  • “I adore DON JAZZY Honestly, I do — there’s no one like him. But when I heard him say he can’t be sexu@lly committed to just one woman, I couldn’t keep quiet.

For me, it all comes down to the kind of women our men choose. A lot of men in Nigeria, let’s be real, don’t d@te for substance. They date for what they see — hips, waist, face — all the packaging. Then later, they’re bored or tempted by the next “better package” because they didn’t choose what really matters: the mind, the substance, the values.

If I get to sit with Don Jazzy today, I’ll tell him straight: Try a different type of woman. Try dating for depth, not just phys!que. You might just find the commitment you think you can’t handle.

Sometimes we need to stop blaming our “nature” and start checking our choices.

Love you all — and Don Baba J, if you see this, no vex oh! It’s all love from Uriel. “ —BBNAIJA Star URIEL OPUTA

  • Malawians expressed their disappointment with Patricia Jiya Okafor, mother of Chioma Okafor, for allowing her daughter to play for Nigeria instead of Malawi. However, Patricia told bolanews.co the decision was solely Chioma’s.

“It’s not me; it was her choice. Nigeria wrote a letter; I didn’t have any say; it was her choice. I told her to choose so that she would not regret it in the future, so it came from her.”

Chioma was born in Malawi to a Malawian mother and a Nigerian father. She began her football career in Malawi and trained with the Malawi national team in 2015 but never featured for the Scorchers.

In February, she shared a video clarifying in Chichewa language that she is Malawian after some fans questioned her nationality because of her name.

    SS MARTHA, MARY & LAZARUS

    (MEMORIAL)

    Office: Memorial, Psalter week 1

Mass and preface of the Memorial

    Vestment: White

    Today’s Rosary: The Sorrowful Mystery

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON Cf. Lk 10: 38

Jesus entered a village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.

    COLLECT

Almighty ever-living God, whose Son was pleased to be welcomed in Saint Martha’s house as a guest, grant, we pray, that through her intercession, serving Christ faithfully in our brothers and sisters, we may merit to be received by you in the halls of heaven. Through our Lord Jesus Christ…..

    -FIRST READING-

The Lord spoke to Moses face to face.

A reading from the Book of Exodus (Exodus 33:7-11:34:5b-9.28)

In those days: Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp; and he called it the tent of meeting. And every one who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp. Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose up, and every man stood at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he had gone into the tent. When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the door of the tent, and the Lord would speak with Moses. And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the door of the tent, all the people would rise up and worship, every man at his tent door. Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tent. And Moses proclaimed the name of the Lord. The Lord passed before him, and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy and faithfulness, keeping merciful love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.” And Moses made haste to bow his head towards the earth, and worshipped. And he said, “If now I have found favour in your sight, O Lord, let the Lord, I beg you, go in the midst of us, although it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.” And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.

    The word of the Lord.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 103:6-7.8-9.10-11.12-13 (R. 8a)

R/. The Lord is compassionate and gracious.

    The Lord does just deeds,
Gives full justice to all who are oppressed.
He made known his ways to Moses,
And his deeds to the children of Israel. R/.

The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and rich in mercy.
    He will not always find fault;
Nor persist in his anger forever. R/.

R/. The Lord is compassionate and gracious.

He does not treat us according to our sins,
Nor repay us according to our faults.
For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So strong his mercy for those who fear him. R/.

As far as the east is from the west,
So far from us does he remove our transgressions.
As a father has compassion on his children,
The Lord’s compassion is on those who fear him. R/.

    ALLELUIA

Alleluia. The seed is the word of God, and the sower is Christ; all who find him will abide forever. Alleluia.

    -GOSPEL

A Reading from the holy Gospel according from John (John 11:19-27)

At that time: many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, while Mary sat in the house. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. And even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this? She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who is coming into the world.”

    The Gospel of the Lord.

    TODAY'S REFLECTION

The kingdom of God is at hand. The message of the coming of the kingdom of God bears some sense of urgency. But Jesus never forces anyone to accept the message. He speaks the message and allows it to take root in people, each according to the size of his/her faith. Thus, at the end of the message, he says, ‘Whoever has ears, let them hear’. God created us freely and bestows on us freedom that he doesn’t tamper with. What this means is that we will be judged according to the law of freedom. In a world that is filled with so much noise, are we able to hear the message?

    PERSONAL DEVOTIONAL

Begin by making a redeemable vow to God. Do it with thanksgiving in your heart. Praise and worship him whole-heartedly.

Father, forgive me, in any way or in any form I may have brought barrenness upon my life and marriage, and heal me, in the name of Jesus.

Eternal God, I come before you today to receive the power to be fruitful in the name of Jesus.

    Let Us Pray,

I thank you father because you are not man that you should lie, neither a son of man that you should change your mind. LORD, I believe you will fulfill every word you have spoken concerning my life in the name of Jesus.

    PRAYER FOR NIGERIA IN DISTRESS

    All powerful and merciful Father,
You are the God of justice, love and peace.
You rule over the nations of the earth.
Power and might are in your hands and no one can withstand you.
We present our country Nigeria before you.
We praise and thank you for you are the source of all we have and are.
We are sorry for all the sins we have committed
and for the good deeds we have failed to do.
    In your loving forgiveness,
keep us safe from the punishment we deserve.
Lord, we are weighed down not only by uncertainties,
but also by moral, economic and political problems.
Listen to the cries of your people who confidently turn to you,
    Our God of infinite goodness,
    our strength in adversity,
    our health in weakness,
    our comfort in sorrow;
be merciful to us your people.
Spare this nation Nigeria from chaos, anarchy and doom.
Bless us with your kingdom of justice, love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    Amen.
