• Late Stella Obasanjo, the wife of the former
    President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo
attended a programme close to where she
    obtained her Secondary School education.
After the programme, while stepping out of the
venue, she heard somebody shouting from
    behind, "Aunty Star!,
    Aunty Star!, Aunty Star!..........."
This was the name her juniors in school used to
call her while she was in Secondary School.
She turned around and saw the woman calling
her and ordered her escorts to allow her pass
through. The woman informed her that she was one of her juniors while they were in school.
Her Excellency was so pleased to meet her. The
woman took the opportunity to plead with Stella to assist her as she was a widow and was
suffering with her children. Her Excellency, been a very compassionate
woman asked her to name what she wanted her to do for her. The woman replied her by saying "Anything". This question was put to her again and she repeated the same answer! So Her
Excellency instructed one of her escorts to give
    the woman #50,000.
After which, she gave the woman her private
number and asked her to call her in two weeks
time, that she was about traveling out and that
by then, she should have thought out exactly
what she wants her to do for her. The woman went home rejoicing and even went to testify
in Church, However, before the 2 weeks elapsed, Stella Obasanjo died abroad while undergoing a surgery!

    #Lesson !
¶ Always know what you want in life...and don't
    settle for anything less.
¶ Success occurs when preparation meets
    opportunity.
Opportunity is a visitor, when it visits you, try to
maximize it as it may never come visiting again.

  • Treat failure as a lesson on how not to approach achieving a goal, and then use that learning to improve your chances of success when you try again. Failure is only the end if you decide to stop.

  • The “Dead Horse Theory” is a satirical metaphor that illustrates how some individuals, institutions, or nations handle obvious, unsolvable problems. Instead of accepting reality, they cling to justifying their actions.

The core idea is simple: if you realize you’re riding a dead horse, the most sensible thing to do is dismount and move on.

However, in practice, the opposite often happens. Instead of abandoning the dead horse, people take actions such as:

    • Buying a new saddle for the horse.
    • Improving the horse’s diet, despite it being dead.
    • Changing the rider instead of addressing the real problem.
    • Firing the horse caretaker and hiring someone new, hoping for a different outcome.
    • Holding meetings to discuss ways to increase the dead horse’s speed.
    • Creating committees or task forces to analyze the dead horse problem from every angle. These groups work for months, compile reports, and ultimately conclude the obvious: the horse is dead.
    • Justifying efforts by comparing the horse to other similarly dead horses, concluding that the issue was a lack of training.
    • Proposing training programs for the horse, which means increasing the budget.
    • Redefining the concept of “dead” to convince themselves the horse still has potential.

    The Lesson:

This theory highlights how many people and organizations prefer to deny reality, wasting time, resources, and effort on ineffective solutions instead of acknowledging the problem from the start and making smarter, more effective decisions.

What are your thoughts about this theory?

  • According to psychologists, there are four types of intelligence:

    1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ)

    2. Emotional Quotient (EQ)

    3. Social Quotient (SQ)

    4. Adversity Quotient (AQ)

    1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ)

IQ measures your ability to comprehend, analyze, and solve problems. It helps with tasks like solving math problems, memorizing information, and recalling lessons.

    2. Emotional Quotient (EQ)

EQ reflects your ability to manage emotions and interact harmoniously with others. It includes skills like maintaining relationships, being responsible, respecting boundaries, showing humility, and demonstrating honesty and empathy.

    3. Social Quotient (SQ)

SQ measures your ability to build and maintain relationships over time. It reflects how well you connect with others, collaborate, and navigate social environments.

    Why EQ and SQ Matter

People with high EQ and SQ often achieve greater success in life than those with a high IQ but low emotional and social intelligence. While schools primarily focus on developing IQ, EQ and SQ are just as important for personal and professional growth.

Someone with a high IQ may end up working for a person with strong EQ and SQ, even if the latter has only an average IQ.

    EQ represents your character.

    SQ represents your charisma.

Focus on developing all three, especially EQ and SQ, to thrive in different aspects of life.

    4. Adversity Quotient (AQ) – A New Perspective

AQ measures your ability to endure difficulties and bounce back from setbacks without losing mental stability. It determines who perseveres in tough times, who abandons their responsibilities, and who may struggle with despair or hopelessness.

    A Message to Parents

Expose your children to more than just academics. Encourage them to value manual labor (never use work as punishment), participate in sports, and explore the arts.

Help them develop IQ, EQ, SQ, and AQ so they become well-rounded individuals capable of navigating life independently.

Instead of preparing the road for your children, prepare your children for the road.

An antelope was running like mad. An elephant asked him: "Antelope, why are you running like that?" The antelope replied, "The police are arresting all the goats in the village." The elephant retorted: "But you are not a goat!" The antelope replied, "With our current judiciary system, it will take me 20 years to prove that I am not a goat." And the elephant also started running.
    Happy Mid week

    2) Emotional Quotient (EQ)
    3) Social Quotient (SQ)
    4) Adversity Quotient (AQ)

    1. Intelligence Quotient (IQ): this is the measure of your level of comprehension. You need IQ to solve maths, memorize things, and recall lessons.

    2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): this is the measure of your ability to maintain peace with others, keep to time, be responsible, be honest, respect boundaries, be humble, genuine and considerate.

    3. Social Quotient (SQ): this is the measure of your ability to build a network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.

People that have higher EQ and SQ tend to go further in life than those with a high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize on improving IQ levels while EQ and SQ are played down.

A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ.

Your EQ represents your Character, while your SQ represents your Charisma. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs, especially your EQ and SQ.

Now there is a 4th one, a new paradigm:

    4. The Adversity Quotient (AQ): The measure of your ability to go through a rough patch in life, and come out of it without losing your mind.

When faced with troubles, AQ determines who will give up, who will abandon their family, and who will consider suicide.

Parents please expose your children to other areas of life than just Academics. They should adore manual labour (never use work as a form of punishment), Sports and Arts.

Develop their IQ, as well as their EQ, SQ and AQ. They should become multifaceted human beings able to do things independently of their parents.

Finally, do not prepare the road for your children. Prepare your children for the road."

  • I presided over today's Oyo State House of Assembly plenary session, where we made several significant decisions to drive growth and development in Oyo State.

The Oyo State House of Assembly directed its Committee on Agriculture to investigate the Silo Project at Awe, which was initially awarded in September 2014, but had stalled due to alleged breach of contract, prompting Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene with an out-of-court settlement and contract variation in 2019 to rescue the project.

The House equally received the report of its Committee on Transport, emphasizing the need for the Executive arm of Government to upgrade facilities at the Vehicle Inspection Office for optimal performance.

We discussed a motion on "The Need to digitalize Education management system in Public Primary and Secondary Schools in theState through institutionalization of E-Lesson notes for effective service delivery.

We approved the report of the House Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, focusing on the oversight inspection of facilities in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), and Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS).
