• #c12• I was in class that fateful Friday afternoon teaching my students when she raised her hand to ask a question.

I permitted her and she asked a rather too simple question that I supposed she should know the answer.

I had already covered that topic the previous week. "Will you sit down there! With your Ugly face! Olodo!" was the only answer I gave her.

The whole class bursted into laughter and she looked embarrassed.

I went on with my lesson but felt somewhat guilty over what I had said. I finished my class and left. On Sunday, I went to Church. The preacher was talking about the tongue and its power.
He spoke about how you could bring others down by what you say.

I remembered what happened on Friday and became guilty. I swore I was going to apologize to her on Monday when I got to the class.

On Monday afternoon, I went to the class but I didn't see her. I asked after her from her coursemates but they didn't seem to know who I was talking about.

I then said I was looking for the person I insulted on Friday. "Oh, that's Joy Sir! She is not in class today" they answered.
Who is her friend? I asked. "Aisha" they chorused. But Aisha was not in the class either.

Suddenly, a girl with Hijab walked in. "That's Aisha Sir" my students informed me.
Where is your friend? I asked her. "Which one?" She replied without looking at my face. Joy! I said.

The reply shocked me! She is in the mortuary Sir. Mortuary????? Doing what there?? I asked "She died on Friday Sir" Aisha replied.

How come?????? I later found out that after my class on Friday, Joy was hit by a fast moving vehicle.
She was crossing the road absentmindedly probably because of what I said.
"Her burial is on Saturday and you are invited Sir" Aisha continued.

As I stood trying to overcome the shock, Aisha said within tears, "you killed my friend Sir".
She was right! I should be the murderer!
Some girls in the class were already crying! I didn't know what to say, whether to apologize to Joy's friend or Joy's ghost.
I submitted my resignation letter the next day.
Dear Lecturers and Teachers, please stop insulting your student.

They are in school to learn from you. If they already know, they won't be in school!
Please mind what you say to other people. Are your words bringing life or death to the hearers?

  • LAW AND ORDER

Boundaries are created by law and order they are synonymous with each other and what the whole earth is founded on from the laws of gravity the oceans and the dry grounds separated from each other the physical expanse of the atmosphere and water environments that contain lifeforms that need specific temperatures to thrive such as the polar bear and even fruits and vegetables will only grow in soil in the right temperature they are even only matured in the season set for them which is guided by time. A baby cannot be produced unless two material mater of egg and sperm meet a foal takes three years to form from inception.

Without fixed laws guarding the success of all these facets of life within time and space it would not produce the desired result needed for each environment. We can not climb 60 thousand feet on foot and survive as that is the natural law that oxygen is not as accessible this far from the earth. If we ate something that is not fit for human consumption but was designed for another purpose such as a solvent that removes paint we would surely die if we did not have oxygen to be viable on this planet the body could not survive but after that the sprit goes back to where it started from to god which is another environment that even has a new set of laws that we have access to the throne room of grace by the blood of Jesus which is a primary law of salvation of acceptance of him and all he has done by making him lord and savior of our life while we are still in the flesh we become born again.

Its activating faith which is completely separate from doubt it has boundaries. Even love is defined by what it is not it is not self seeking its binary opposite is selflessness it does not behave rudely that means love is polite it does not rejoice in iniquity but rejoices in the truth its like defining black from white. The road rules that create law and order make it functional that keeps pedestrians and drivers of vehicles safe by the law of give way that is written into the consciousness of every citizen by ensuring they have qualified by passing the test that gave them legal permission to drive on the roads. The laws of marriage that one husband shall be faithful to one wife is foundational to trust and make marriages successful. Oil cannot mix with water because the substance will not permit it to make purple you must have red and blue pigment. Even property laws that determine the boundaries of ownership and what is expected of you is written in legal terms those laws are ideas that have created boundaries.

