Topic: Things That Belong to Your Peace (3)
Citizens of Zion, I welcome you to the third edition of this life-transforming series. I pray that through this edition, you will gain divine insight and revelation that are aligned with Heaven’s purpose for your peace in Jesus’ name.
In our last study, we discovered that the first provision Heaven made for your peace is not a thing, but a person; Jesus Christ. In essence, true and lasting peace can never be found outside of Him. At this juncture, kindly reflect on our main text for this edition and, you will discover that one of the silent thieves of peace is discontentment. In other words, wherever peace is missing, sorrow often takes its place.
Friends, permit me to tell you that contentment is a powerful virtue. It is the grace to be satisfied with where you are, what you have, and who God has made you to be at any given moment. In fact, I can confirm to you that Heaven has ordained contentment as a pillar for sustaining your peace. Without it, you may unwittingly open the door to restlessness, sorrow, and inner torment. In fact, you must understand that, most times, it is not the devil, disease, or even sin that steals your peace. For many, even within the Body of Christ, it is an unchecked desire for more, fueled by greed and comparison. Put differently, discontentment breeds covetousness, which quietly erodes peace from within.
Beloved, if you are not satisfied with where God has placed you, or if you struggle to trust His timing and process for your promotion, you may find yourself entangled in needless emotional battles that pierce your soul and leave you in sorrow. It is true that you may be in need of a job, a spouse, a home, children, a promotion; but you must be careful not to turn these desires into obsessions. When you anchor your peace to the attainment of material things or positions, you risk sinking into sorrow if they delay or never come. As a matter of fact, if you evaluate your life right now, you will observe that the source of your unrest is not your lack, but your belief that you should have had certain things by now. A bigger ministry, a better house, a higher role; whatever is your case right now, the truth is that if it is God’s will, it will come in His time.
Saint of God, can you trust God enough to wait with contentment? Can you embrace joy in your current season, knowing that peace is found in obedience, not acquisition? I urge you to refuse to yield to greed, anxiety, or the pressure to compete. These forces will always lead you away from peace and closer to sorrow. Until next time, stay anchored in the things that belong to your peace.
Shalom,
