2 Kings 6:16
And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
READ
2 Kings 6:15-23
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.
And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.
And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?
And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.
And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
*We have both the number and the wonders!*
MESSAGE
Elisha told his servant in today's text that they have a mysterious advantage over their enemies because they have the greater number than their enemies, but he forgot to tell his servant that the power is with them and not with the enemies. It is one thing to have the number and it is another thing to have the power to control the number. In Elisha's case, he had both the number and the power to control the number of the enemies!
Our Lord Jesus Christ told us in the gospel that what He says to one person is what he is saying to all invariably. Hence we can also connect to what Elisha said;
*We have both the number and the wonders.*
Beloved, we are not alone; the Lord God of host is with us. However, *we need to see to know that we have both the number and the wonders.*
They that are with us are more than they that are with them, and on our side is the power to do as we shall chose with them that rise against us because the Lord God of host is with us.
We see Elisha in today's text, literally controlling the Syrian army without any form of weapon whatsoever. This is real power! The ability to determine the fate of your enemies without the use of any weapon is a great ability!
First he took away their sights and them determined their direction. *One who controls what you see also controls your life invariably.*
*Vision controls life and destiny.*
Elisha could control the direction of the Syrian army because he first prayed that God should take away from them the ability to see.
*If you can see whilst your enemies are blind, then their lives are in your hands.*
*A blind person is helpless in the hands of his seeing guide.* This was how Elisha rendered the Syrian army impotent, because he had the power to do as he wishes.
So shall your enemies be this year and beyond.
Today I decree that the power of sight be taken away from your enemies and the enemies of the church of God in Nigeria and let them turn against themselves and their sponsors until they are all wasted by their own weapons of war in Jesus name. Amen.
ACTION STEPS
1. Appreciate the Lord for His fearful and powerful presence around you and your family always.
2. Appreciate God for His mercies and faithfulness over our nation.
3. Pray that the power of vision be taken away from our enemies, and from the enemies of God's purposes in our nation, let there be confusion in their midst and let them turn their swords against themselves.
PRAYERS
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for today's devotional guide, stretch forth your mighty hands against our enemies as a people, and as the body of Christ in Nigeria and let your counsel prevail in Jesus name. Amen.
REMEMBER
*We have both the number and the wonders!*

HYMN
A mighty fortress is our God,
A bulwark never failing :
Our Helper He, amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work his woe ;
His craft and power are great,
And armed with cruel hate "
On earth is not his equal.
2
Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing,
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be ?
Christ Jesus, it is He !
Lord Sabaoth is His name,
From age to age the same :
And He must win the battle.
3
And though this world, with devils
filled,
Should threaten to undo us:
We will not fear; for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us.
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also ;
The body they may kill :
God's truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is for ever.
