• Day 9 of the Salary Detox Challenge: Stop Being the Family ATM.

When I started working, my salary was N25,000. That same period, my Mom came to me with a list of bills that was so long.

She said two of my younger siblings just got admission same time and I must train them both.

I looked at her with love, but I told her:
“Mummy, I will train only one this year. Let me grow my capacity. I will take on the second next year. Let the second one learn a skill now."

She wasn’t happy. But I stood my ground.
Because if I didn’t bring structure to that moment, I would have drowned in expectations and poverty just to look like a good son when I can be a great son.

I also gave my Mom a fixed monthly allowance. And I warned her that when her allowance finishes, don’t call me. If your own money finishes before my salary comes, sit down and think and don’t think of me.

It sounds harsh, but let me tell you, It saved me and also saved my family, we would have still remained poor or average till today.

Sometimes the people depending on you don’t need more money, what they need from you is more structure.

You are not God, you are not an ATM and neither can you solve everybody’s money problems.

Even the time I bought my Mom a car, she was excited but started bringing up more bills and more expenses that weren't relevant, just to show that her son is making money.

I will wisper to her that “If this discipline brought us out of poverty, it will take us into wealth. Mom please, let us not break it now.”

That’s the mindset I have carried till today. When you see me disciplined about my finances, it didn't start today.

When you start earning salary, start to build your future with sense, and not spend with emotions. See ehh, you are not just spending your salary ooh, you are spending your destiny trying to carry people who will make you collapse.

And let me shock you, many of them that keep running to you don’t plan, don’t save, don’t build. Deep down, they know, “If anything happens, I will call you.”

My life changed the day I stopped being an ATM… and I became a Bank.

Banks don’t give money because you cried emotions. They ask questions. They will demand structure. They give with a plan and get returns.

Back then, I created what I call a Giving Budget. Every month, I set aside a fixed amount for support. When it finishes... that’s it.
This is my structure. I will not wreck my future to fix someone else’s...

So, for our Day 9 Challenge:
Set your boundary. Create a giving budget and stick to it. When the next call comes? Say with love:
“I am sorry, I have reached my limit. I have a project and I am building something bigger.

You have to do this because when you build properly, you will bless people from overflow and not from survival.

    Please share and comment.

  • Day 8 of Salary Detox Challenge: Pay Yourself First

Bro... when salary enters your account, who eats first?
    Your family?
    Your Friends?
    Your landlord?
    Your Subscriptions?
    Your church?
    Your side chick?

Every month, you work hard, and yet, your future will be the last person to enjoy the money you earned.

Why will you pay every bill first and leave your future hungry. You will tip everyone else and forget to tip the person who worked for it.

I remember when I was still working at the MDGs. It dawned on me one day that I was broke because I wasn’t earning, it was only my bills that were earning.

So I opened an account. I named it "Future Wealth Funding." I made a vow that every income I receive, no matter how small, that something must enter that account first.

At that moment, I stopped feeling broke because I have finally started paying the person who mattered most in that moment... ME.

I realized that the wealthy people we admire pay themselves first and that's why they are wealthy.

Before money leaves their account, they put something aside for themselves, for their future, their growth, their investment.

They apply the principle of “I worked for this. My future deserves a portion of it.”

So, our challenge today is to go and open a new account with Sterling Bank and name it "My Future Wealth Fund."

And before this week ends, move something in there even if it’s N5,000

Please note that the money is sacred and it doesn't listen to whoever that swallowed shovel or ... It's not for emergencies, not for family needs or enjoyment. It is strictly for your future investment.

This is your first step toward wealth. If you can’t save and invest when it’s small, you won’t do same when it’s big.

Wealth begins the day you start paying yourself first, and that is when your future starts smiling at you.

  • Day 6 Salary Detox Challenge: Start Learning to Buy Back Your Time.

Every month, you trade your time for salary.
But when that salary comes… what do you trade it for? Jamb Question.

You go for a new outfit abi? Another flex weekend? A subscription you won’t use?
Or do you really use it to buy back your time?

Some wealthy men wouldn't want you to hear this, "If you don’t learn how to buy back your time, you will hustle for the rest of your life."

I have always had a big concern with the mindset of many civil servants and 9–5 workers.

You close work by 3:30pm, and the rest of your day is in your hands. But instead of using it to build your future, you sit at home watching TV, arguing or romancing with your spouse, scrolling endlessly on social media, or looking for someone to gossip with.

Then at the end of the month, you say “the salary is not enough.”

See ehh, the problem is not just your salary, the problem is what you are doing with your free time and the salary they gave you.

Every salary you earn should have a portion... no matter how small that starts buying your freedom back.

You save. You invest. You build systems.
Because one day, your energy will drop, your job may end, and if all you did was hustle with no structure, you will be in regret.

    So, today’s challenge is simple.
Find one activity that wastes your time… and replace it with something that builds your life and finances.

See, while the poor spend time, the wealthy invest time like they do with capital.

I didn’t build Pamtech today by luck, I started with salary and started using my free time like a weapon, every night, weekend, free moment. I invested my salary and free time and used it to design my future.

    You can too.
But first, stop wasting time like it’s free. it’s one of the most expensive things you have.

Please, share and comment to give me energy to create more. This Salary Detox is a mission, let's make it a movement.

  • Day 5 of Salary Detox Challenge: Say No to Impulse.

