Nigerian Opposition Leaders Unite Under African Democratic Congress (ADC) for 2027 Elections

In a significant development, major opposition parties in Nigeria, including the PDP, Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, and Social Democratic Party, have put aside their differences to form a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party's Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Ameachi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai are among the key leaders driving this coalition. After months of speculation, the group has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political vehicle .

Senator David Mark has been appointed as the ADC's interim national chairman, while Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will serve as the interim national secretary. Notably, Aregbesola initially rejected the offer but later accepted it after being persuaded by stakeholders .

The ADC's national chairman, Ralph Nwosu, has stepped aside to allow Mark and Aregbesola to take over as interim leaders. Former Minister of Sport Bolaji will serve as the national publicity secretary.

This united opposition front aims to challenge President Bola Tinubu's administration in the 2027 elections. The move has sparked a nationwide conversation, with mixed reactions from political analysts and the general public.
