Audrey Maame Esi Swatson, from Saltpond, Ghana, made history as the youngest female commercial pilot in the country. Within a year, she completed her first solo flight and went on to earn her Commercial Pilot License at 21, after accumulating 210 flying hours. By 2019, she was in the cockpit as a First Officer with Passion Air, flying the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 on domestic routes. She later made history again in 2021 as part of an all-female flight crew. Additionally, Audrey founded Excel Aviation Company, focusing on providing aviation training and inspiring the next generation of pilots in Ghana. Her achievements earned her the Female Young Achiever Award at the Exclusive Men of the Year Africa Awards in 2022, making her a prominent figure in the African aviation sector.

Earlier today, I presented a letter of employment, which I facilitated, to another Akwa Ibomite, Comfort Friday Etuk, who has been gainfully employed into the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC). Recall that few weeks ago, I presented letters of employment from other strategic Federal Government agencies, which I facilitated, to some persons of Akwa Ibom origin, as part of fulfillment of my target to facilitate employment for 1000 Akwa Ibomites into strategic Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs in 2025. I am meeting this job target alongside my sponsorship of overseas training for 100 Akwa Ibom people, which I instituted in 2024. Presenting the beneficiary, Comfort Etuk, with her letter of employment in my office at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, I congratulated her on her new job, and charged her to be a good ambassador of Akwa Ibom state and exhibit the virtues of passion, commitment, sincerity and other qualities as may be required of her. Above all, I urged her to put God first in all she does, using myself as an example of one who's been a product of God's grace. It is my firm belief that in the next 10 to 15 years, we will have Akwa Ibomites as directors, permanent secretaries, and others in top management positions in the federal government. This way, we'll be able to attract federal presence, such as projects and programmes, to Akwa Ibom state and lessen the burden on the state government. We will also be able to close the quota gap where only few Akwa Ibomites are in managerial positions in federal MDAs. Responding, Comfort Friday Etuk expressed gratitude to me for facilitating her employment and vowed to make me and the state proud by her lifestyle and performance in her new place of work.

Victor Osimhen is truly blessed with grace upon him. His club, Galatasaray, has honored the Nigerian footballer by offering him an estate as a mark of appreciation. This gesture serves as great encouragement for Osimhen. The estate includes all necessary facilities, including a private training field for his personal sessions. Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Slams N5.1 Billion Defamation Suit Against Senator Nwaebonyi Suspended Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents the Kogi Central Senatorial District in Kogi State, has filed a N5.1 billion defamation lawsuit against Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi. The lawsuit, marked Suit No: CV/1359/25, was filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Judicial Division, through her legal team led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Michael Jonathan Numa. In the filing, Akpoti-Uduaghan alleges that Senator Nwaebonyi made defamatory remarks against her during a live appearance on Channels Television's *Sunrise Daily* on March 6, 2025. According to her, Nwaebonyi falsely referred to her as a “gold digger,” “habitual liar,” and “habitual blackmailer.” She contends that the statements were “false, malicious, defamatory, and actionable per se,” and that they have caused significant reputational damage and emotional distress. The suspended senator further claims the defamatory remarks lowered her image before the public, leading to embarrassment and reputational harm. Filed by Writ of Summons under Order 2 Rule 2 of the FCT High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2025, the suit was officially submitted on April 7, 2025. Among the reliefs sought, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is asking the court to declare that the statements made by Nwaebonyi do not constitute a lawful exercise of freedom of speech. She claims these publications were “false, malicious, unjustified, injurious, scornful, distasteful, and unsavory,” exposing her to ridicule both nationally and internationally. The senator is seeking: - A perpetual injunction restraining Nwaebonyi and his affiliates from making further defamatory remarks. - A court order compelling Nwaebonyi to retract his statements and publish an unreserved apology in at least two national newspapers and on all platforms where the defamatory remarks were made. - N5 billion in aggravated and exemplary damages. - Post-judgment interest on the awarded sum at 10% per annum until fully paid. - An additional N100 million as the cost of legal action. She is also asking the court to grant any further orders it deems appropriate.

Natasha continues in her hubris to mess things for herself, as she grants interview to New York Times in her desperation to whip up public sympathy over her suspension, owing to her display of gross misconduct and indiscipline at the floor of the senate, despite court’s order, restraining all the parties in the suit from granting interview to the press while the matter is under subjudice. Apoti’s appearance on the New York Times demonstrates her flagrant disobedience to the order of the court and consequently the rule of law. Apoti’s attitude demonstrates an overt pigheadedness, ingrained in her hubris disposition, which is in variance with the office she occupies as a distinguished senator of the Federal Republic. In the light of the foregoing, many Nigerians have applauded Apoti’s appearance on the magazine where her skewed sexual harassment narrative was reported. What many of those applauding her do not know is that the management of the magazine reached out to Akpabio in the culture of balanced reportage to have him speak on the accusation but he turned it down on the premise that the matter is under subjudice and the court has asked all parties to refrain from granting interview to the press on it.
