An Elephant’s pregnancy is for the duration of 22months. The longest among Mammals.

It is almost impossible for elephants to birth twins. This is because mothers rarely have enough milk to feed their babies (calves). However, it is possible but both rarely survives.

A female elephants birth 4-5 (most) babies during their life time.

Normally, without being pregnant, an elephant sleeps only for 3-4hours a day due to their weights getting up.

However, a pregnant elephant sleeps for more hours while standing, though they do not sleep deep.

A pregnant elephant feeds for around 20hours a days against their 18 hours of feeding while not pregnant—And while they approached their 20th months of pregnancy, they begin to starve themselves so they can loose weight. This practice is a natural routine for them to be able to give birth easily.

And when the Baby elephants are born, they do not have the necessary build up microorganisms in their guts to digest plant materials and every other thing they eat when they are born.

So what they do is, eat their mother’s poo known as dungs, as it helps develop in them the digestive bacteria and the likes of worms which will digest the food in their stomachs.

And, you must never, ever be cruel to an elephant because they have an amazing memory. They will remember that for life as they bear grudges.

So I stumbled on this really sad news where a man had bea¥ his wife to death.

Stories says that she already had two girls and gave birth for the third time... another girl and that's her only offense forgetting that what you put in there as a man is what you take out.

He happens to be Igbo.

So I remember recently I was talking with this highly educated Igbo Man who is my friend.

His wife has 5 girls already and pregnant with a six child.

And I told him jokingly, I know this last born will enjoy so much... with all these sisters to pamper him or her.

And he said, how am I sure she's last born...it depends on it it's a boy.

I said wow....so he will not stop giving birth until he has a boy child.

He said to me...is that even a question to be asking him?
He's a bonafide Igbo Man and what has he come to life to do it he doesn't have a boy child, so who will inherit all the fruit of the sweat and labour? It will just scatter with the wind like that? Noo na.

I emphasized his educational level at the beginning intentionally for obvious reasons... that this is the mentality of a man who has a sound education, but can't help still with such archaic thinking.

Rip to the deceased who's only crime was...not because she was barren, but not birthing a boy.

Boy or girl, a child is a blessing and should accepted and raised in love and care and the woman who birth them should be adored and honoured.

GOVERNOR ENO DECLARES OPEN STATE EXCO RETREAT IN LAGOS

…reiterates zero tolerance on excuses

Governor Umo Eno says the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council retreat currently taking place in Lagos, is meant to further distill the culture of deliverables and deepen respect for boundaries as his administration works to relentlessly drive its vision of economic growth and wellbeing, peace and prosperity for the people of the State.

Declaring open the retreat at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, Governor Eno said the retreat is expected to have participants, fully reinvigorated, equipped, refreshed and challenged for the tasks ahead.

“We have assembled a great team of speakers drawn from diverse backgrounds and I know we are going to have a great and exciting time.

“Even though this is essentially an EXCO Retreat, we have, however, brought in all our Delivery Team
Members and stakeholders, to reinforce our commitment in ensuring timely delivery of our projects.

“We were here, last in 2023, shortly after our inauguration, where we had distilled the foundational principles of the Arise Agenda with the then EXCO members.

“It’s good to note that a number of the members of the last EXCO have been reappointed and thus are deeply conversant with our culture of deliverables.

The Governor who appreciated resource persons, particularly, Tony Blair Institute, for accepting to share their knowledge and expertise.

He reminded the new Executive Council members, that “the fact that you are here, means you completely understand our propelling impulse which essentially is that we are running against time.”

He maintained that time was of essence, “given the number of very audacious projects, are determined to execute and complete within the next two years of our first term.”

Emphasizing the need for teamwork and unity, Governor Eno maintained that if he were to suggest a theme for the retreat, it would be “Teaming for Greater Success”, and called for synergy, collaboration, loyalty and commitment to recording results.

Pastor Eno spoke glowingly on his Arise agenda, saying that it has been articulated and translated into implementable layers, maintaining that having “taken acute and deep ownership of the vision”, the exco members are the agents to relentlessly drive the vision to completion.

He reminded them that Akwa Ibom people will not tolerate excuses, hence his decision to appoint a renowned technocrat as his Chief Delivery Adviser and Executive Assistant.

Governor Eno used the forum to again clarify that the State Delivery Advisors have their responsibilities clearly spelt out, which is to supervise some of the major projects billed for completion within the next 24 months.

“They have the institutional memory and knowledge of these projects, and we have simply asked them to complete what they had started and deliver them to specifications and on time.

“The Honourable Commissioners have new projects that we are initiating and are expected to follow-through on those projects to completion”, he said.

The retreat, expected to last four days had on the first day Tuulia Pitkanem, a senior adviser in the Tony Blair Institute, and a former Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Finland, who spoke on ways of translating the Governor’s Address into Policy Interventions.

Others who spoke on Day One, include Mr Emem Bob who spoke on the Budget Presentation and Fiscal Outlook, as well as Government Communication and Reputation Management presented by Mr Aniekan Umanah.

“Between now and May 29, we shall flag off a major project — the City Gate and the Sales Office of the Ibom Deep Seaport. We are done talking, done drawing, and done with paperwork. Now, it’s time for action.”

*AKSG Cautions Sterling Oil to Revert to Lawful Land Allotment or Face Sanctions*

The Akwa Ibom State Government has issued a stern warning to Sterling Oil Exploration Company following violations of terms of land grant and unlawful encroachment beyond its legally assigned portion in Eastern Obolo and surrounding communities in the State.

In a strongly worded letter dated Friday, April 4, 2025, and signed by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, SAN, the State Government expressed deep displeasure over the company’s illegal operations and disregard for regulatory provisions.

The letter mandated Sterling Oil to, within seven (7) days, submit all documentation relating to its land acquisitions and Right of Way approvals in Akwa Ibom State to the Office of the Attorney General. The company is also directed to immediately restore all blocked canals and waterways, and to desist from any future interference with natural water channels.

Furthermore, Sterling Oil is required to produce a certified copy of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report that was submitted in pursuit of regulatory approvals for its operations.

The Government emphasized that these measures do not preclude further enforcement actions.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens and host communities affected by the company’s activities and upholding the legal frameworks guiding the Oil and Gas Free Zone under which Sterling Global operates.

While reiterating its pro-business stance, the Government warned that corporate interests must not override the rights, welfare, and ecological integrity of Akwa Ibom communities.

The State remains resolute in ensuring that all operators within its territory strictly adhere to the rule of law and sustainable development practices.
