There are several flies that tend to be near cattle and interfere with their welfare, although they look similar, each one has unique and distinctive characteristics. These are 9 of the best known:
1. Horn fly (Haematobia irritans)
Small and dark, they usually perch on the backs of cows and move in groups.
2. Stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans)
Resembles the house fly, but is more active and likes to stay in shaded areas.
3. Face fly (Musca autumnalis)
Prefers areas near the eyes and nose of cattle, seeking moisture.
4. House fly (Musca domestica)
The same that we find at home, curious and very common in corrals and pastures.
5. Gadfly (Tabanus spp.)
Large and fast flying, with bright eyes and transparent wings.
6. Buffalo horn fly (Lyperosia irritans)
Similar to the horn fly, but smaller and tends to cluster in large numbers.
7. Maggot fly (Cochliomyia hominivorax)
Striking for its metallic blue-green color and persistent flight around animals.
8. Nose fly (Oestrus ovis)
Very small and inconspicuous, it approaches the snouts of sheep and sometimes cows.
9. Nodule fly (Hypoderma spp.)
Robust, bee-like, often seen on the back area.![]()

I was born into silk sheets and gold spoons,
A son of prestige, raised in the courtroom/home of a Legend.
Ajebutter by birth, yes soft life, soft tongue, soft hands.
But somewhere between legacy and rebellion, I chose the fucking fire.
I traded chandeliers for streetlights.

The fake smiles hiding oppression.
And I knew I wasn’t built to smoke weed in silence.
I was made to raise hell for the helpless.
Ajepako became my path not by force,
But by choice.

The Plateau State chapter of the Coalition of Concerned Muslims, has distanced itself from a statement issued by the Executive Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Prof. Ishaq Akintola, which alleged that the call by Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the withdrawal of the military from troubled spots in the state was a subtle move to target Muslims.
In a strongly worded statement by its chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Adamu, the group said it was appalling that Akintola could descend so low as to make such inciting and inflammatory statements when all Mutfwang intended was to calm frayed nerves following a fresh wave of attacks in the state by bandits that led to massive loss of lives and properties.

If you are thinking of converting your vehicle to CNG-powered, take this free advice from me: DO NOT TRY IT.
Wetin my eye see the last 2 months, my mouth no go fit talk am finish. Not quite sure we are there yet.
Long story cut short: it damaged my engine and I had to spend N680,000 to replace the engine.
The challenges:
1. CNG is not readily available in Nigeria. The few stations that have it often have very long queues. It may take you up to an hour to fill up.
2. A full cylinder of CNG barely lasts for about 80km to 100km. Before you do a few movements you've run out of CNG. This means you'll have to go and queue up again for another hour.
3. Any small thing the CNG don begin leak.
4. CNG burns hotter than fuel so your engine may experience overheating. Mine did twice.
5. Mechanics do not yet know how to repair CNG powered vehicles so if you take a trip to your mechanic for repairs, by the time he is done with the repairs, your CNG system is messed up. This means you will also need to take a trip to CNG technician to have it fixed at extra cost.
6. Initial cost of installation is crazy. 1.5m for 6 cylinder vehicles. Sadly, installation companies are ripping off Nigerians. I later discovered that the actual cost of the full CNG kit is N800,000 and a technician can install it for you for N100,000. So with 900k, you can have it installed. But the companies installing it are charging Nigerians 1.5m for the conversion.
7. The oga kpata kpata of them all: it will damage your engine completely. I was driving peacefully when the engine suddenly packed up and I had to pay to have the vehicle towed to my mechanic. Later found out I was not the only one. According to my mechanic, I was the 15th victim of an engine damage caused by CNG.
That 900k or 1.5m you'll use to convert your vehicle to CNG, na your money you wan troway. Use the money and take yourself on a vacation or do give away and forget CNG.
Not every victim will be open to you like I have o. A word is enough for the wise.

EFCC’s Operations At Majesty Estate, Port Harcourt
In response to a distress call by residents of Majesty Estate, Nigerian Television Authority, NTA Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, concerning the nefarious activities of internet fraudsters in their neighborhood, operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, August 1, 2025, carried out a sting operation that yielded 37 suspected fraudsters.
In the course of the operation, the apartment of one of the residents that the Commission’s intelligence flagged was visited. For some inexplicable reasons, the residents refused to open their doors even when operatives of the Commission properly introduced themselves and announced their mission. On this score, one of the doors of the apartment was pried open, and search operations were carried out. No arrest or recovery was made, and no unprofessional conduct happened in the course of the operations. The Commission finds reports of a viral video of a broken door and harassment of residents in the Estate strange and unwarranted, as many residents profusely appreciated and commended the Commission for coming to their aid in making some arrests of suspected internet fraudsters.
The Commission remains resolute in upholding sound professional conduct in its operations and will not hesitate to take disciplinary measures against any of its operatives found to be overzealous in the discharge of his duties.
