdsmen” were routinely massacring the indigenes to take over their fertile farmlands. The military, police, security and what have you, have failed to stop them despite several eye-service deployments.

But when the Tarokh people armed themselves and retaliated in May 2004, President Obasanjo declared a state of emergency and removed PDP Governor, Joshua Dariye, who was seen as encouraging his indigenous people to defend themselves. What did Dariye do later? He joined Muhammadu Buhari’s APC and helped the party capture the state in 2015. Buhari pardoned and released him from his 14-year jail conviction for stealing N2bn. Dariye could not beat them. He joined them, and was rewarded by Buhari himself, just as Adams Oshiomhole had promised all looters who join APC.

Lionhearted governors who were crushed became a lesson to others. Fight the State and pay for it; collude with the State against your people and be rewarded. When you see Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State running kitikiti-katakata to lick the toes of fellow governors from the North over the Uromi lynching, you know the fear the State exerts over occupants of powerful or lucrative positions.

When Buhari came to power in 2015, he saw himself as the Nigerian variant of Omar Al Bashir of Sudan, who armed Arab pastoralist militia, the Janjaweed, to conquer and annex the lands of black Sudanese, thus sparking the Darfur crises. Buhari was determined to make Nigeria the new home of his Fulani kinsmen from everywhere. He tried to enforce his Ruga, grazing routes, water resources and Livestock Plan policies throughout the country, but these were stiffly resisted. Buhari then threw open the borders for armed Fulani and their families, especially the nomads from everywhere, to relocate to Nigeria.

During the Covid-19 lockdowns, he and his powerful kinsmen used food and cement trailers and trucks to distribute armed Fulani youths in forests all over the Middle Belt and Southern states. It was clearly a well-organised operation aimed at forcefully grafting alien, violent Fulani elements among unwilling indigenous communities. They were camped in the forests where they killed people in their farms and harvested organs for sale. They kidnapped for ransom and used livestock to destroy farms. They flushed people out of their ancestral lands and occupied communities.

The Federal Government and its organs of security and coercion protected them from those seeking to defend themselves. They were promptly released when arrested by vigilante groups and handed over to the supposed law enforcement agencies. Government and (unfortunately, sections of the media) deceived the public, calling attacks on innocent Nigerian farming communities “farmers-herders clashes”. Government kept promising displaced people they would be restored to their ancestral lands but have now become permanent occupants of Internally-Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. The invaders are settling down and renaming conquered communities.

Federal Government refused to even acknowledge Fulani invaders as terrorists. Instead, they turned around to falsely slap that moniker on the Eastern Security Network (ESN) formed by the concerned diaspora Igbo through Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to defend Igboland.

When Tinubu mysteriously won the 2023 presidential election, I consoled myself that Buhari the Fulaniser was out and Tinubu, being a Southerner, would check the Fulanisation agenda. It has also been wreaking even more havoc in the South West, Tinubu’s home zone. But we were in for a shock. After initially arresting and detaining Bello Bodejo, the leader of the loquacious and violent Miyetti Allah Kyautal Hore, Tinubu quickly released him when the Fulani elite threatened him. He even went ahead to create Federal Ministry of Livestock to appease them, thus fully resuscitating Buhari’s Fulanisation agenda.

Tinubu holds on to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu even after releasing Fulani’s Bodejo and Sunday Igboho of Yoruba Nation. Under Tinubu, the cuddling of Fulani herdsmen terrorism continues unabated, and so do the endless barrages of meaningless condolence messages and empty promises. The entire landscape is filled with cowardly governors and political leaders who sell out their people for political power and lucrative posts. At this rate, the indigenous people of Nigeria are doomed.

Retired Lt-General Theophilus Danjuma warned before (and has just repeated the warning) that the Government is an enhancer of Fulani expansionism. “They collude”, he says. “They will not protect you! Arm and protect yourselves”. Danjuma, a hero of the Nigerian side of the civil war, has written off the armed forces he once served and led. Who are we to believe otherwise? Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB and ESN have once again been vindicated, even by Danjuma!

Self-defence is the first law of nature. The ball is in our court.

