    17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

    Office: Psalter week 1, Te Deum

    Mass prop. Gloria. Creed. Preface of Sunday

    Vestment: Green

    Today’s Rosary: Glorious Mystery

    Vespers II of the 17th Sunday of the year

    WORLD DAY FOR GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY

    Theme of the Sunday: WHEN YOU PRAY SAY “FATHER.....” The Bible urges us to pray always, to thank God in all the situations of our life (I Thes. 5:17-18). But what is prayer? When should we pray? How and why should we pray? The first reading and the gospel give us answers to these questions. We pray so that we may see the world, people and history as God sees theirs. We need to purify our hearts and this can only happen in prayer. The second reading tells us what the Christian is. A Christian is one who, through baptism, has become a part of the body of Christ. Being in Christ, the disciple prays like him.

    ENTRANCE ANTIPHON Cf. Ps 67: 6-7, 36

    God is in his holy place, God who unites those who dwell in his house; he himself gives might and strength to his people.

    The Gloria

    Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you. We bless you. We adore you. We glorify you. We give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

    COLLECT

    O God, protector of those who hope in you, without whom nothing has firm foundation, nothing is holy, bestow in abundance your mercy upon us and grant that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may use the good things that pass in such a way as to hold fast even now to those that ever endure. Through our Lord Jesus Christ…..

    -FIRST READING-

    “Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once.”

    A reading from the Book of Genesis (Genesis 18:20-32)

    In those days: The Lord said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great and their sin is very grave, I will go down to see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry which has come to me; and if not, I will know.” So the men turned from there, and went towards Sodom; but Abraham still stood before the Lord. Then Abraham drew near, and said, “Will you indeed destroy the righteous with the wicked? Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; will you then destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” And the Lord said, “If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake.” Abraham answered, “Behold, I have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes. Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” And he said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.” Again he spoke to him, and said, “Suppose forty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of forty I will not do it.” Then he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak. Suppose thirty are found there.” He answered, “I will not do it, if I find thirty there.” He said, “Behold, I have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.” Then he said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.”

    The word of the Lord.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM Ps 13b:1-2a.2bcd-3. 5-7ab.7c-8 (R. 3a)

    R/. On the day I called, you answered me, O Lord.

    I thank you, Lord, with all my heart;
    You have heard the words of my mouth.
    In the presence of the angels I praise you.
    I bow down towards your holy temple. R/.

    I give thanks to your name
    For your merciful love and your faithfulness.
    You have exalted your name and your promise over all.
    On the day I called, you answered me;
    You increased the strength of my soul. R/.

    R/. On the day I called, you answered me, O Lord.

    The Lord is high, yet he looks on the lowly,
    And the haughty he knows from afar.
    You give me life though I walk amid affliction;
    You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes. R/.

    With your right hand you save me;
    The Lord will accomplish this for me.
    O Lord, your merciful love is eternal;
    Discard not the work of your hands. R/.

    -SECOND READING-

    “God made you alive with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses.”

    A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Colossians (Colossians 2: 12-14)

    Brethren: You were buried with Christ in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, having cancelled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

    The word of the Lord.

    ALLELUIA Romans 6:15bc

    Alleluia. You have received the spirit of sonship; in him we cry, “Abba! Father!” Alleluia.

    -GOSPEL

    “Ask, and it will be given to you.”

    A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (Luke 11: 1- 13)

    Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation.” And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything’? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

    The Gospel of the Lord.

    THE CREED (I BELIEVE)

    I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible, I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ the only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father from all ages, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, consubstantial with the Father, through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation. He came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

    I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord the giver of life, who proceed from the father and son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and life of the word to come. Amen.

    PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

    Celebrant:

    Our Lord Jesus Christ reminds us of the need to pray always. Following his exhortation, let us, with one heart and mind, turn to him with our petitions.

    FOR THE CHURCH: that she may remain steadfast in her task of evangelization and the building up of God’s kingdom on earth. Let us pray to the Lord.

    FOR COMMUNITIES IN OUR COUNTRY EXPERIENCING ARMED VIOLENCE: that the Lord may bring to an end their distressing situations and fill their land with his peace. Let us pray to the Lord.

    FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THE HABIT OF PRAYER: that they may rediscover God as their Father who is ever ready to answer their cry when they seek him in their time of need. Let us pray to the Lord.

