Today in Ilorin, I had the honour of paying a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq. As Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, our discussion centered on ongoing reforms under my leadership which are aimed at repositioning State Legislatures for greater efficiency, autonomy, and impact. I used the opportunity to seek the continued partnership and support of the NGF in actualizing these reforms, and also emphasized the need for alignment between Governors and Speakers as we work towards the success of the ongoing constitutional amendment process. Governor Abdulrasaq’s reception and thoughtful engagement reflect his deep commitment to democratic development and institutional synergy across all levels of governance. I look forward to a stronger collaboration between both bodies for the good of our States and the nation at large. Earlier today, I also visited the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, where we shared insights on inter-legislative collaboration and the priorities of the Conference going forward.
