Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has approved the appointment of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas within the state. The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, shared in a Special Government Announcement on Wednesday morning that approval has been granted. EFCC Arrests Suspected Fraudster Buying Bank Accounts Details for Fraud Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Olawole Sunday, a suspected fraudster who specialised in buying bank accounts’ details from individuals with which he defrauds unsuspecting members of the public. Sunday's modus operandi involved encouraging young people to open multiple bank accounts, pay them either N25,000 or N50,000 for each account and collect their bank details including Automated Teller Machine, ATM cards. Sunday allegedly employed the account details of one Uyi Godstime Eghosa to defraud a petitioner the sum of N2 million under the guise of trading in forex. The account owner, Eghosa was arrested and his disclosure that he was unaware that his account was used in defrauding members of the public, led to Sunday’s arrest. Eghosa explained that he relinquished his account details, including his ATM card, to Sunday after a N25,000 (Twenty-five Thousand Naira) payment to him. Sunday, upon his arrest, confessed to the crime and would be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed.

In their statement, they shockingly described the officer as "mad." Let’s be clear: This is not an act of goodwill. This is an act of negligence, brutality, and injustice. According to Mr. Mkpang’s wife, the total amount given by the Nigeria Police Force is only ₦200,000. We ask: Is ₦200,000 the value of a man’s life? I am proud of the Akwa Poly Students Community I'm happy that the students of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene took the bold step yesterday to register their displeasure over the senseless Brutality of their students by the Nigerian Police. At least, for the first time, they were able to get the Chairman of the C0uncil to step out to make a public statement about the issue. I also saw that the Force Headquarters at Ikot Akpan Abia also made a press statement yesterday. I love their bravery despite the resistance by the police at Ikot Ekpene, who allegedly threw teargas at them during the peaceful demonstration. At least they made a statement And I hope they did that within the provision on the law! Let's hope for a solution soon! Let's hope they back up their words with actions too. Verydarkman: Activist or Political Player? I've always admired Verydarkman for his fearless stance on social issues and his bold fight against corruption. His ability to speak truth to power earned him the respect of many, including myself. However, his recent involvement in the Rivers State political crisis has raised serious questions about his objectivity and true motives. It is concerning to see him openly supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara while ignoring critical issues that have shaken the state. When the Rivers State House of Assembly was burned down and later demolished without prior notice to lawmakers, Verydarkman was silent. When thugs attacked the Speaker’s residence, he said nothing. He also remained quiet when the salaries and entitlements of 27 lawmakers were withheld, when threats were made to demolish the Assembly Quarters, and when court cases were used as tools to suppress legislators. Even when the Governor sent the 2024/2025 budget to non-existent lawmakers and formed a three-man committee in an attempt to override legislative authority, he had nothing to say. Yet, now that the Assembly is lawfully carrying out its duties, he suddenly finds his voice. This selective outrage is disappointing and raises the question—has Verydarkman become a political player rather than the activist many once admired? His close ties to lawyer Deji Adeyanju may have influenced his stance, but he should tread carefully. The perception that he is now a political merchant misleading the public is growing stronger. If he has chosen to enter politics, he should be honest about it. Activism should not be a cover for political interests.

Alleged $968,000 Fraud: How Fake US Engineer Duped Me-Witness The trial of Wawe Eseoghene Nelson, a.k.a James Andrew Shmit and Philip Bradley before Justice Aliyu Halilu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja commenced on Thursday, March 14, 2025 with the presentation of the First Prosecution Witness, PW1, Kathleen Sharp by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Nelson, arraigned on February 11, 2025 is facing prosecution by the EFCC on 11 count-charges bordering on advance fee fraud, impersonation, conspiracy and obtaining under false pretence to the tune of $968,000 (Nine Hundred and Sixty-eight Thousand Dollars), allegedly obtained from two US victims, Sharp and Holly Stamm. Count one of his charge reads: “That you, Wawe Esoghene Nelson (a.k.a James Andrew Smith) sometime in 2023 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of One Hundred and Fifty-Five Thousand Dollars ($155,000) from one Kathleen Sharp, living in the United States of America with Telephone Number +13025983826 through Chase Bank with account name Pearl and Allison Llc, account number 952177670, Routing 021000021, account address 35 Knollwood Dr Aptos CA 95003 with bank address at 1990 41st Avenue, Capitola, CA 95010 under the false pretence that you are James Andrew Smith, a Petroleum Engineer from United States of America that is into engineering project, relating to petroleum project which pretence you knew was false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.” Count 11 reads: “That you Wawe Esoghene Nelson (a.k.a Philip Bradley) sometime in 2022 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Dollars ($120,000.00) from one Holly Stamm, a Citizen of United States of America with email address stammus2012@gmail.com through Bitcoin and under the false pretence that you are James Andrew Shmit a Petroleum Engineer from United States of America that is into engineering project relating to petroleum exploration and that the said sum will be used to secure a petroleum project which pretence you knew was false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1) (a)of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.” He pleaded not guilty to all the charges when they were read to him, prompting his trial. Led in evidence by prosecuting counsel, Maryam Aminu Ahmed, the witness narrated how the defendant lured her via the social media into sending him money in the guise of financing a project and would repay her when the project yielded dividends upon completion. “I was contacted by the Commission that they discovered that I was defrauded by one James Andrew Shmit via social media platform. We communicated over social media where he presented himself as an engineer working at BP Oil in the Gulf of Mexico. He started by asking for funds because he did not have access to his personal funds and the credit situation in connection with the project required a large amount of funds with the promise that it will be returned and he will avail the funds to me. The total funds are $183,000 (One Hundred and Eighty-three Thousand Dollars) through three instalments, one by wired certificate cheque, two instalments by wired transfer. The first one was for $45,500, (Forty-five Thousand Dollars), the second one was $131,000 (One Hundred and Thirty-one Dollars) and the third was $7000 (Seven Thousand Dollars) I wired. I have not been paid my money. After the third instalment, he pushed me to pay another $10,000 (Ten Thousand Dollars), but I did not pay. There was a picture on his profile, he has brown hair and white. I will like the refund of the investment and funds and he should be persecuted for his actions,” she said. EXCLUSIVE: Ex Gov Emmanuel, Home After Invite By Anti Graft Agency | #IgbereTV Igbere TV can authoritatively confirm that immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel returned home Tuesday evening after honouring an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
