  • Love in the Ashes of Hate

Final Episode: Flames Beneath the Rain

The rain had quieted to a drizzle, tapping gently on the tin roof like the fading pulse of a wounded heart. Fumi sat on the edge of Segun’s bed, wrapped in a threadbare towel. Her once-radiant dress now hung across a chair, dripping sorrow onto the floor.

Segun stood by the window, arms folded, his eyes watching the alleyway outside. Silence lingered between them—thick, suffocating, unspoken.

She finally broke it. “You haven’t asked me why I really came.”

Segun turned, eyes tired. “I figured you’d tell me if you wanted to.”

She swallowed hard. “I’m not here just because I lost my home. Or because I have nowhere else to go.”

    He raised a brow, waiting.

“I came because… I was wrong,” she said. “About everything. About my father. About you. I let pride blind me. I let his hatred bury what we had.”

Segun’s expression didn’t change, but his eyes flickered.

“Do you know what it’s like,” he said quietly, “to watch your family starve because someone wanted to prove a point? To see your mother beg for justice while the world believed lies?”

“I do now,” Fumi whispered. “That’s the hell I’ve been living.”

He looked away again, fists clenched.

“I didn’t come for forgiveness,” she said, voice firming. “I came because despite everything… I still love you.”

His breath caught. The weight of her words hung in the air like incense in a shrine—sweet, thick, and impossible to ignore.

“I don’t know if love is enough,” he finally said. “We’re standing on ashes, Fumi.”

She stood and stepped toward him. “But even from ashes, fire can rise again.”

Their eyes met. Not as enemies. Not even as lovers. But as two people who had been burned and still chose to reach for warmth.

He took her hand slowly, cautiously. “If we do this… it won’t be easy.”

“I’m not looking for easy,” she said. “I’m looking for real.”

Outside, the rain stopped completely. And for the first time in a long while, the sky above Makoko held silence—not of sorrow, but of promise.

  • *I INTERVIEWED A PERSON WHO HATED ME*

Six years ago a guy looked at me face to face, and boldly told me; "I don't like you!"

I immediately fired a response, I asked him that day; "Thank you for the honest feedback, but those that you like, how has it made their life better? How does your liking people pay their bills or take a bank loan? My brother keep your like, I need God's like And that's what guarantees my future.

ONE day I joined a CEO friend of mine in an interview Panel to recruit some new staff, it was a long session.
As we returned from a coffee break to continue the hectic interview session, here was this same guy walked in with his grey jacket and CV coming for the interview.

Our eyes kissed by fluke, we immediately recognised each other; "the world is indeed spherical", I soliloquized.

He felt very uncomfortable through out the interview, one could clearly see the volcanic eruption ongoing in his whole nervous system, he even mistook his date of birth for his last date of employment.

It wasn't yet my turn to ask him questions so I allowed everyone to take their turns with him and deliberately opted to interview him last.

When it got to my turn, the first thing I said was, "I LIKE YOU so much, you look to me like a brilliant and intelligent person, but it seems you are not doing well now because something bothers you, true?"

"That's very correct Sir!" He responded.

"Ok look at me straight in the eye, I was never offended that day, it is very normal that sometimes as humans you just don't like certain people, but I wasn't bothered either, because whether you liked me or not, it was inconsequential to my life and my success path - as you can see, fate has brought you to my lair"

I stood up and beckoned him to come and embrace me, everyone on the panel at this point were at sea - wondering if we had expeditiously recast an interview session to a Hollywood movie scene.

He hugged me so long and deeply that I felt it. Then I told him, "now get your confidence back bro and answer the questions like a Pro Shark that you are, we all burst into laughter, everyone suddenly liked him and the room became livelier - the interview became more like a discussion, well to cut the long story short, he got the job!

    Lessons:

    1. Be careful how you treat people when they appear to be in their vulnerable state, your next level may be hanging in their balance; somewhere in the future.

    2. If you dislike someone, it is not their fault, it is YOUR FAULT, work on yourself to find good in people and reinvent your Mind to see everyone as likeable.

    3. Don't spew hatred vocally just because it came into your heart, you may say it to someone who will keep it forever and use it against you when you find yourself in your own low moments and need them.

    4. Learn to forgive, overlook people's dislike and hatred for you, dont punish people just because you have the position and privilege to do so, bless them rather - that's how you court God's blessings, favour and protection.