    FOR MEMBERS OF OUR WORSHIPPING COMMUNITY: that we may seek to nourish our relationship with Jesus Christ with the word of God, the sacraments and consistent life of prayer. Let us pray to the Lord.

    FOR OTHER INTENTIONS: (the sick, church projects or other activities).

    FOR THE DEAD, ESPECIALLY THOSE OF OUR PARISH COMMUNITY AND FAMILY MEMBERS: that they may find eternal rest with the Lord. Let us pray to the Lord.

    We pray in silence for our private intentions.

    Celebrant:

    Father, through your Son, you have shown to us your inexhaustible mercy. We humbly ask you, in your loving kindness, to safeguard us and to hear our prayers. Through Christ our Lord.

    R/. Amen.

    TODAY'S REFLECTION

    At the depth of each and every one of us is a desire to connect to God. Prayer is the expression of such a desire. The disciples of Jesus ask for the greatest of all lessons; to be taught to pray. In prayer we commune with God. We come to have a beatific experience of God and heaven. Above all, Jesus teaches us that, when we pray, the floodgates of heaven are opened. But how do we open the floodgates of heaven in prayer? The only virtue needed for us in prayer to open the doors of heaven is persistence. Any time we pray, we shift the goalpost of life to our area of competitive advantage over the devil. The forces of evil are overpowered when we pray.

    PERSONAL DEVOTIONAL

    Lord God, my saviour I cry out all day, and at night I come before you. Hear my prayers; listen to my cry for help! Psalm 88:1

    It is written, “He disappointed the devices of the wicked so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise” (Job 5:12).

    Everlasting Father, please frustrate all conspiracies and evil schemes directed against me in the name of Jesus.
    Most High God, my life is in your hand, please be my defense (Psalm 7:10, Job 22:25). Protect me when I go out, when I come in, and all the days of my life in the name of Jesus.
    Pray with Psalm 91 (meditatively)

  • SEXUAL IMMORALITY IS RAVAGING THE WORLD AT PRESENT.
    God Said: There will come a time when mankind will love five things and forget five things.*

    1. They will love the enjoyment of this world and forget the day of judgment.

    2. They will love money and forget the day of accountability of how they acquired and spent the money.

    3. They will fear things that are created and forget the creator.

    4. They will love beautiful mansions and forget their graves.

    5. They will love sins and forget to seek for God's forgiveness.

    Come to think of this?.......

    1. Eternal life = free
    2. Church entrance = free
    3. Christ's salvation = free
    4. God's love = free
    5. Breath of life = free

    A. Cigarette = pay
    B. Prostitution = pay
    C. Alcohol =pay
    D. Nightclub entrance fee = pay
    E. Powers to rule the world = pay

    Teacher's day
    Christmas day
    Independence day
    Boxing day,
    This day,
    That day,
    Day in Day out.

    Have you ever thought of DEATH DAY and JUDGMENT DAY? Is it going to be a day of celebration or condemnation for you?

  • Psalm 27

    1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
    The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?

    2 When the wicked advance against me
    to devour[a] me,
    it is my enemies and my foes
    who will stumble and fall.
    3 Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;
    though war break out against me,
    even then I will be confident.

    4 One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
    that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
    to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.
    5 For in the day of trouble
    he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
    he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
    and set me high upon a rock.

    6 Then my head will be exalted
    above the enemies who surround me;
    at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
    I will sing and make music to the Lord.

    7 Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
    be merciful to me and answer me.
    8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
    Your face, Lord, I will seek.
    9 Do not hide your face from me,
    do not turn your servant away in anger;
    you have been my helper.
    Do not reject me or forsake me,
    God my Savior.
    10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
    the Lord will receive me.
    11 Teach me your way, Lord;
    lead me in a straight path
    because of my oppressors.
    12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
    for false witnesses rise up against me,
    spouting malicious accusations.

    13 I remain confident of this:
    I will see the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living.
    14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord
    Psalm 27 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked advance against me to devour[a] me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. 4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. 6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. 7 Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. 11 Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. 12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. 13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord

  • WHEN YOU LEAVE THE CHURCH SYSTEM OF TODAY, THIS IS WHAT GOD DOES FOR YOU….

    Let’s start with a simple analogy. When your heart was illuminated from heaven, and you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you left Satan. Since then, have you noticed that Satan has NOT left you alone?

