This sky building included a tower, four giant cannons pointing towards the sea, a bunker, an ammunition depot and its famous prison. Until the 1970s, this island was a political prison, where many opponents were drowned.
The name '' Maonka '' is also a legacy of German colonization. Legend has it that the island was once called Malendè. during their colonial penetration of the installed German religious.
When Sister Monika died, her remains were reportedly buried not far from the current location of the brigade. It is therefore his memory that the German religious would have baptized this island in the name of "Monika".