The amount of tax you pay is relevant to what you earn and redistribution of taxes is set by the politics of the lands that determine the allocation of resources which is dependent on who is governing that has that legal authority even the kingdom of heaven had to obey certain laws for legal requirements to win back the right to have access on the earth and human life . Yet all the law and the prophets is fulfilled by love yet love itself has boundaries by defining what love is and what love is not if the formular is exact love never fails. We have so many problems on this earth and if we got down to the root of every violation of boundaries we will find that it is always going against the law of love. This is why we should always spend time meditating on the meaning of all the dimensions of love and to inculcate them into our patterns. It is a way of thinking and living but love has boundaries by its definitions think of how god fashioned the earth he focused on different parts of its creation by separating he made something new that is a principle for life by the laws we apply to every facet of life determines how we shape life.

Just as the ocean does not go onto dry land is like the boundaries we set love does not give access to everything it is defined by the law of difference God gave Adam and eve instruction he said till the land and keep it rebellion to that instruction would create disorder because principles of truth bring order he said do not eat of the fruit they ate in their heart before they ate physically because they were dominated by an outside thing. Our no and our yes must be firm to keep the land of our life that is what creates law and order is boundaries. If the stop sign is determined for the ocean so is our no stopping what must not have access and our yes gives permission by the agreements we make. We are sovereign when we walk in freedom according to boundaries truth has boundaries you do not open the door to a lion because you know it is dangerous this is why truth is foundational for life . Truth is multifaceted by defining what truth is we define what it is not truth and love are synonyms just as law and order are the same as boundaries.

That is why we can point to the stars and differentiate them from the night sky or the day because we can see physically what it is and what it is not. But just as a diamond glistens multiple colors when it catches different lights yet it is one though we see colors of different appearances as it is turned is like the truth it is not just black and white except all the colour of the light are absent of black. Your eyes do not get oxygen from your body but from the atmosphere because the eyes are the part of the body that does not have blood vessels otherwise we couldn’t see it would interfere with the retina that is another biological law that create functionality of an eye . If those laws were not set in place we would not have vision . The deeper we go with everything we research we will find that its functionality comes by law and order so truth has boundaries the law of love is the greatest of all. Love never fails.

  • *A KIDNAPPING DEN*

One day while John was driving his car on a dilapidated road to his village in Enugu, four men with guns came out from the bush and shouted at him to stop. John quickly obeyed them and held up his hands at gunpoint.

They took him into a solitary place in the forest, where there were wild animals and lizards; where flies were buzzing, birds and butterflies fluttering in the air. The five men trekked in the forest for two hours. John's left sandal got cut from long walk.

Then a tall black man appeared to meet them; he was the leader of the kidnappers. His men handed John over to him and went away. John stayed in their den for eight days and nights without water or food.

The amount the kidnappers demanded for John's release was 50m naira. The negotiation was still going on when the mask their boss wore mistakenly fell out. John saw his face, recognized him and called his name! Both of them stared fixedly at each other. The man was juniour staff, who worked under John in a finance office before he retired from government service!

"What're you doing here, sir?" the leader of the kidnappers asked John in surprise.

"I'm from this place," John replied.

"Oh no! You don't mean it! Your people are very wicked!" the man exclaimed.

The leader of the gang was a Boko Haram member from Kogi State. He was hired for the business by John's younger cousin whom he trained in the university.

"Do you know this name . . . ?" The kidnapper mentioned the name of John's cousin and showed him his phone number. Both of them had the same surname.

The kidnapper dropped his AK47 on the ground, knelt down before John and promised that nobody would harm him. He took John's phone, searched through it and saw a video showing where some Boko Haram men were punishing their victims.

"From where did you get this video?" He asked John.

"I got it from my WhatsApp group," he replied.

"Look at me in the video. I was with my colleagues in Katsina forest, carrying out an operation there. Please, sir, I'll take this your phone."

    John said, "Okay."

"Your brother asked us to collect 50m naira from you. If you refuse to pay it, we should kill you. But, as long as I'm concerned, nothing will happen to you. I remember how good you were to me, Oga. Will you be able to get 5m naira?" He asked.

John promised that he would try.

