Imo Govt. Hails Super Falcons' Historic Victory

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has congratulated the Super Falcons on their historic victory at the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), held in Morocco. The team made history by winning the tournament for the 10th time, defeating the host nation Morocco 3-2 in the final.

Governor Uzodimma expressed immense pride in the team's achievement, particularly highlighting the outstanding performances of Imo State daughters Chiamaka Nnadozie, Michelle Alozie, Osinachi Ohale, Tochukwu Oluehi, and Jennifer Echegini. Chiamaka Nnadozie was awarded the Best Goalkeeper award for her exceptional skills.

The Governor stated that the victory has rekindled national pride, answering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's call for the team to bring home the trophy. Uzodimma commended the players for their energy, resilience, and unity, which played a vital role in their triumphant Journey.

Uzodimma also appreciated President Tinubu for his magnanimity and show of love to the Super Falcons, extending a similar gesture to the Imo daughters as a token of encouragement. He reaffirmed that Imo State will always stand by and celebrate its own, at every level.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State Council has also commended Governor Uzodimma for hosting the Super Falcons of Imo origin, describing his action as fatherly and timely.