    Yes, by God’s grace, Satan does not control your life today - as he used to. But, have you been able to get rid of him completely? I’m sure the answer is NO.

    In exactly the same way, when God illuminates your heart and you leave the evil, lukewarm church system of today, please always remember that the church system does NOT quite leave you!

    This is partly because the church system of today possesses the STUBBORN NATURE of its designer and builder – Satan.

    It’s also because the ways of the church system of today blends excellently with our fleshly nature. So, depending on how long you have spent in the church system, its spirit continues to hover around you, seeking to influence you as the Lord rescues you from its clinging claws to follow Christ.

    Therefore, when God rescues you from the church system, please always remember this: you’ll need a lot of PATIENCE and HUMILITY to move forward in the journey ahead. (A journey that many believers will find very, very challenging.)

    As you get out of the church system it will take some time for God to get the church system out of you. Primarily, this is because the church system was NOT built around Christ. Rather, it was built around MAN! Built by MAN. Built for MAN. (This is why, till today, many sincere, Christ-loving believers find it difficult to leave the church system – even after they realise that Jesus Christ is NOT at its centre).

    But when God calls you out of that church system - to properly integrate you into the heavenly Body of Christ - it will take a considerable time for you to adjust to the process.

    There would be lots and lots to learn and re-learn. The primary lesson will revolve around how to be LED DIRECTLY FROM HEAVEN by the spirit of God. This will be in contrast to how you were LED in the church system both by your own will, and by the WILL OF MEN (pastors).

    Now, let’s break this down further. In God’s plan of salvation, a believer’s life no longer belongs to him. It belongs EXCLUSIVELY to God! And that life is supposed to be lived EXCLUSIVELY for Christ (2 Cor 5:15). Because of this divine reality, that life can only be CONTROLLED from heaven. This is why Jesus (who modelled the life we ought to live as believers) kept repeating words like these: “I can of mine own self do NOTHING (John 5:19,30, etc).

    So, when God rescues you from the church system of today, one of the FIRST LESSONS He’ll teach you relates to directing your attention to WHOM you were called in salvation.

    Most believers that come out of the church system of today would want God to show them WHERE to go next (that is, which new church/fellowship to attend next).

    But, Christianity is primarily not about WHERE, it’s about a WHO!!! And that WHO is Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.

    So, God will take time to get you to become more acquainted with Jesus MORE INTIMATELY. Yes, you may have known Him in salvation. But, God wants you to know Him MORE INTIMATELY. To see Him. To hear Him. To smell Him. To feel Him. To touch Him. And, above all, to be LED BY HIM!

    This is NOT a lesson that is taught primarily by man. Rather, it is taught from heaven by the Spirit. The Spirit of God.

    So, when you leave the church system of today, instead of rushing to join another church, God might ‘leave you’ for some time with the Holy Spirit to be your direct Teacher – rather than men.

    The Holy Spirit will teach you more and more of Christ AND how to be led by His Spirit. To accomplish this goal, He will supernaturally plant resources around you. Resources that you may not notice – if ALL your focus is channelled towards the desire to simply be led to the next church/fellowship!

    But, if you are sensitive, you may notice the resources He’s sending your way. A book here. A message there. An article here. A video there. As well as one, two, or three brethren that He connects to you for discussions/informal fellowship. And so on.

    As you utilise these resources and continuously remain sensitive to His leading, you’d be amazed at how you’ll begin to GROW in the Spirit and in your sensitivity to Him!

    And that’s because, gradually, He’ll shift your focus from the ‘WHERE’ (which we learnt from the church system) to the ‘WHO’ (as ordained by God in salvation).

    It is in this way that the Spirit of the Lord will eventually LEAD YOU to the physical fellowship that HE Himself has prepared for you - and prepared you for. (For some believers, this process may take years!!!)

    In such an assembly, you’ll find other believers that may have undergone a similar divine training/journey. Believers that have been WEANED from the evil origin/ways of the church system – so that their focus can be on Christ ALONE. Where Christ ALONE is at the centre of the church.

    It is only in such a Christ-honouring assembly that you can truly grow in fellowship as ordained by God (Heb 10:25).

    The alternative is to rush from one church/fellowship in the church system of today to another church/fellowship that has NOT been delivered from the spirit of the church system of today. What a disaster!