Fragile Agreements Can Not Stop Escalation In UkraineDespite the ongoing Russian and US efforts to deescalate the hostilities, the conflict in Ukraine is still marked by massive drone and missile attacks. The night of April 9, witnessed some of the most extensive cross-border strikes in recent months, with both sides reporting substantial interceptions and damages.According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian forces launched 158 aircraft-type UAVs across 11 regions. Russian air defenses reportedly intercepted and destroyed all of them, preventing any significant damage. The majority targeted the southern and western regions, as well as Crimea, along with maritime zones in the Azov and Black Seas. Notably, Ukrainian drones penetrated deep into Russian territory, for the first time reaching the Orenburg region – approximately 1,300 km from the frontline – where four UAVs were shot down. In Rostov region, Ukrainian drones reportedly targeted a power substation in Novocherkassk, which is another violation of moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure. On the other hand, Russian forces conducted another large-scale drone attack on Ukrainian territory, launching 55 Geran-type attack drones and decoys from multiple directions. Ukrainian air defense forces claimed success in intercepting 32 of the incoming drones, primarily in northern and eastern regions. The Russian strikes targeted military logistics and production facilities across several key locations. In Kharkiv, precision strikes hit a military base with storage sites containing medical supplies and field hospital equipment. The strikes were followed by an attack on the local ASAL confectionery factory – repurposed as a military logistics center in the war-torn city. The city of Dnipro came under simultaneous strikes on a logistics hub and the steel plant, where Western-supplied armored vehicles were undergoing repairs, resulting in major fires across the industrial complex. An aviation sports club turned into a military maintenance site was struck in Apostolovo, where two civilian aircraft and support vehicles were destroyed.A devastating strike destroyed a suspected Ukrainian Special Forces position hidden near the residential areas in Kramatorsk. These developments unfolded against the backdrop of a crumbling “energy truce”. Ukraine has consistently violated this agreement with daily strikes on Russian energy facilities. While the Russian military is probably preparing to take revenge after the end of the truce in ten days. The conflict shows no signs of de-escalation, revealing the fragility of temporary agreements with the Kiev regime. Amid the significant geopolitical shifts around the conflict, Moscow and Washington are set to meet again for negotiations on April 10, while the United States is officially curtailing its presence in Rzeszow, a key logistics hub for supplying Ukraine in Poland, coupled with plans to halve its military presence in Eastern Europe.https://southfront.press/fragile-agreements-can-not-stop-escalation/

🇺🇲 US Bombing Yemen Will Run Out of Ammunition to 'Contain China' - New York Times

The Pentagon spent about $200 million in ammunition in the first three weeks alone and is concerned about the volume of the ammunition.

The US will soon have to move long-range precision weapons from warehouses in the Asia-Pacific region to the Middle East, US congressmen say.

A few hours ago, the Russian military released unique footage of an emergency landing of a supersonic medium-range fighter-bomber Su-34. The presented footage clearly shows how, during a combat flight, the Su-34 lost its cockpit canopy at an altitude of 10 km. As a result, fuselage depressurization and a sharp pressure drop in the combat plane's cockpit occurred........................................................................

  • ADOKA COMMUNITY BURDEN BEARING: THE ACT OF A GENERATIONAL THINKER LEADER!

As that Adoka concerned, genuine, sincere, selfless and sacrificial burden bearer whose primary and major interest is to see to the community's overcoming the age long endemic water challenge confronting her since the days of our forefathers and till date.

This is one of those my solo/independent, painstaking, sincere, selfless and sacrificial Adoka community burden bearing adventure and journey into searching for a possible solution that will salvage that age long water challenge confronting her. And to eventually bring succour and relief to us all that are inhabitants and indigenes of the community inclusively.

As shown in the pictures below was a one full week geophysical survey searching for sustainable underground water for a possible borehole drilling and installation (being the first batch communities surveyed) carried out for me by JAGMORES SERVICES BOREHOLES in 9 communities of Adoka covering from:

    Opa community 1 spot
    Aiya community 1 spot
    Aune community 1 spot
    Centre community 3 spots
    Okpaflo community 1 spot
    Ogodumu community 1 spot
    Ipepe community 1 spot
    Olakpga community 1 spot
    Umogidi community 1 spot

This is a self sponsored project that cost me a huge sum of Seven Hundred And Fifty Thousand Naria (N750,000) only including a spot survey that cost Fifty Thousand Naria (N50,000) each and all the necessary logistics throughout the one week survey exercise carried out in those 9 Adoka communities with discovery of water at 11 spots two years ago. There is more efforts been put in place and on course to eventually execute the real project of drilling and installing the boreholes to serve and supply these respective Adoka communities portable drinking water. Thereby, putting an end to the age long water challenge confronting the communities by the grace of God

This selflessness and sacrifice was precipitated by my long burning passion, desire, advocacies and pursuit towards bringing a lasting and sustainable intervention to these long existing and neglected menace confronting my beloved homing community Adoka.

As a good, burdened and concerned citizen, I will not fold my hands to watch, wait and look only out for politicians or government to come and help which they may not come. So, I choose to take the bull by the horn and independently make this historic sacrifice by doing this foundational part trusting God to breath on it and see me to its fruition sustainably.

God helping us, this is a generational burden projected been courageously and purposefully taken upon my shoulder independently that will see great success and eventual completion going forward if Christ tarry to come.

Many thanks to the Och'Adoka Alegwu, The Adoka area traditional council,Rev. James Oyi Prof. Bishop, Barr. Sunday Ojama Oche Felix Williams O. Ofoine Frank Olokpo and many others and communities for standing solidly by me and also offering us water to drink throughout the one week field work. Including the woman at Aiya who roasted yam with palm oil for us to each while working in the field at Aiya community.

ADOKA IN NO DISTANT TIME BY THE MERCIES AND GRACE OF GOD MUST BE RELIEVED OF THIS UGLY AND DEADLY WATER CHALLENGE FACING HER OVER THE YEARS.
