𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝑇𝑜 𝑤𝑖𝑡, 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐺𝑜𝑑 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝐶ℎ𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑡, 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑 𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑖𝑚𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑠 𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚; 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑎𝑡ℎ 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑜 𝑢𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛. 𝟐 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟓:𝟏𝟗 The term vicarious means acting or doing something for another. Our theme verse reveals to us that God, through Christ, took action on our behalf as us and for us. God reconciled the world unto himself in Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ is a meeting point where God met with all of man. This is why Jesus Christ, being fully God and Man, is the only mediator between God and man (𝟏 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝟐:𝟓) In Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily (𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟐:𝟏𝟗). Thus, as man, Christ fulfilled the death penalty of sin. Worthy of note is that death in the scriptures is physical and spiritual, which is separation from God. At the cross, Jesus experienced the separation from the Father when He cried, "𝗠𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗺𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲❓❞ (𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝟭𝟱:𝟯𝟰). We died and rose with him into a new life (𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟔:𝟒). When a person gets born again, the record of their sinful past is wiped away. Christ has paid the price for us to live free of sin, guilt, shame and condemnation. All we need to do is to receive the love of the Father demonstrated to us in Christ Jesus by believing in Jesus and affirming His work for us. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 Eternal Father, thank you for your love for me, which you demonstrated in Christ Jesus. I declare that my sinful past is over. I walk in the newness of life free from fear, condemnation and guilt in Jesus' name, amen. And God, in His grace, has poured His love into your life. The Bible says God commended His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). In giving His Son, God showed the highest kind of love (John 3:16). Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13). To lay down your life for someone is love beyond comprehension. Christ’s death gave us more than forgiveness—it gave us the very life and nature of God. When you received Christ, you received the gift of God’s love.