    And, then, God will have to rescue you again. And the process starts all over again. Of course, there’s no sense in this. And there’s no time to waste in this perilous end-time.

    So, when God delivers you from the church system of today, please understand that there will be A PERIOD OF RE-ORIENTATION as the Holy Spirit Himself realigns your focus back to Christ as the SPRINGBOARD of your life. A life that is controlled from heaven and channelled into the will of God on earth.

    The journey will be quite challenging. But, at the end, you’ll be grateful that God, in His wisdom, did not only take you out of the evil church system of today, but that He also took the evil church system of today out of you!

    So that you may thrive and flourish in the life of Christ (and in destiny) – as ordained by God when He saved you by His unfailing love for your precious soul.

    Thanks for reading, God bless you.

  • *THE RESTORER'S DAILY GUIDE*

    DATE: THURSDAY 24TH JULY 2025

    THEME: *THE EXCHANGE RATE FOR YOUR SOUL*

    MEMORISE
    Mark 8:37
    Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

    READ
    Mark 8:35-37
    For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
    For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
    Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

    THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
    *You are an economy higher in value than the whole world put together.*

    MESSAGE
    Our text today reveals the true value that our maker placed on the soul of man. It tells us that your soul is worth more than the whole world put together. This is why the LORD JESUS asked the question; "What shall it profit a man if shall gain the whole world and then lose his own soul?"
    JESUS, by this revealing question shows that if it were to be just a soul left in the world that needed salvation; He still would have come for that one soul; because of its worth before God.

    Today; people have short-changed the true value of their soul. They have devalued and degraded their souls to earthly things with their transient and vanishing glory. Men now equate eternal things with time bound things. Daily, people trade away their souls for earthly things without real value. Beloved, that exchange rate is too poor!

    One of the reasons why God will punish those who trade away their souls for perishable things is because He made and owns every soul. And He alone knows the worth of every soul. According to His own assessment for every soul, the poorest soul is worth more than the whole world put together. So when we give away what has eternal value and worth for perishable things like money and material things; it grieves and hurts God.

    The equation of your salvation reveals your true worth before God. He sent His only begotten son to die in your place. He did not send an angel or any of the beings in heaven; neither did He give away money or any earthly things that we now exchange our souls to gain.

    The death of Jesus is the revelation of your real worth before God. Therefore, anytime you are tempted to fall for anything less, remember JESUS! And that is if He ever means anything to you.

    Beloved, your real worth is the King of Kings who died in your place. If you are to exchange your soul for anything, it should be for Jesus Christ and nothing less.

    ACTION STEPS
    1. Reset your mindset about your true worth before God.
    2. Step up the exchange rate of your soul. You are an economy higher in value than the whole world put together. The only thing worth falling for is Jesus Christ, not the whole world.
    3. Stop giving a low discount on your soul.

    REMEMBER
    *You are an economy higher in value than the whole world put together.*

    HYMN
    1
    Master, the tempest is raging!
    The billows are tossing high!
    The sky is o’er-shadowed with blackness,
    No shelter or help is nigh:
    "Carest Thou not that we perish?"
    How canst Thou lie asleep,
    When each moment so madly is threatening
    A grave in the angry deep?

    "The winds and the waves shall obey
    My will!
    Peace! ... be still! ...
    Whether the wrath of the storm-tost sea.
    Or demons, or men, or whatever it be,
    No waters can swallow the ship
    where lies
    The Master of ocean, and earth,
    and skies:
    They all shall sweetly obey My will;
    Peace! be still! Peace! be still!
    They all shall sweetly obey My will;
    Peace! peace! be still!"

    2
    Master, with anguish of spirit
    I bow in my grief to-day;
    The depths of my sad heart are troubled;
    Oh, waken and save, I pray!
    Torrents of sin and of anguish
    Sweep o’er my sinking soul;
    And I perish! I perish! dear Master:
    Oh, hasten, and take control.

    3
    Master, the terror is over,
    The elements sweetly rest;
    Earth’s sun in the calm lake
    is mirrored,
    And heaven’s within my breast;
    Linger, O blessed Redeemer,
    Leave me alone no more:
    And with joy I shall make the blest
    harbour,
    And rest on the blissful shore.