The kidnapper then gave John his phone and asked him to call his people to gather the 5m naira immediately. That was on the ninth day John was with the kidnappers in the forest.

Much later on, the 5m naira was brought to the kidnappers. They handed it over to their boss. The latter collected John's mobile phone, with the _SIM cards_ inside it, and said his farewells and left.

John walked quickly away and entered the vehicle that was used to bring the money. He was carried home to meet his people who had gathered to welcome him.

    QUESTIONS:
*°* Who was the person that planned and arranged for John's kidnap?
*°* Who was the person that saved John's life?
*°* Explain why John was not killed.

_I leave you to answer the questions._

  • In 2017, a conspiracy theory that Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari had died in a London hospital and was replaced with a body double called ‘Jubril’ from Sudan surfaced in popular discourse. This occurred after Buhari had spent three months undergoing medical treatment in London for an undisclosed illness. The President’s location outside of Nigeria, in the country that was its former colonizer, gave shape to different versions of the conspiracy theory, with suggestions that British Nigerian political elites were behind the replacement of the President and were hiding his alleged death.
Anxieties around the President were initially provoked by a tweet on 19 May 2017, in which Eric Joyce, a British politician, tweeted that the President was dead. President Buhari had last been seen in public two weeks earlier. Eric Joyce’s tweet triggered Nigerians who were looking to escape a repeat of the power vacuum that had been experienced in the country after the death of a previous sitting president, Umaru Yar’Adua, who died in similar and somewhat mysterious circumstances in 2010.
Narratives that the president was a clone emerged in public discourse following President Buhari's public reappearance and return to Nigeria from the UK in August 2017. The first identified online appearance of the clone conspiracy theory was a YouTube video created by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a secessionist group in southeastern Nigeria, in September 2017. The group had been seizing opportunities during election windows to insert itself into broader political debates by whipping up regional sentiments of marginalization and political apathy. It had used a range of mainstream and social media channels to call the attention of the international community to its agitations and the illegal detention/trial of its leader. The body double conspiracy theory was picked up in the Nigerian media and widely spread through different forms of popular communication in Nigeria, resulting in Buhari publicly acknowledging and confronting the conspiracy theory. On 2 December 2018, Buhari insisted during an event in Poland, ‘It’s [the] real me, I assure you.’ The IPOB leader responded, tweeting:
If Buhari is not dead and replaced by Jubril from Sudan, why won't the Nigerian government sue Eric Joyce, a former British lawmaker, for peddling lies? They can’t because they know I am speaking the truth. @AsoRock @ericjoyce @NGRPresident @UKParliament @NGRSenate @WhiteHouse t.co/qqrKHPmtNy
In this article, this conspiracy theory that President Buhari was a clone is addressed as an opportunity to question the superficial confidence with which conspiracy theories have been dismissed as aberrations and negative externalities of digital ecosystems and their supporters as threats to an ostensibly deliberative public sphere. While not pitched in defense of conspiracy theories, it seeks to examine them without the comfortable protection of post-enlightenment normativity and to remind us how injunctions to ‘speak civilly’ or ‘think rationally’ tend to reproduce tropes from a colonial past, dismissing or erasing other forms of knowledge/reasoning used to make sense of the world to speak to power.

The arguments and analyses we advance here are closely related to those we presented in a previous article (Gagliardone et al.,
    Citation
2021), where we empirically illustrated how this explorative, rather than normative, approach allows us to grasp how individuals do not simply fall for, embrace, or support a conspiracy theory but can ‘do’ specific and distinct things with/through them. In that article, we comparatively analyzed how conspiracy theories circulating at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic were seized by some Nigerian users and politicians as opportunities to criticize the ruling party, while in South Africa the same conspiracy theories became a vehicle to voice deep-rooted resentment towards the West and corporate interests.

  • At a mechanic’s workshop, I noticed a particular car that had been parked there for nearly four years. It was quite expensive and still looked in good shape the first time I saw it. But with time, it began to deteriorate. One of the windows got broken, the tyres deflated and wore out completely, and rust slowly crept over what was once a beautiful machine.

