Hebrews 12:14-15,
Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
*Holding unto negative issues results into bitterness.*
MESSAGE
It is a medically established fact that negative stress system weighs heavily on the human nerves and produces certain physiological effects that cause pains and aches on the body. God wired the human body to live free from negative stresses because they are harmful to the peaceful coordination and co-existence of both body and soul together.
Such negative stresses includes: worries, anxieties, fear, guilt complex, envy, jealousy, hatred, anger, etc: these things give rise directly or indirectly to bitterness which is mentioned in today's memory verse.
Therefore, the things that lead to bitterness are the roots of bitterness. The Bible says they trouble the mind and result in the defilement of many beginning from the embittered person.
The emotional and psychological effects of the roots of bitterness lead to adverse effects on our interpersonal relationships. This is why it says in verse 14 of our text today to: "Follow peace with all men, and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord".
We must therefore guard against the things that make us bitter, because whatever makes us bitter will invariably affect our relationship with others, especially the people we so desperately need in our lives.
Today, in so many ways, the roots of bitterness has lead to so many issues of intolerance in our society and our peaceful coexistence has been hampered with and endangered.
We can only heal our society by first dealing with our own very lives. We must deal with that subtle envy, jealousy, anger, unforgiveness etc before it blows beyond proportion.
Beloved, holding unto negative issues results into bitterness.
I pray for you to be healed in your spirit, soul, and body totally from the effects of the roots of bitterness today in Jesus' name. Amen.
ACTION STEPS
1. Let go of negative emotions by forgiving issues early.
2. Ask the Lord to cleanse your mind and emotions from emotional and psychological poisons.
3. Trust God for emotional and psychological healing and restoration.
PRAYERS
Dear heavenly Father, Thank you for today's devotional guide. Oh God of restoration, heal me of everything that is hurting and harming me from within my soul this day and fill me with your peace in Jesus' name. Amen.

HYMN
All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give ;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
I surrender all, ... I surrender all ; . . .
All to Thee, my blessed Saviour, I surrender
all. . . .
2 All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow ;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken----
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
3
All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Saviour, wholly Thine ;
Let the Holy Spirit witness
I am Thine and Thou art mine.
4
All to Jesus I surrender :
Lord, I give myself to Thee ;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing rest on me.
5
All to Jesus I surrender :
Now I feel the sacred flame ;
Oh the joy of full salvation !
Glory, glory to His name !
