We, the retired officers who have served this nation, call out this claim as a *BLATANT LIE*. This isn't just a numbers game; it's a calculated campaign of misinformation designed to protect a multi-trillion naira industry at the expense of our lives. Let's examine the evidence. *CLAIM 1: The Myth of 400,000 Police Retirees* PenCom's argument rests on the absurd claim that funding the pensions of 400,000 police retirees would bankrupt the nation. However, the entire serving strength of the Nigeria Police Force is approximately 371,800 officers. How can the number of retirees be larger than the total number of currently serving personnel? This is a deliberate inflation of figures to create fear and block the Police Exit Bill. CLAIM 2: The Outrageous ₦3.5 Trillion Annual Cost In February 2025, the Federal Government announced it had cleared the entire backlog of accrued pension rights for all federal retirees with ₦758 billion. This covered 250,000 retirees from every Ministry, Department, and Agency (MDA). How can PenCom justify a demand for ₦3.5 trillion every single year for the Police alone? This figure is nearly five times the amount needed to clear the national pension backlog. It's a scare tactic, not a realistic financial projection. *CLAIM 3: Their Real Fear—The ₦24 Trillion Empire is at Risk* As of May 2025, the total assets under the CPS stood at over ₦24 trillion. The contributions from the Nigeria Police Force are a foundational pillar of this fund. If the Police leave, it triggers a domino effect. They know that other paramilitary agencies will follow, and their financial empire, built on the sweat of Nigerian workers, will crumble.
