The House of Rep Committee on NAFDAC demanded a detailed breakdown of the N2.5 billion generated by NAFDAC from raids of drug markets in Lagos, Onitsha, and Aba.
NAFDAC's report was deemed incomplete, prompting a request for a location-specific account. The funds, from fines on counterfeit drug traders, were allocated as follows: N996 million for enforcement, N1.175 billion for regulatory expenses, and N159 million borrowed, with N206 million remaining.
No fines were collected during a Kano raid due to security issues. NAFDAC had N19 billion in its account by 2023, with only N4.5 billion accessible.
They collected fines in the south but couldn't collect fines in the north of this country.

Former Borno Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, believes that regional collaboration is the key to permanently ending the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
Sheriff, who once governed the state most affected by the group's activities, shared his insights on Monday during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.
When asked about a lasting solution to the ongoing security challenge, he emphasised the importance of a coordinated effort among the nations in the region.
Sheriff said: “What should be done is that we have to have proper relationship with Cameroon, Chad and Niger."
