WHO SHALL SEPARATE US

Test: Romans 8 :35-37

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

MESSAGE.
Sometimes, I wonder what the believers in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, iraq, Afghanistan etc go through. Many of them are being beheaded for their unfeigned love and doggedness for Christ..

A preacher travelled to Haiti a very poor country. He said the believers in Haiti know all about persecution, famine, hardship and the danger of the sword. They don't think about houses, cars and money.

Our text gives us seven things that somebody might think can separate us from the love of God. He says what about trouble? No. Hardship? No. Persecution? No. What about famine? No. Nakedness? No. Danger? No. Sword? No.

You could have trouble. Being a Christian does not exempt you from trouble. Any body telling you that when you accept the Lord Jesus Christ all your problems would be over is not telling you the truth.

David said many are the affliction of the righteous, but God delivers him from them all ( Psalm 34:19). The day you understand this truth your Christian life would be on a new pedestal.

Your assurance should be that when you pass through the fire, he is with you. When you pass through the storm he is with you ( Isaac 43:1-2)

You could encounter Hardship. Experiencing hardship does not mean you are a sinner or you lack his presence.

You could someday be naked. You could someday be living in famine. You could someday be persecuted for your faith. Someday, all these things could happen.

You could face the sword. We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” That, too, may happen.

Paul is saying that it doesn’t matter even if you are in a situation where you feel like a lamb going to the slaughter. Can that terrible situation separate you from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus? Paul says no, it can’t.

Not every believer around the world has a good job. Not every believer around the world who loves the Lord, has a car. Not every believer serving God fervently has money. Not every believer that is eligible for marriage that is married. If you know this truth there would be less tension, apprehension and distraction.

Stop threatening God that you would backslide. Christianity is a call to a life of hardship and persecution. Not just a call to affluence and wealth.

But know this truth: If God has given us his son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He has not held back the best that heaven has. Will he hold back from us Job? No, he won’t. Will he hold back from us clothe? No, he won’t. Will he hold back a finance? No, he won’t. Will he hold back from us answers to our prayers? No, he won’t.

Since he has given us the greatest, won’t he also give us the least? He will. If he’s given us his best, will he hold back the rest? No, he won’t. If God has done this glorious and gracious thing be sure that if we need anything else, he will supply it for us. But, even if he doesn't, he remains faithful.

Don't let your love for God wane or dissipate because of a challenge, rather ask God for grace to stand tall and stand strong for him.

So many souls are perishing, this should be one of our strongest burden. Do you know the rate at which people are engaging in plastic surgeries? Do you know the rate of sexual perversion? Do you know the length at which people go to make money? We believers must remove our eyes from mundane things and concentrate on the major.

Paul is still being celebrated. He didn't have mansion; most of his Epistles were written from the prison. Let's get ourselves back on track.

I pray that nothing shall separate us from the love of God in Jesus name

PRAYER POINT

Father, in the name of Jesus, empower my love life afresh.
