• The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
    INSPIRATION:
Do you ever think that if you become rich, all of your problems would go away? From today’s verse, we learn that wealth brings its own set of anxieties. Fear of theft and loss can rob a rich person of sleep and peace. But the one who is sustained with daily bread from the Lord rests in comfort, knowing that God meets all of his needs.
    PRAYER:
Gracious God, each day You sustain me and my family. Thank You for Your provision, which is always enough. I take comfort in Your faithfulness, and it is with gratitude that I take shelter in the shadow of Your wing. Grow me in contentment, so that You and Your grace may always be sufficient for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  • Vanessa and the Blesser with a Potbelly

In the heart of Soweto, drama was loading like WiFi on Eskom power-saver mode.

Mark, the neighborhood slay king, stood by the wall chewing matchstick like he owned Johannesburg. He spotted Vanessa, his long-time crush, walking proudly with a man who looked like he just escaped from a sugar factory stomach out, head shiny, and wearing a belt that was clearly hanging on for dear life.

Vanessa, Mark shouted. So you dumped me for this sugarloaf of a man just because he’s rich, eeh

Vanessa didn’t even flinch. She flipped her wig back and said,
Hey Mark, let me tell you. He’s not just rich. He’s also sexy, handsome, and humble. Something you can never spell, even with autocorrect

The potbellied man, clearly enjoying the drama, hugged Vanessa tighter and whispered,
Babe, please stop insulting me,my ego is still shaking

Mark stood there frozen like expired polony.

The street kids laughed, an old gogo passing by shouted Yoh This generation will humble you and one taxi driver even hooted in support.

In South Africa, even if you have six-packs, a BMW mind, and a TikTok account,if you’re broke, love will still pass you like a minibus with no brakeVanessa and the Blesser with a Potbelly

  • I WAS ERASED BY MY OWN SISTER
    PART 2
Nneka and Ngozi were no longer the teenage girls who once shared a cramped bedroom. Time had shaped them into stunning, elegant women—both beautiful on the outside, but worlds apart where it truly mattered.
Nneka had blossomed into everything their parents had ever dreamed of. She graduated top of her class at the University of Lagos, earning a first-class degree in Business Administration. By twenty-five, she was already a rising star at a top financial firm, managing high-profile clients with ease.
    But Nneka didn’t stop there.
Determined to build her own legacy, she launched a luxury skincare line, "Naturé by Nneka," using organic African ingredients. Within a year, her products were stocked in high-end boutiques across Lagos, and her face graced the covers of business magazines.
Yet, despite her success, Nneka remained kind. Humble. Generous.
She never forgot her family, sending money home every month and even paying for her parents’ new house. And whenever Ngozi called—always with a crisis—Nneka answered without hesitation.
    "Sis, my rent is due…"
"Nneka, I lost my job again…"
    "Please, just this one time…"
    Every. Single. Time. Nneka helped.
    Because that’s what sisters did.
Ngozi, on the other hand, had taken a different path.
She dropped out of university after two years, blaming "unfair lecturers" and a "toxic environment." She jumped from one job to another—each time getting fired for laziness, tardiness, or attitude.
But in Ngozi’s mind, it was never her fault.
    "They just don’t appreciate me."
    "Nneka is lucky, that’s all."
"If I had her opportunities, I’d be even better."
The truth? Ngozi didn’t want to work. She wanted wealth, fame, and admiration—*lwithout the effort.
And every time she saw Nneka’s name in the news, every time she heard their parents brag about her, every time a man’s eyes lingered a little too long on her sister—something inside Ngozi twisted deeper.
The jealousy was no longer a spark.
    It was a wildfire.
Ngozi had learned to hide her hatred well.
She smiled when Nneka visited, hugging her tightly like the loving sister she pretended to be. She laughed at Nneka’s jokes, complimented her outfits, and even helped distribute samples of *Naturé by Nneka* to her friends.
But behind that dazzling smile, the truth festered.
"Why her?"* Ngozi would seethe in private. "Why does she get everything?"
She watched as men fell over themselves to impress Nneka. Watched as her sister’s business grew. Watched as their parents’ eyes lit up the moment Nneka walked into the room.
And with each passing day, Ngozi’s envy grew teeth.
One evening, Ngozi sat scrolling through Instagram when a post stopped her cold.
It was Nneka—glowing in a sleek red dress, standing beside a handsome, wealthy businessman, "Emeka Okoye". The caption read:
"He asked… and I said YES!"
    Ngozi’s blood turned to ice.
Emeka Okoye wasn’t just any man. He was one of Lagos’ most eligible bachelors—young, rich, and powerful. And now… he belonged to Nneka.
Ngozi’s hands shook as she zoomed in on the diamond ring on her sister’s finger. A ring she should have been wearing. A life she should have been living.
That night, as she lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, an idea began to form.
    A dark, dangerous idea.
    Because if she couldn’t have Nneka’s life…
    Maybe she could take it.
    To Be Continued…)

  • If Obi Cubana decides to sell one bottle of his odogwu bitters today at N10million Chief Priest, E-Money, Enviable, Davido etc will patronise him, not because it's the cheapest or the highest in quality.

If Obi Cubana is in Owerri today, or have someone he needs to book accommodation for in Owerri, he will look out for Cubana hotels, even if there are other more affordable ones, he will patronise his friend and brother.

