When I met Chidi Dike, he was just a boy. He had no idea what acting really meant, but I saw something in him, a quiet spark. I told myself, “Ruth, help him. Teach him, shape that spark into fire.” And I did. I gave him lead roles, guided him, believed in him.
But instead of thanks, I was met with betrayal. People some from my own team, spread ugly lies, saying I slept with him just to give him roles. These were people I trusted, people who didn’t work for their place but wanted his spot.
Still, I remind myself; Even when you do the right thing, people will still talk. Let them talk, I won’t stop helping others just because of hate. I choose to do good anyway, that’s who I am and that’s who I’ll always be.
