A PURPOSEFUL LIFE
A life of meaning and purpose must be built around your three most important values. Some people may not even know what they value, but you can usually get a good indication by examining how you spend your money and what you do with your time. Junk values could ensure you won't lead a fulfilling life, such as materialism, where valuing possessions and wealth serves as primary indicators of success; seeking fame, where widespread recognition becomes a measure of self-worth; or conformity, which prioritises societal norms over authentic self-expression. Additionally, indifference to learning, valuing ignorance, or lacking curiosity about the world can also detract from a meaningful life.
For me, without intellectual curiosity, it's like lacking oxygen. Life would be extremely unexciting and boring if I were to toss aside my time on empty vanities, like shopping, dining, partying, or lying on the beach sunbathing, engaging in café culture, and following low-yielding lifestyle trends that may bring immediate gratification but lack long-term rewards. To me, that would be the most unfulfilled life. You will find that the people you associate with will share similar attitudes toward the values you hold dear, as you'll admire them for their achievements, which may align with your highest ideals. Not everyone will share the same values.
You might not see that same thing as a priority. For me, quietness is one of my greatest treasures. If I lived next door to constant banging or loud noise, traffic sounds, and blaring music, that would be the worst environment for me to thrive in. It’s about identifying what is important to you and why. I have observed people who do not grasp the essence of time; they live for material things that are completely temporary and won’t matter beyond the grave while everything in the spirit is enduring. They tend to use their minds to focus on mundane matters, whereas the spiritual mind embodies life and peace.
This is a good starting point for inquiry. To be spiritually minded, you must set your sights on things above those that are permanent. When we look with our natural eyes, we only see what is right in front of us. We can observe the clouds, buildings, grass, plants, animals, and the material compositions of cars, roads, shops, clothes, or people. That's all a materialist will notice. One who is super spiritual will perceive the world through a lens shaped by imposed narratives on every event under the sun. They will see people and things through this lens, thinking, 'This person may be my destiny helper.' They might believe that 'that person must have sinned because of their hardship' or 'that person is struggling financially because they didn't pay tithes.' These individuals will connect stories to events that lack spiritual insight, are paganistic, and are influenced by deceptive religious narratives
Being spiritually minded means thinking like Christ—considering how to advance the kingdom, ensure God's will is done, connect to His voice in the spirit through intimacy, and instil values that will enable His kingdom to have dominion in various areas of life. What would God do in this situation? How would He lead? When we think from God's perspective, our worldview and paradigm reach the highest level of thought because God views things from an eternal standpoint, which is why He sent His Son to solve the problem.
Are we passionate about the redemption of the earth and multiplying truth or God's kingdom through values and principles? When we value what God values, which is the lost, that is why He came to this earth. Even if His death on the cross redeemed only one soul, God would have still done it because people are so valuable to Him. Therefore, the highest-yielding values are those related to people. If we think a bit deeper about this, people have many different aspects, such as health and survival, but beyond survival is a thriving life. This thriving life can come through principles of truth that belong to God's fixed laws. Most people do not even know that life was designed to be lived by laws, so the lower one goes in values to material things connects to the carnal nature. You can ascend a little higher to intellectual values and even higher to spiritual values, but to be effective on this earth while being spiritually but intellectually poor is a tragedy, as you cannot advance the kingdom effectively. We were made of material; therefore, we must create material solutions that stem from the Spirit
A monotheist worldview believes in one God, who is the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. They are one but have different functions. The Father is the Godhead. He is omniscient and omnipresent in the Spirit, while man becomes the physical manifestation of the Word. The Word is what we create from it; it is how we reference, explain, describe, contemplate, and draw on evidence. It is used for everything we do. It is the beginning of all things. Jesus was the Word-made flesh that dwelt among us. During his life, He gave us a visual representation of the Father because Jesus said, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father." Jesus’ attitude, responses, and viewpoint reflect the Father because he is one with Him. The ultimate goal of life is to be one in spirit, body, and soul with the Father, but the soul is the mediator between the spirit and the body.
That is why the soul is one of the most vital components of who we are. If incorrect information is filtering through the soul at the level of knowledge perceived through images and words, it shapes our understanding. Therefore, the deeper we connect with any word, regardless of the path God has called us to or what we do, the words that weave the narrative, which may be bursting with passion for certain aspects of life. However, it's crucial to define your core values to create a life worth living, where when you stand before God, you stand unashamed.