    5. Share this post, someone needs it to heal from their past burdens of unforgiveness they have been carrying which has been hindering their promotions and inhibiting God's blessings flowing their way!

  • MY STEPMOTHER KICKED ME OUT WHILE MY FATHER STAYED SILENT — DAYS LATER, THEY WERE ON THEIR KNEES BEGGING FOR FORGIVENESS

My stepmom never liked me. Like, at all. She always put me down, dumped all the housework on me, constantly made me feel like I was nothing but a burden to the family. As for my dad? He was scared of her. So he stayed quiet. Always.

And it just kept getting worse. Until one day, she crossed a line I'll never forget.

I came home and found all my stuff packed up and dumped on the front lawn. She kicked me out of my own house!! And my dad? He just stood there behind her and said, "Maybe this is for the best."

I honestly couldn't believe it. I ended up crashing at my best friend's place, crying my eyes out, thinking my world had just fallen apart... having no idea that three days later, everything would flip upside down when I got a call from a lawyer.

  • This is what happens when jealousy drives you to destroy a friend or ruin someone’s name without realizing how many lives depend on that person.
In the end, it's the children and family members who suffer because of one person's bitterness and unforgiving heart.

Whether it's in the workplace or anywhere people earn a living, think twice before you tear someone down. Let us choose humanity. Let us choose forgiveness over hatred, and understanding over resentment.

Some people are the backbone of their families-removing them causes untold pain.

God is love. Let love lead. Let love cover us all.

  • UPDATE: suspended Rivers Governor Fudara Reportedly Visits Wike, Begs for Reconciliation

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, recently paid a visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his Abuja residence in a bid to reconcile with his former political ally, PREMIUM TIMES has learned.

The visit, which reportedly took place on Friday, April 18, came shortly after Fubara met with President Bola Tinubu in London over his prolonged rift with Wike-a crisis that prompted the president to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspend Fubara along with other elected officials for six months.

Sources revealed that Fubara was accompanied to Wike's home by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and former Ogun Governor Olusegun Osoba. At the meeting, Fubara was said to have prostrated before Wike, held his legs, and called him "My Oga" in a dramatic plea for forgiveness.

He reportedly stayed at Wike's residence into the early hours of Saturday, April 19. Although details of the meeting remain undisclosed, insiders say Fubara was instructed to return to Rivers State and brief his supporters-particularly the elders-on the true cause of the conflict with Wike.

When contacted, Wike's spokesperson Lere Olayinka confirmed the meeting but declined to share details. Fubara's spokesperson, Nelson Chukwudi, refused to comment and directed enquiries to the Rivers Commissioner for Information, Joseph Johnson, who did not respond to calls.

  • *THE DEAD EVANGELIST IN CHOIR ROBE!*

There's a brother named Brother Clifford, who made it a duty upon himself that come rain or sunshine, he will be at the Bus Station distributing Gospel Tracts to passengers as they board or leave the bus/stop, and this he did faithfully for several years!

One faithful day at the church service, after a rendition by the choir, members in church appreciated the choir, praised and gave them a standing ovation. But, Brother Clifford, instead of being happy for them, he was very sad.

He thought his soul winning efforts was not being acknowledged, rewarded and recognised by the church members, the pastor and the entire ministers.

And he also noticed that nobody from the Bus station has ever met him to say thank you for what he has been faithfully doing over the years.

So, he (Brother Clifford) decided to abandon the going to the Bus Station. Instead he joined the choir and started singing with them. To his surprise he was warmly welcomed, and he discovered that within a short while in the choir, he was singing and receiving standing ovations. So, he concluded in his heart that he had just made the right decision.

One day during service, he sang Psalm 23 as a solo and by the time he finished singing, the whole church including the pastoral team and the elders were on their feet clapping and giving him a standing ovation.
Suddenly there arose an old man, a stranger in the midst of the congregation who said he wants to sing the same song while the church was still on their feet clapping for the soloist.

Against protocol, the pastor cynically allowed the old man to sing.
By the time the old man finished singing, the whole church were on their knees, some were weeping, others were praying in repentance.
That day, there were no more sermon but an altar call. With sinners giving their lives to Christ and backsliders returning to their first love and the whole church rededicating their lives.

