Two days before my traditional marriage, hubby called me aside…

He looked me in the eyes and said,

"So many marriages fail because one person wasn’t completely honest from the start. I don’t want that to be our story."

Then he continued:

"I am not a degree holder, but I am teachable. What I don’t know, I’m willing to learn if given the opportunity."

"I love it when someone apologizes when they are wrong. I don’t like it when people pretend not to notice their faults, waiting to be told."

"If I wrong you in the future, I will quickly apologize without seeking to be notified.

"Also, I’m a people’s person. I love having people around. So, after our marriage, you’ll likely see people living with me. But I promise you, their presence will never be a disturbance to you."

The sincerity in his voice struck me differently.

It was a glimpse of him I hadn’t fully seen in all the weeks we had interacted.

And I’m so glad we had that little but big conversation because it became my blueprint for understanding him better.

If you have the privilege of courtship before marriage, don’t waste it discussing trivial things.

Use that time wisely.

Have the real conversations.

Marriage is bigger than wedding plans.

There’s a whole life after the wedding day and that’s where the real work begins.

Wishing you a blissful marital journey.

Keep being amazing.