Curious, I asked the mechanic why such an expensive vehicle had been left to rot.

He confirmed that the car had indeed been in perfect condition when I first saw it. But even he had become helpless as to what to do. The vehicle belonged to someone from the Republic of Tchad. The man’s driver had been the one bringing it into Nigeria for repairs. On that last occasion, the driver dropped it off, paid for the repairs, and returned to Tchad, saying he would come back to collect the car once the required part being sourced from Lagos was fixed.

The mechanic bought the part, fixed the car, and waited. He had already been paid. But the driver never came back. It turned out he had been on his way to pick up the car when he was attacked by insurgents and killed. The mechanic didn’t know much about him, only his name, and had no idea where exactly in Tchad he was from. So the car remained there, abandoned. The owner likely has no idea where it is or how to recover it.

At a certain car wash, there was another case. Another expensive vehicle. This one had been brought in by a customer who patronised them occasionally. They didn’t know much about him either. He lived in another city but always came for business, and each time, he brought the car to be washed.

On his last visit, he dropped it off as usual and said he was going into town and would return later that evening. He never did. That was three years ago. Still, no sign of him. The car wash owner continues to wash and maintain the vehicle daily, keeping it spotless. But no one has come for it. They didn’t even know his name, and a search of the vehicle turned up no documents that could trace it to anyone. So, it remains abandoned.

Just last week, a friend of mine died after a brief illness. Before falling sick, he had taken some clothes to the laundry. He never returned to collect them. Thankfully, the laundryman knew his family and brought the clothes to his wife last night. She had no idea he had even taken anything to be laundered.

These situations made me think deeply.

Do our families and friends know the people we deal with, our mechanics, our laundrymen, or the businesses we patronise? Do we tell them about the errands we run or the transactions we make? Or do we go about our lives with no one aware of the little details that might matter in the end?

    Shouldn’t someone at least know?

One day, you will take your car to the mechanic but you will not be the one to bring it back.
Your clothes will be at the laundry but you will not return to pick them up.
Do you have some pieces or parcels of land? Does your family know about them?
Do you have house or houses any where? Does your family know about it or them?
    How many banks do you
    have accounts in?
Does your family know about all of them?

Sometimes, the things you worked hard for, the things you loved and valued, will be left lying somewhere, useless and out of reach, because no one knew where you kept them or how to find them. That should be enough to give one the creeps and make one think deeply. Today, tomorrow, it shall come for you.

    One day......

At a mechanic’s workshop, I noticed a particular car that had been parked there for nearly four years. • GPS and the Geopolitics of Navigation: How It Works, Why It Matters, and What Happens When It’s Disrupted

In an era when smartphones, aircraft, ships, and even missiles rely on satellite guidance, the Global Positioning System (GPS) has become the invisible backbone of modern civilization. From helping commuters find the fastest route to enabling precision-guided weapons, GPS underpins both daily life and national security. But this critical system also lies at the heart of 21st-century power struggles—most notably among the United States, China, and regional players such as Iran.

This article explores how GPS functions, why it is indispensable, what happens when it is disrupted, and how China’s BeiDou system is challenging U.S. dominance in space-based navigation.

    ---

    1️⃣ What Is GPS?

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based radio navigation system owned and operated by the United States Department of Defense. Though originally conceived to support military operations, GPS has been made freely available for civilian use worldwide.

    GPS enables three essential capabilities:

Positioning: Determining a user’s location anywhere on Earth
Navigation: Guiding movement from one place to another
Timing: Providing precise atomic-clock-based time signals for critical infrastructure

    ---

    2️⃣ How GPS Works

GPS relies on a constellation of at least 24 satellites orbiting approximately 20,000 km (12,500 miles) above the Earth. Here is a step-by-step breakdown:

1️⃣ Satellites constantly broadcast signals, each containing:

A precise timestamp from an onboard atomic clock

The satellite’s current position in orbit

2️⃣ A GPS receiver (in your phone, ship, or drone) picks up signals from at least four satellites.