    IMMACULATE HEART OF THE BVM (MEMORIAL)

    Office: Memorial, Psalter week 4

    Mass and preface of the memorial

    Vestment: White

    Today’s Rosary: The Joyful Mystery

    Vespers I of the solemnity of Ss Peter & Paul

    -FIRST READING-

    “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, and Sarah shall have a son.”

    A reading from the Book of Genesis (Genesis 18:1-15)

    In those days: The Lord appeared to Abraham by the Oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men stood in front of him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the earth, and said, “My lord, if I have found favour in your sight, do not pass by your servant. Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree, while I fetch a morsel of bread, that you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on — since you have come to your servant.” So they said, “Do as you have said.” And Abraham hastened into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes.” And Abraham ran to the herd, and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to the servant, who hastened to prepare it. Then he took curds, and milk, and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree while they ate. They said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “She is in the tent.” The Lord said, “I will surely return to you in the spring, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. So Sarah laughed to herself, saying; “After I have grown old, and my husband is old, shall I have pleasure?” The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, in the spring, and Sarah shall have a son.” But Sarah denied, saying, “I did not laugh”; for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”

    The word of the Lord.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM Luke 1:46-47.48-49.50 and 53.54-55(R. 54b)

    R/. The Lord has remembered his mercy.
    My soul magnifies the Lord,
    And my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour. R/.

    For he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.
    For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed:
    for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
    and holy is his name. R/.

    R/. The Lord has remembered his mercy.

    And his mercy is on those who fear him
    from generation to generation.
    He has filled the hungry with good things,
    and the rich he has sent empty away. R/.

    He has helped his servant Israel,
    in remembrance of his mercy,
    as he spoke to our fathers,
    to Abraham and to his posterity for ever. R/.

    ALLELUIA Matthew 8:17

    Alleluia. Christ took our infirmities and bore our diseases. Alleluia.

    -GOSPEL-

    “Many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

    A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (Matthew 8:5-17)

    At that time: As Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, begging him and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralysed at home, in terrible distress.” And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion answered him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard him, he marvelled, and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such faith. I tell you, many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness; there men will weep and quash their teeth.” And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment. And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever; he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and served him. That evening they brought to him many who were possessed with demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.”

    The Gospel of the Lord.

    Today’s Reflection

    The humility of the centurion is noteworthy. His expression has been imprinted on our hearts through our Eucharistic worship when we pray: “Lord, I am not worthy to receive you…” Apart from humility, we see in the centurion the extraordinary love of one who goes to Jesus on behalf of a servant. We see his great respect; his awareness that a Jew who entered his home would be considered as defiled. We see a wise person making good use of his own experience in coming to understand others. Finally, we see the quality that amazes Jesus: his faith. We can discern a composite of virtues in the centurion. Let us reflect in gratitude upon our own stores of these qualities of heart, mind, reason and will, and how we might use them more creatively to build God’s Kingdom.

    VIGIL OF S. PETER AND S. PAUL, AP.

    At the vigil Mass

    This Mass is used on the evening of 28 June, either before or after First Vespers (Evening Prayer 1) of the Solemnity.

    Entrance Antiphon

    Peter the Apostle, and Paul the teacher of the Gentiles, these have taught us your law, O Lord.

    Collect

    Grant, we pray, O Lord our God, that we may be sustained by the intercession of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, that, as through them you gave your Church the foundations of her heavenly office, so through them you may help her to eternal salvation. Through our Lord..

    -FIRST READING-

    A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 3:1 -10)

    “I give you what I have, in the name of Jesus, rise and walk.”

    In those days: Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at that gate of the temple which is called Beautiful to ask alms of those who entered the temple. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, with John, and said, “Look at us.” And he fixed his attention upon them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but I give you what I have; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up he stood and walked and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God, and recognised him as the one who sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

    The word of the Lord.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm19:2-3.4-5 (R. 5a)

    R/. Their sound goes forth through all the earth.

    The heavens declare the glory of God,
    and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands.
    Day unto day conveys the message
    and night unto night imparts the knowledge. R/.

    No speech, no word, whose voice goes unheeded;
    their sound goes forth through all the earth,
    their message to the utmost bounds of the world. R/.

    -SECOND READING-

    A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Galatians (Galatians 1:11-20)

    “God set me apart before I was born.”

