OTUKPO KILLINGS IN ASA 2 TODAY: WHO FAILED US?

Ah, how the earth trembles with the weight of fresh blood! How the air thickens with the cries of the forgotten! Otukpo bleeds once more, and the vultures circle above, feasting on our silence.

Yesterday, a man—a son of Idoma—Akatu Onche, known as Okakpo ka Achumedo, was gunned down in Asa 2. And today, before the blood of the slain could even dry, a husband, a wife, and three innocent children were dragged into the abyss. Taken. Vanished. Devoured by the shadows of the night.

Tell me, who failed us?

Was it the men who wear the uniform of protectors but sleep through the screams? The ones who arrive too late, with empty notepads and hollow condolences?

Was it the leaders who sit upon thrones of deception, singing lullabies of progress while death writes its own anthem in the streets?

Was it the people, too tired to fight, too afraid to resist, whispering prayers to gods who no longer listen?

Or is it all of them—architects of a grand betrayal, sculptors of despair, builders of unmarked graves?

Look around you. This is the kingdom they have built—a city where death walks free, where the living cower, where justice is a ghost.

Shall we light the torches and drag these cowards into the light? Shall we ask them to explain why they watch from their ivory towers while the streets turn red? Or shall we simply wait… wait until the bullet that took Okakpo finds its next victim?

Ah, but what does it matter? By tomorrow, another man will fall. By next week, another child will disappear. By next month, another family will become a statistic. And when it happens, those who hold power will sigh, shake their heads, and return to their feasts, unmoved.

Our concerns are valid, and the situation in Otukpo is deeply troubling. The killings, kidnappings, and general insecurity are turning what was once a vibrant town into a place of fear. If basic amenities like water are already scarce and now security is deteriorating, it raises serious questions about the future of the community.

This 2025 Small Sallah Festivities, many will think twice before visiting home. What should be a time of joy and reunion is now clouded by fear. The bloodshed must stop. Our leaders cannot continue to watch in silence. Otukpo deserves peace. Idoma land deserves justice.
Stay safe, and let’s keep raising our voices.

But let them know this:
A storm is coming. A reckoning they cannot outrun. A fire that does not forgive. If they will not protect this land, then let the land rise against them. If they will not answer for these killings, then let the very darkness they allow consume them.
Otukpo is crying. Who failed us? And more importantly, who will be next?