Brother Clifford, the evangelist in his choir robe, felt a deep hole in his heart. He felt empty, he saw the difference between entertainment for the appreciation of men and the ministration for the appreciation of heaven. He left the church with a heavy heart.
Without thinking of removing his choir robe, he headed for the Bus Station empty handed as if in a trance.

On getting there he met a man in the same spot where he ususlly stand to distribute gospel leaflets before. The man that was distributing the gospel tracts handed one tract to brother Clifford. And the tract read "I WILL BE A FAITHFUL SOLDIER TO LORD, I WILL DIE AT MY POST". It ended asking, "are you a faithful witness of the WORD?"

With tears in his eyes and a shaky voice, brother Clifford asked the man how he came to start distributing tracts at that spot at the Bus Station. The busy man, not looking at him, told him of a dead man who used to come there, come rain or sunshine to distribute tracts. That for months the man has not been there. He told him that he believed and concluded the man must have been be dead. He said the dead man once gave him a tract before that changed his commitment to Christ. And since the man is dead, he felt God wanted him to replace the dead man to continue the good work in the memory of the dead man.

The man kept emphasising, "The dead man, the dead man, the Dead Man". which further sent B
brother Clifford back to his knees weeping and asking for God's forgiveness.
    Hmm...

If you are still reading this, believe me, God has set you up to read it because He has a purpose for your life. Have you left your assignment because of some discouragements from cynics and critics, or have you abandoned the unheard, unseen and unsung praise of heaven for the standing ovation and approval of men?
Are you like the evangelist in choir robe? Or are you like the singer, singing to entertain in church - Note: The place of entertainment is in the theatre not in the church.

The church is for ministration in the Spirit by Worshipping God in Truth and in the spirit.

I want to tell you today that GOD OF ANOTHER CHANCE WANTS YOU TO RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE FOR HIM TODAY.

WHY NOT DO THE WORK OF AN EVANGELIST TODAY, BY SHARING THIS POST TO GROUPS FOR OTHERS TO GET THIS MESSAGE.

    God bless you all.

*ANYONE THAT ANNOYS YOU* is teaching you patience and calmness.

*ANYONE THAT ABANDONS YOU* is teaching you how to stand up on your own feet.

*ANYBODY THAT OFFENDS YOU* is teaching you forgiveness and compassion.

*ANYTHING THAT YOU HATE* is teaching you, unconditional love.

*ANYTHING THAT YOU FEAR* is teaching you the courage to overcome your fears.

*ANYTHING YOU CAN'T CONTROL* is teaching you to let go.

*ANY "NO" YOU GET FROM HUMAN* is teaching you to be independent.

*ANY PROBLEM YOU'RE FACING* is teaching you how to get a solution to problems.

*ANY ATTACK YOU GET FROM PEOPLE* is teaching you the best form of defence.

*ANYONE WHO LOOKS DOWN ON YOU* is teaching you to look up to your CREATOR *GOD* .

Always look out for the lesson in every situation you face in every phase of life.
Be polite, calm, gentle and thankful to God because He will be with you to the end.
Life had taught me lessons. I do not see people at my cross road, because humans are not reliable. I only see God as the author and finisher of my faith.

    *R E F L E C T I O N S*
When you live your life without anyone betraying, hurting, disappointing, disgracing or offending you, then it means you never did anything worthy.

The beauty of life is that, it comes with disappointments and betrayals from people you least expect.

Unfortunately, some of us spend so much time crying over these betrayals and disappointments and end up becoming victims of all circumstances.

Remember One Thing: Holding unto anger is like knocking your head on the wall and expecting the other person to feel the pain. You are only hurting yourself.

The fact is that the world is full of annoying, naughty, ****** and ungrateful people, and you will always come across them at one point or another in life. But the best thing to do is to deal with them with wisdom and maturity.

You can’t get everyone to love you, think like you or behave like you... never.

We must learn to tolerate and overlook certain things, we must try to bury the faults of others and move on with life.

Anger, Hatred and Intolerance have caused most of the world's problems but solved none of it.

Life is short, you don't know how much time you have left.
I beseech you to take the pain and forgive that special person you hold grudges against, and iron out your grievances.

Muster the courage and apologise to that person you have offended.

Life is not measured by the amount of money, houses or companies you have, but by the positive impact you have made in the lives of others.

    REMAIN FOREVER BLESSED.