    Brethren: I would have you know that the Gospel which was preached by me is not man’s gospel. For I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the Church of God violently and tried to destroy it; and I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and had called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas, and remained with him fifteen days. But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord’s brother. (In what I am writing to you, before God, I do not lie!)

    The word of the Lord.

    ALLELUIA John 21 .17d

    Alleluia. Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you. Alleluia.

    -GOSPEL-

    A reading from the holy Gospel according to John (John 21:15-19)

    “Feed my lambs, feed my sheep.”

    When [Jesus had revealed himself to his disciples and] they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” A second time he said to him, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” And he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep. Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you fastened your own belt and walked where you would; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will fasten your belt for you and bring you where you do not wish to go.” (This he said to show by what death he was to glorify God.) And after this he said to him, “Follow me.”

    Saturday June 28, 2025 IMMACULATE HEART OF THE BVM (MEMORIAL) Office: Memorial, Psalter week 4 Mass and preface of the memorial Vestment: White Today’s Rosary: The Joyful Mystery Vespers I of the solemnity of Ss Peter & Paul -FIRST READING- “Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, and Sarah shall have a son.” A reading from the Book of Genesis (Genesis 18:1-15) In those days: The Lord appeared to Abraham by the Oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day. He said, “No, but you did laugh.” The word of the Lord. RESPONSORIAL PSALM Luke 1:46-47.48-49.50 and 53.54-55(R. 54b) R/. The Lord has remembered his mercy. My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour. R/. For he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed: for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. R/. R/. The Lord has remembered his mercy. And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away. R/. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity for ever. R/. ALLELUIA Matthew 8:17 Alleluia. Christ took our infirmities and bore our diseases. Alleluia. -GOSPEL- “Many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew (Matthew 8:5-17) At that time: As Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, begging him and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying paralysed at home, in terrible distress.” And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion answered him, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.” The Gospel of the Lord. Today’s Reflection The humility of the centurion is noteworthy. Sacred Heart of Jesus (Solemnity)

    Office: Prop., Te Deum

    Mass Proper; Gloria. Creed.

    Preface of Sacred Heart

    Vestment: White

    Today’s Rosary: Sorrowful Mystery

    Vespers II of the Most Sacred Heart

    World day of prayer for the sanctification of priests.

    -FIRST READING-

    A reading from the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel (Ezekiel 34:11—16)

    “I will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will make them lie down.”

    “Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when some of his sheep have been scattered abroad, so will I seek out my sheep; and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. And I will bring them out from the peoples, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the fountains, and in all the inhabited places of the country. I will feed them with good pasture, and upon the mountain heights of Israel shall be their pasture; there they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on fat pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord GOD. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the crippled, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will watch over; I will feed them in justice.”

    The word of the Lord.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 23:1-3a.3b-4.5.6 (R. 1)

    R/. The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want.

    The Lord is my shepherd;
    there is nothing I shall want.
    Fresh and green are the pastures
    where he gives me repose.
    Near restful waters he leads me;
    he revives my soul. R/.

    He guides me along the right path,
    for the sake of his name.
    Though I should walk in the valley of the shadow of death,
    no evil would I fear, for you are with me.
    Your crook and your staff will give me comfort. R/.

    R/. The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want.

    You have prepared a table before me
    in the sight of my foes.
    My head you have anointed with oil;
    my cup is overflowing. R/.

    Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life.
    In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell
    for length of days unending. R/.

    -SECOND READING-

    A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans (Romans 5:5b- 11)

    “God shows his love for us.

    Brethren: God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. While we were yet helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Why, one will hardly die for a righteous man — though perhaps for a good man one will dare even to die. But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we are now justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received our reconciliation.

    The word of the Lord.

    ALLELUIA Matthew 11:29ab

    Alleluia. Take my yoke upon you, says the Lord, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart. Alleluia.

    Or the following: John 10:14

    Alleluia. I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my own, and my own know me. Alleluia.

    -GOSPEL-

    A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (Luke 15:3-7)

    Share my joy. I have found my lost sheep.

    At that time: Jesus told the Pharisees and the scribes this parable: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbours, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost. ’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.”

    The Gospel of the Lord.

    PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL

    Celebrant:

    Gathered as one body of Christ on this solemnity of the sacred heart of Jesus, let us pray that our hearts may be filled with a sincere love for God and one another.

