WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING EEDC AND RESTRUCTURING UMUAHIA, GOVERNOR OTTI DISCLOSES AT GEOMETRIC POWER

Governor Alex Otti, has announced plans to purchase the Umuahia ring-fence from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the eight local government areas not currently served by Geometric Power.

Speaking during a reception at Geometric Power Aba following the commissioning of Aba Power’s new 2x15 MVA Ogbor Hill Substation by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Gov. Otti revealed that an official offer would be made to EEDC imminently, following due diligence and valuation.

He emphasized the aim to wheel Geometric Power’s excess capacity, estimated at over 80 megawatts, into the Umuahia grid, avoiding reliance on the national grid thanks to deregulation.

Former President Obasanjo commended the project and urged expansion to all remaining LGAs, while Prof. Bart Nnaji, CEO of Geometric Power, praised Otti’s longstanding support, highlighting the project’s $800 million investment facilitated by the Governor.
