The Lapai Emirate Security Committee, on behalf of His Royal Highness Alhaji Umaru Bago III, FNSE, FNICE, CON Etsu Lapai and Chairman, Lapai Emirate Council has officially welcomed students of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, back to campus as security conditions in the area show significant improvement.
In a statement signed by Major General S.U. Abdulkadir (rtd), District Head of Takuti and Negenu Lapai, the committee acknowledged the return of calm following the unfortunate incidents of June 2nd and 23rd, 2025. As part of security measures, a curfew was imposed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., later relaxed to 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily.
While peace has largely returned, the statement emphasized that the night curfew remains in effect from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. as a precautionary measure to sustain order and prevent any resurgence of unrest.
Students, staff, and the general public are encouraged to go about their daily activities peacefully, but must continue to comply with the curfew directive. The Emirate also urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant in support of ongoing efforts to preserve peace across the Lapai community.
The Emirate reaffirmed its commitment to the safety, unity, and development of the area, assuring that the welfare of all citizens remains a top priority.