Then tomorrow when Obi Cubana has an occasion, you will see these guys with gifts, and cash to celebrate themselves, and you will be wondering why? Some would say it's blood money blabalabla.

But you, because of a difference of N500 in the price, you would leave your friend and patronise a stranger and then when you have a problem you leave the stranger and run to your friends.
When you have a wedding, you invite your friends and expect them to come and do like Obi Cubana's friends.

What is the colour of your problem?

You are building your house, you have a carpenter as a friend, another one is a painter, the other one sells cement; etc you will abandon them, go and patronise strangers, then on the occasion of the opening of the house, you expect them to come and launch it for you, and if they don't show up, you become offended; are you being serious now?

Some friends will not patronise you, even if you sell long life and prosperity. Most of their fears is so that you don't become as rich as they are or even richer than them, as they are always in competition with everyone around them.

Change today. If something bad happens to you today, it's still family and friends who would come, start today to patronise your friends, help them grow their business, so that if you park your car, your friends will park theirs too.

A POOR NEIGHBOUR IS A DANGEROUS NEIGHBOUR.

    Written by Ifeanyi Benson.

Mine is also to add don't reap off your friends because they want to patronize you.

    DATE: THURSDAY 20TH JUNE 2025

    THEME: *WORTHLESS ADDICTIONS*

    MEMORIZE
    Luke 4:4
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

    READ
    Luke 4:1-15
And Jesus, being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days, he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

    THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
*Behind every addictions are evil spirits sent by Satan to destroy human lives systematically.*

    MESSAGE
Today's passage is often used to talk about the temptations and trials of our Lord in the wilderness. But a quick flip reveals Satan's subtle targets behind all his attractive offers...

One of Satan's hidden targets using temptations is to introduce his targeted victims into a life of worthless addictions. And thereafter keep them in the bondage that will either make them to function below their destiny benchmark or weaken their souls with the purpose of rendering them unfit for their assignments in life; and in worse case scenario, lead them to believe that they need stuffs to survive until they are eventually destroyed.

Addictions are not just mere habits that people indulge themselves in. *Behind every addictions are evil spirits sent by Satan to destroy human lives strategically and systematically by keeping them in a perpetual bondage.*

These evil spirits get into their gullible victims through seemingly harmless things like foods and drinks, including other legitimate rights.

There are people who are addicted to simple things like coffee. They are strangely addicted to an early morning cup of coffee until it becomes a traditional bondage.

In today's text, the Lord Jesus Christ told Satan, the tempter that man was not created to live by bread alone.

That means man was not to live a life that is dependent solely on bread.

There are people who are addicted to food and cannot stay off of food.

The only benefit of food is to supply the strength required to pursue purpose. Sadly, many people live to eat, instead of eating to live.

Satan wants us to be distracted from pursuing purpose to seeking bodily pleasures.

*To live only for bread is a worthless addictive living, but when your life is powered by a definite word from God, then you become a person of rich economy to heaven on earth.*

Bread is generically and allegorically used to illustrate everything that men rely upon to live.

Others are addicted to alcohol. Alcohol is a highly demonic substance; it is a portal for demons to enter the body of those who indulge themselves with it. Alcohol actually means a "body eating spirit;" that is why it is called "spirit."

According to the scriptures, it bites its victims.
Proverbs 23:31-32 "Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
At the last, it biteth like a serpent and stingeth like an adder."

Beloved, avoid worthless addictions today and prioritise your life and destiny around God and His purpose for your life.

Never allow anything to gain control over your life, but rather exercise self-control over everything.

Do not lose self-control to anything except the LORD through the Holy Spirit.

    Shalom.

    ACTION STEPS
    1. Prayerfully meditate on today's devotional guide again.
    2. Submit your life deliberately to the Holy Spirit for absolute control.
    3. Be determined to avoid every worthless addiction in your life.

    REMEMBER
*Behind every addictions are evil spirits sent by Satan to destroy human lives systematically.*

    PRAYERS
Dear heavenly Father, Thank you for today's devotional guide. I receive grace to live in absolute submission to your Holy Spirit according to the scriptures in truth and in spirit in Jesus name. Amen.

    DAILY READING
    Daniel 1-2; Proverbs 20-23; Luke 15-16;

    HYMN
    1
Take my life, and let it be
    Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

    2
Take my hands, and let them move
    At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet, and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for Thee.

    3
Take my voice, and let me sing
    Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee.

    4
    Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold:
    Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

    5
    Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine:
Take my heart—it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

    6
Take my love: my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store:
Take myself; and I will be
    Ever, only, all for Thee.

AUTHOR: JEDIDIAH DAVID DAILY READING Daniel 1-2; Proverbs 20-23; Luke 15-16; HYMN 1 Take my life, and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee; Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in ceaseless praise. 2 Take my hands, and let them move At the impulse of Thy love; Take my feet, and let them be Swift and beautiful for Thee. 3 Take my voice, and let me sing Always, only, for my King; Take my lips, and let them be Filled with messages from Thee. 4 Take my silver and my gold; Not a mite would I withhold: Take my intellect, and use Every power as Thou shalt choose. 5 Take my will, and make it Thine; It shall be no longer mine: Take my heart—it is Thine own, It shall be Thy royal throne. 6 Take my love: my Lord, I pour At Thy feet its treasure store: Take myself; and I will be Ever, only, all for Thee.