    FOR THE LEADERS OF THE CHURCH: That they, aware of their missionary identity, may strive to follow Christ faithfully and to proclaim his gospel to all peoples. Let us pray to the lord.

    FOR CIVIL LEADERS: that they may strive towards building a nation in which the freedom of each person to worship according to the dictates of his or her conscience is guaranteed. Let us pray to the Lord.

    FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LOST FAITH CHRIST: that they, like the lost sheep, may be redirected to the heart of Jesus, where they will dwell forever. Let us pray to the Lord.

    FOR OUR CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY: that we may hunger and thirst for Jesus in the most holy Eucharist and be fed and nourished by him.

We pray O Lord.

    We pray in silence for our private intentions.

    Celebrant:

    God our Father, you are king and most high over all the earth. Graciously hear the prayers we offer to you and grant that we may always enjoy the inexhaustible graces that flow from the sacred heart of Jesus. Through Christ our Lord.

    R/. Amen.

    TODAY’S REFLECTION

    In today’s Gospel, the good shepherd goes in search of the lost sheep, and, after finding it, rejoices with his neighbours. Through this parable, Jesus reveals his compassionate love towards those who go astray.

    The Sacred Heart of Jesus is also a symbol of God’s tender love, compassion and mercy. Although we claim to have faith in the Sacred Heart, we sometimes hold the mistaken belief that God is like a policeman, watching our every move and punishing us when we fail.

    Our devotion to the sacred Heart of Jesus should lead us rather to trust more in the love and forgiveness of God, who desires our salvation and well- being. As disciples of Christ, we should also make an effort to become more compassionate and forgiving towards those who go astray.

    PERSONAL DEVOTIONAL

    “But because of our sins he was wounded, beaten because of the evil we did. We are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he received.” Isaiah 53:5

    - Pray for God to give you the grace to accept the reality of persecution in Christian faith.

    - Father, destroy every spirit of fear in my life.

    - O Lord Jesus, banish every ignorance and sentiments within me that makes me to get discouraged when persecution comes.

    Dear Lord, do not let me be separated from you because of hardship, persecution, hunger, poverty, danger or death. Help me to remain faithful to you. (Pray seriously).

    Let Us Pray,

    O Christ Jesus, when all is darkness, and we feel our weakness and helplessness, give us to have perfect trust in your protecting love and strengthening power, so that nothing may frighten or worry us, for, living close to you, we shall see your hand, your purpose, your will through all things.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 23:1-3a.3b-4.5.6 (R. 1) R/. The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want. The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose. Near restful waters he leads me; he revives my soul. R/. He guides me along the right path, for the sake of his name. Though I should walk in the valley of the shadow of death, no evil would I fear, for you are with me. Your crook and your staff will give me comfort. R/. R/. The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want. You have prepared a table before me in the sight of my foes. My head you have anointed with oil; my cup is overflowing. R/. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for length of days unending. R/. -SECOND READING- A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans (Romans 5:5b- 11) “God shows his love for us. ALLELUIA Matthew 11:29ab Alleluia. Take my yoke upon you, says the Lord, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart. Alleluia. Or the following: John 10:14 Alleluia. I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my own, and my own know me. Alleluia. -GOSPEL- A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (Luke 15:3-7) Share my joy. ’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” The Gospel of the Lord. PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL Celebrant: Gathered as one body of Christ on this solemnity of the sacred heart of Jesus, let us pray that our hearts may be filled with a sincere love for God and one another. We pray O Lord. We pray in silence for our private intentions. Celebrant: God our Father, you are king and most high over all the earth. Graciously hear the prayers we offer to you and grant that we may always enjoy the inexhaustible graces that flow from the sacred heart of Jesus. Through Christ our Lord. R/. Amen. TODAY’S REFLECTION In today’s Gospel, the good shepherd goes in search of the lost sheep, and, after finding it, rejoices with his neighbours. PERSONAL DEVOTIONAL “But because of our sins he was wounded, beaten because of the evil we did. We are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he received.” Isaiah 53:5 - Pray for God to give you the grace to accept the reality of persecution in Christian faith. Let Us Pray, O Christ Jesus, when all is darkness, and we feel our weakness and helplessness, give us to have perfect trust in your protecting love and strengthening power, so that nothing may frighten or worry us, for, living close to you, we shall see your hand, your purpose, your will through all things.
