Otti: Biafra Struggle Now About Equal Rights, Not Secession

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has stated that the agitation for Biafra is no longer about secession but about securing equal rights and opportunities for the Igbo people within Nigeria. Speaking at Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s 70th birthday in Umuahia, Otti emphasized that the struggle is deeply rooted in fairness and justice, not just about Nnamdi Kanu or the old idea of Biafra.

He urged for equal treatment of all Nigerians and commended Abaribe for his courage in speaking truth to power. Otti also announced plans to honour other distinguished Abians, including a posthumous celebration for Jaja Wachukwu.

In response, Abaribe expressed gratitude and credited his late father for instilling in him values of honesty and courage. The event featured the unveiling of Abaribe’s book, Unbundled, and saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