About 10 years ago, our current Group General Manager was still working as my PA. One afternoon, One investment opportunity came and I asked her a simple question:

“Have you saved up to a million naira for investment?”

She looked at me and told me frankly that she hadn’t even saved half of that. So I sat her down, not to judge her, but to help her find the leak.

I advised her to thoroughly go through her expenses, one by one, and what she found out shocked both of us.

She was a hard worker, a high performer… but her bank account didn’t reflect her effort.

Why did i say that? Impulse buying.

She would walk into supermarkets without a list, buying whatever caught her eye just because there was money in her account.

She would scroll online and buy anything that looked “fine” or trendy, whether she needed it or not.

She gave money emotionally to anyone who asked, as if she alone could solve everybody’s problems.

And she always believed in her mind that you dont have to worry, the next salary is coming.

That mindset was eating deep into her future and she never noticed it.

So I gave her a new order,

Never enter a supermarket or any market environment without a written list.

Told her to sell the things she bought but never used.

And adviced her to stick to a monthly budget and save up 50% of her salary for investment if she was too hungry to succeed. Also, to stop giving out money emotionally.

That was her turning point. And today? She leads an entire group. She didn’t just stop impulse buying, she started building wealth and modelling it intentionally.

So today's Challenge, you too must face the spirit of impulse that’s eating your future.

Say NO to anything not in your budget.
Say NO to emotions at checkout.
Say NO to "I feel like it."

Please, say no to impulse and fix the leak, then say YES to discipline and to your future.

  • Day 4 of Salary Detox Challenge: Know Your Numbers

You see, budgeting is not for broke people. It’s for serious people. What you don’t measure, you can’t manage and what you can’t manage, you will surely lose even if it’s plenty.

Many of us are afraid to look at our financial truth. We fear the numbers.
We fear seeing that we earn N300k but spend N420k.

But until you face it, you can’t fix it. Clarity is the first real step.

If you don’t know where your money is going, how much you owe, or what you are really spending each month, you will stay stuck because you are not in control.

Avoiding the numbers won’t fix your freedom but will only delay it. Just like you can’t start a journey without knowing your current location, you can’t build wealth if you don’t face your financial reality.

Sit down and calculate your real income and expenses. Yes, Not guesswork.

Be honest with what comes into your account monthly, What goes out... daily, weekly, and monthly.

Airtime, data, transport, food, bills, debt, subscriptions, giving, rent, flexing, infact put a number to everything.

Let your monthly budget capture your income, expenses, debts, and savings, it might shock you, but that’s a good way to build a plan that starts with honesty, control, and structure.

So today's Challenge, let the numbers talk.
Even if it’s painful, take 30 to 60 minutes to write it all down, so you know if you are building or bleeding.

I am sharing what I did differently to get to this point. If you love my kind of results, then follow me on this challenge.

  • Day 3 of Salary Detox Challenge: Break a Habit.

Today is personal… Do you know it's your bad habits that are silently sabotaging your money every month, every week, every day?

You don’t need a money raise first, what you need first is a habit reset. If your money habit is broken, even if they triple your salary, it will still disappear like smoke.

So today, take a hard look at your one bad money habit. The one you always excuse. The one you say, “It’s not much nah,” but it’s silently eating your future.

Maybe it’s always buying “something small” whenever you pass that shop or borrowing small money here and there to buga and forgetting the interests.

For most of our youths, it’s betting, they want to get rich quick and you also see them with random subscriptions they don’t even use.

Well, you know the one that is affecting your money small small. That habit is more dangerous than the figure. I can tell you that these habits build momentum… and momentum builds destiny.

For me, I had to stop solving every financial problem I saw around my friends and family. I thought it was generosity, but it was bleeding me dry.

So here is todays Challenge and I hope you will take it seriously...

Break one bad money habit today... say NO to one spending pattern you have been tolerating.

Face your Fears.

Fear is what's really holding you back from saving, investing, and using your salary wisely, It’s not just only lack of money.

And I am talking about the quiet fear that hides in your mind and silently guides your spending habits.

Some of us fear looking “too broke” in front of friends or family. So we buy phones, clothes, and lifestyle we can’t afford, just to feel among.

Some fear saying “no” to siblings and parents, because they don’t want to be called stingy person.

Others are scared of investment. They have heard stories of scams here and there, so they hold tightly to their salary, not realizing that fear of risk is costing them more than any loss would.

Many fear the idea of planning and budgeting. Because if they sit down and look at their budget account, they will have to confront the truth.

And then there is the fear that whispers, “This salary is too small to save, It's not enough, abeg chop life.”

So you keep eating tomorrow’s peace for today’s pleasure.

But see eeh, fear can crush you or fuel you.

When I started earning, I had fears too. I was afraid of being broke again. Afraid of building something and losing it and carrying responsibilities I couldn’t handle.

But instead of letting that fear paralyze me, I used it to build structure around me.

I created systems of "Me First" and automated savings that are priority fir my future. I started investing small smalll and stopped trying to impress people who even dont care. I stopped trying to solve all family problems.

And that’s what I want for you today.

    Today’s challenge is simple,
Write down your biggest financial fear and what you think it truly is. Please be honest.

And then ask yourself "What if I use this fear to fuel a better future?" Because when fear is exposed, it loses its power and also when it’s redirected, it becomes something that can build a fortune.

So, we fear bills now, but we don’t fear poverty in old age. We don’t fear living salary to salary at 65.

It’s time to fear the right things, face it and use it to build the right life.

We have to detox our fears.