3️⃣ The receiver calculates how long each signal took to arrive by comparing the broadcast time to the time the signal was received.

4️⃣ Because radio waves travel at the speed of light, this delay reveals the distance to each satellite.

5️⃣ Using triangulation, the receiver determines its exact position in three dimensions (latitude, longitude, altitude).

6️⃣ The receiver also synchronizes with GPS time, which is critical for:

    Telecom networks

    Financial transactions

    Power grid management

This infrastructure is remarkably precise, offering civilian accuracy within 5–10 meters and military-grade accuracy to centimeters.

    ---

3️⃣ Why GPS Is Critically Important

GPS has become so pervasive that its loss would cripple countless sectors:

    Military Uses

    Precision-guided bombs and cruise missiles

    Real-time troop and vehicle navigation

    Drone reconnaissance and targeting

    Civilian Uses

    Air and maritime safety

    Emergency response dispatching

    Everyday apps (ride-hailing, delivery)

    Banking and stock market timestamping

    Power grid synchronization

Economic Impact In the U.S. alone, GPS supports over $1 trillion in economic value each year.

    ---

4️⃣ What Happens When GPS Is Disrupted?

Although the U.S. controls GPS globally, regional actors can jam or spoof its signals:

Jamming: Transmitting noise on GPS frequencies to overwhelm legitimate signals, rendering receivers unable to calculate position.

Spoofing: Broadcasting counterfeit GPS signals that appear authentic, tricking receivers into showing false locations or times.

Iran is among the countries known to use such tactics. For example:

In 2011, Iran claimed it spoofed a U.S. RQ-170 Sentinel stealth drone’s GPS, causing it to land intact.

Iran has repeatedly jammed commercial ship navigation in the Persian Gulf.

Implications of Local GPS Disruption by Iran:

    1. Civilian Aviation: Airliners lose navigational aids, raising accident risks.

    2. Shipping: Tankers and cargo vessels drift off course, risking collisions or territorial violations.

    3. Military Operations: Drones and guided munitions may fail to reach their targets.

    4. Emergency Services: Rescuers may struggle to locate distress signals.

    5. Economic Disruption: Telecom networks relying on GPS time can be destabilized.

Such disruption not only endangers safety but also increases the likelihood of unintended escalation with regional or global powers.

    ---

5️⃣ China’s BeiDou: An Independent Navigation System

As dependence on GPS has grown, so has the strategic incentive for major powers to develop alternatives. China’s answer is BeiDou.

    BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS):

    Development began in the 1990s.

    Achieved global coverage in 2020.

Over 30 satellites in medium Earth orbit, geosynchronous orbit, and inclined orbits.

Provides positioning, navigation, and timing worldwide.

Offers regional high-precision services in Asia-Pacific.

    Strategic Importance of BeiDou:

Enables Chinese military forces to operate independently of U.S. GPS.

Supports precision targeting for Chinese weapons.

Enhances national resilience against GPS denial.

Offers civilian applications to countries in the Belt and Road Initiative, building geopolitical influence.

    ---

6️⃣ How Does BeiDou Compare to Other Systems?

Below is a quick reference table of major satellite navigation systems:

System Country / Operator Coverage Status

GPS United States Global Fully Operational
    GLONASS Russia Global Fully Operational
Galileo European Union Global Operational (improving)
    BeiDou China Global Fully Operational
    QZSS Japan (regional) Asia-Pacific Operational

Each system can serve as a backup or alternative to the others—a reflection of rising multipolar competition in space infrastructure.

    ---

    7️⃣ Bottom Line

GPS is the world’s primary navigation system, indispensable to military power and civilian life.

Iran cannot shut down GPS globally, but it can jam or spoof signals regionally—creating significant hazards and complicating military operations.

China’s BeiDou system represents the most advanced and strategically significant alternative, allowing Beijing to reduce dependence on American satellites and extend its technological sphere of influence.

The proliferation of independent navigation constellations highlights a new era of competition, in which the control and denial of satellite services will be a defining feature of geopolitical power.
