Veteran Yoruba actor, Dele Odule, has stirred public debate following his remarks on the controversial issue of s£x-for-roles in the Nigerian movie industry, saying it is not wrong for an actor to request a relationship from an actress in exchange for a movie role provided there is no coercion involved.

Odule made the statement during an interview on Oyinmomo TV’s official YouTube channel, where he offered a personal perspective on what has become a recurring concern in Nollywood.

“I don't agree that actors can ask actresses to have an affair with them before giving them movie roles because if such happens, it means the actress already has an interest in doing it,” he said.

The actor, known for his decades-long contributions to the Yoruba film industry, clarified that in any normal society where men and women interact, romantic or sexual advances are bound to happen. According to him, what matters is mutual consent.

“In a society where there are men and women, it is normal that they will approach each other for relationships, but it has to come with mutual agreement between a man and a woman because a woman always has the choice to agree or disagree,” he stated.

Odule emphasized that it only becomes a legal or moral issue when force is applied, noting that coercion or exploitation is punishable under the law.

“Nothing wrong if an actor wants s£x from an actress for movie roles so far he doesn't force her. It only becomes illegal when force is applied, which is punishable under law.”

His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians accusing the actor of normalizing exploitation in the industry, while others argue that his comments simply reflect the reality of adult relationships and consent.

“Wizkid was the first Afrobeats I came across for a collaboration to come to the spotlight in the Entertainment Industry but unfortunately Wizkid let me down because I was an uprising artist in another Afrobeats Market although I was a famous artist in Liberia already.

Between 2022/2023, I had an opportunity to visit Wizkid at his mansion in Ghana through the help of my manager & Wizkid's girlfriend ‘Jada P”.

While awaiting Wizkid in the living room to engage him with the plan having a collaboration with him.

As soon as Wizkid stepped out of the room thinking that he was going to recognize me to have a fruitful meeting.

Surprisingly, Wizkid went out of his room without even resting his body in the living room, stepped out, and straightened into his car without having a concern or second thought that people came to see him.

I spent 6 hours at Wizkid Mansion patiently waiting, but he didn't return in time till my manager and I took our exit.

THE PARROT WHO COULDN'T KEEP A SECRET

Once upon a time in the bustling jungle of Jabula, there lived a parrot named Kiki. With feathers like a rainbow and a voice as clear as a bell, Kiki was the most charming creature in the trees. All the animals loved talking to her because she was always willing to listen—and oh, did she listen well.

Kiki quickly became the jungle’s unofficial confidant. The lion told her about his fear of water. The monkey whispered that he was stealing bananas from the elder’s tree. The snake confessed that he was in love with a bird from a rival jungle. All these secrets, heavy and sacred, were placed into Kiki's colorful care.

But Kiki had one problem: she loved to talk.
